The Results are in, NLSC Night a Success

For the first time, the NLSC skaters and puckstoppers took the ice to wow fans and NHL scouts. They did just that, and perhaps more, it is almost for certain that all these players have talent, and are ready for the NHL.

The scouts have had a meeting, and have released the official results. Here is a look at the NLSC scouting reports.

Image

Alex Buckley

Position: Right Wing
Has a good shot and puts it together with good speed and slick passing. Plays with a lot of intensity and agression, and is also great on the defensive end.
Although he has a good shot, it's not always on target. He's not known to be an accurate shooter. He plays with a lot of grit and agressiveness which sometimes causes him to make mistakes like lose his temper and end up serving costly penalties.

Image

D. Davis

Position: Center
Really fits into playing center, feeds his wingers the puck and shoots it himself if he needs to. He doesn't have many flaws and usually gets the job done.
Davis doesn't show a lot of character, and isn't always too concerned on being on the same page as everyone else. He likes to do his own thing which tends to hurt him in a team sport.

Image

Dean Grant

Position: Defenseman
Solid defenseman that gives a lot of effort. Very hard to beat, and plays his man agressive. He can also get the puck on net which opens up rebound oppertunities for his forwards. Overall, he's a tough defenseman with good speed and good passing.
He doesn't really have a good slapshot that can intimidate the oposition. He's not an offensive threat and doesn't have great hand-eye coordination.

Image

Sam Keon

Position: Goaltender
Good all-around goalie that can come through for a team. Has good reflexes and knows how to use both his glove and stick hand.
He's not always consistant and is not hard to beat when being screened or with bouncing pucks.

Image

Calvin McClammy

Position: Goaltender
Good young golatender who is quick and pounces on pucks.
The big problem with McClammy is that he doesn't come up with a lot of saves. He likes to use his quickness and poke check to grab loose pucks, but isn't great at handling shots.

Image

Igor Peras

Position: Goaltender
Very quick and focused goaltender who doesn't tire out quickly and will not give up a lot of rebounds for second chances.
Although he doesn't give up a lot of second chances, he's not extremely hard to beat with the first. Unkile McClammy, he doesn't have a great poke check and hand-eye coordination.

Image

Peter Robertson

Position: Center
He has all the tools to make it in the NHL. Almost a perfect center for any winger and doesn't shy away from taking the draws. Great passer with tremendous speed and a good mental game. Great leader who doesn't take dumb penalties.
Robertson doesn't have a whole lot of tricks and moves up his sleeve and doesn't have a great shot to match his speed and passing. Not a gritty player who likes to get his hands dirty or play a man agressively.

Image

Ivan Shchipansky

Position: Left Wing
Fantastic shooter with great speed and toughness.
Doesn't have a very good mental game and will often take dumb penalties.

Image

Will Sit

Position: Right Wing
Agressive player with a tremendous shot, great speed, grit, and a positive attitude. He can pull a team out of a jam quickly and comes through in crunch time.
He plays a very uptempo offensive game and doesn't always do everything right like pick the right battles, occassionaly takes bad penalties, and gets caught up in his own performance rather than the team's.

Image

Khalid Sleiman

Position: Defenseman
A committed defenseman who doesn't like to lose. Doesn't usually get beat and likes to join the rush.
Sleiman can occassionally make unexpected mistakes and isn't a stranger to the penalty box. He also doesn't have a great shot and prefers to dish out the puck to teammates.

And finally, here are the stats:

Scoring

Peter Robertson: 2 Goals, 1 Assist, 3 Points
Will Sit: 1 Goal, 1 Assist, 2 Points
D. Davis: 1 Goal, 1 Assist, 2 Points
Alex Buckley: 1 Assist, 1 Point

Goaltending

Sam Keon: 20 Shots Against, 18 Saves, 2 Goals Allowed
Calvin McClammy: 27 Shots Against, 24 Saves, 3 Goals Allowed
Igor Peras: 27 Shots Against, 24 Saves, 4 Goals Allowed

This will be the last update for a while. School starts tomorrow for me.

Tue Sep 05, 2006 5:32 pm

Tue Sep 05, 2006 8:46 pm

nice stuff man.

im an overagressive power type of player. hey if its on target, its in most of the time.

Tue Sep 05, 2006 9:09 pm

Damn I look big between the pippes.
Good job on the scounting report,I hope I get a lot of saves.

Wed Sep 06, 2006 8:26 am

You've pretty much got me nailed (Y) (although somehow I was the leading scorer :P ).

@ anyone who cares: Jerseys like that are easier in 2002; all you have to do is import a logo into the game.

Wed Sep 06, 2006 8:33 am

Wow, except for my character trait I seem to be going in the right direction to becoming a superstar. Only competition at my position is Cable so thats great, maybe an MVP battle or two with him sometime in the future.

Wed Sep 06, 2006 8:38 am

Hahahaha I look liek Karya or sumthing, o well maybe next time ill make an assistant or score :)

Wed Sep 06, 2006 9:25 am

hey dada, I'm the MVP :P

Wed Sep 06, 2006 10:18 pm

nice work....I came up with this idea not too long before you started this dynasty (as Sit can attest to) & was thinking of doing one when I get NHL 07 on Xbox 360....don't know if I'll do one now, depending on how this goes....good luck with it (Y)

Thanks, appreciate it.

I hope so too, you probably look big since you're out of the crease and the net is pretty distant.

I'm glad my reports were accurate. And yeah it is really easy for the jerseys, didn't take me long at all. One of the good things about the game.

True, the upcoming battles between you and Cable should be interesting.

That's not you, it's Sit. You're the one above.

No worries X. I think you should go for it if you want.

Starting Goaltenders

Image Image

Andrew Raycroft (TOR)
Jocelyn Thibault (PIT)

The Toronto Maple Leafs will open up the regular season against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins are hoping to make a play-off run this year and cannot be overlooked with new additions Evgeni Malkin, Mark Recchi, and Alex Buckley. After failing to reach the play-offs last season, the Pens have loaded up on talent and certainly look stronger. They look good on paper but how much of that will they take with them to the ice? And will it be enough to beat the Leafs?

The Maple Leafs are also coming off a disappointing season in which they narrowly missed the play-offs. They fired their head coach and signed young goaltender Andrew Raycroft and veteran Mike Peca. They should be a more rejuvinated and overall better team than they were last year and expectnothing less than a play-off appearance. Captain Mats Sundin will center wingers Darcy Tucker and Jeff O'Neill. The Penguins should keep a close watch on this line if they want to win. Andrew Raycroft will make his Leaf debut between the pipes after a disappointing year in Boston where injuries and the other tenders' got in the way of his playing time.

Sat Sep 09, 2006 3:07 pm

Hey Keo... who made which teams???

Sun Sep 10, 2006 12:01 am

I PMed everybody and told them their teams when I asked about jersey numbers. But if you want to know where everybody is:

Anthony15 - Colorado Avalanche
Sac-1 - Vancouver Canucks
Cable - Edmonton Oilers
Sit - Minnesota Wild
Hammertime - Columbus Blue Jackets
Dean - NY Rangers
CWebbiverson - Pittsburgh Penguins
Pera - Boston Bruins
Dadamafia - NY Rangers
Keo - Philadelphia Flyers

Everyone but the goaltenders went to the team of their choices. The goalies had to settle for the teams with the least depth in goaltending so that they could get more playing time.

Recap coming up. :)

Sun Sep 10, 2006 12:15 am

Nice man, keep us informed! (Y)

Good to see Dean and Dada teaming up for NY... and how good am i compared to the rest of the Wild roster?

Sun Sep 10, 2006 12:22 am

If you must know, you're a top 10 player in Minnesota. (10th in overall ratings), tied for 4th in Agility. :) You also play on the same night that I play the Pens so you'll see how you did in your first game. And as I mentioned at the start, I will play with your teams once in a while.

Why the Wild? You shoulda came to NY too. The lights and all the action is there. Just imagine all the women we will be getting after we win the championshipship (yes, thats my early season prediction).

Sun Sep 10, 2006 12:52 am

haha, ok Keo... if i'm underperforming... my agent would like to force a trade to NY as long as I'm guaranteed a starting spot! Me and Dada will be a high scoring duo (Y)

Leafs Come from Behind; Snatch Season Opener Win

Image4 Image3

After two early goals by the Penguins, the Leafs managed to pull it together, tallying 4 straight goals past Pens netminder Jocelyn Thibault to seal the win. Youngsters Alex Steen and Kyle Wellwood found the back of the net, and Mats Sundin collected 2 Assists while his wingers Darcy Tucker and Jeff O'Neill each scored.

The Penguins, who looked to be in control early in the contest, also got scoring from a pair of youngsters. Evgeni Malkin scored on the Powerplay and Sidney Crosby fired a shot past Andrew Raycroft late in the game. It all fell apart for the Penguins however, as the Leafs strong attack proved to be too much. They suffer their first loss of the season.

Alex Buckley made his NHL debut for the Penguins with two shots on goal, including a very good chance late in the game that would've knotted it up, but Andrew Raycroft came up with the key save. Buckley was also involved in a scrap with Wade Belak, and played a little over 13 minutes in ice time.

Scoring Summary

Image Tucker (SH) (Peca, Kaberle) Wellwood (Antropov) Steen (Sundin, Khavanov) O'Neill (Sundin, Kaberle)
Image Malkin (PP) (Petrovicky, Malone) Hilbert (Unassisted) Crosby (Recchi)

Sun Sep 10, 2006 6:58 am

I like the recap style. (Y)

This is going to be hard for me. I want the Leafs to win, but I have to cheer for the Oilers too.

Keo, maybe you could post like which line everyone's on, how they compare to their team, etc.?
