FIFA Manager 2007 (56k beware)

Sat Aug 19, 2006 5:41 am

Yet another football management game I have interest in that looks quite promising. The things I liked most were small features like the newspaper which gave me info from around the leagues and also some of its micromanagement aspects. I used to play the 06 version extensively due to the 3d engine before I got back into FM eventually(which I feel is better and more addictive overall). I give EA props on their presentation though because it is loads better than othe rmanagement games. I'll always play both though, not just one or the other. Anyways heres some info.

Great game! As soon as I have enough of Live 07, I will try this for sure! I have been playing this game since 2000.

I'm really digging the "Cooperation Contracts" which I believe is about the same as the feeder club feature which will be in FMO7. Cant wait to see how that works out in the game and what kinda players I can bring into my club. Again, the game looks very promising and hopefully it doesnt disappoint. On looks alone it appears top notch.

Sat Aug 19, 2006 10:18 am

... this isn't Football Manager.

Sat Aug 19, 2006 10:20 am

crud XD
didnt realize it....

oh well. this still looks brilliant

You coulda played the 06 version.

Its cool and all but in some ways its kinda easy, at least in 06. This one looks alot more in depth and I must admit I was a bit surprised by the features EA added. Seems they want to improve all their games across the board. I think FM is some sort of disease that once you get you cant lose so its hard for me to expect fifa manager to be better.

Damn this game is the fucking bomb! I wish Live had "so many" features you will never grow tired of.

Sat Aug 19, 2006 11:11 am

so I'm assuming this is different from FIFA 07?

Sat Aug 19, 2006 12:15 pm

Woah.

This is like Fifa 06, Football manager 06, and sim city all mixed into one!

Is it for xbox or PC? Or both? (i'm lazy)

Is this game better than NFL Head Coach ?

Mon Aug 21, 2006 3:36 pm

I know this game is all about managing a team but can you also play games?

Just look at the screens, the franchise mode is much better than in HC, finally some nice work by EA. Screens look fantastic (y)

Lol. That city view looks like it was just a rehash of some Sim City 3000 graphics

And considering how fucking awesome FM07 is, FIFA will once again be nothing but a very faded copy of a good managerial game.

Yup. You should give the 06 version a run (I probably played that just as much as FM back in the day), it isnt bad and has alot of nice features in it also. As I see it now the Fifa Manager 07 version has the potential to be better than FM, only thing is FM has more devoted fans so it may still be more popular. I have a feeling I will spend more time on this new one than FM07.

I can tell you right now that, no. This has nothing on FM 07. It's not even funny how much further along FM is.

Dada seems to like the more visual aspect of FIFA Manager so I guess that'd be the reason, personally I probably won't play it. FM 07 looks incredible.

The embargo on information from the beta-testers ends on the 8th of september. Then I can start answering some more detailed questions on FM07.

Fri Aug 25, 2006 7:59 pm

Is there much information that hasn't already been released? I made a thread about FM07 not too long ago, there was a shit load of info on Wikipedia and various websites.

Thats one reason why I like it although not the major one, the AI was iffy in the 06 version so if there is any improvement it would be excellent (In fact, at this point I prefer how the dots in FM play compared to the 3d players in fifa manager 06). I liked the fact you could control ticket prices before matches, the newspaper part which was more like a website(where you got a long recap of the happenings in your match as well as news from around the world), the presentation (which is loads better than FM although not that very important), the 2d match engine (which I barely used because I eventually started simming), and some other features I dont quite remember because it has been so long.

Its easy to hate on the game just because its from EA. FM07 is not that further along, sorry. I love FM the most out of all managerial games but if EA fixed a couple things here and there I would not discount their game. Have you ever played it? If not, how can you place such a judgment on a game which you havent even logged a couple hours on. If you cant agree on the fact there is potential in this game from the screens alone then there is something wrong. In it are many of the same features which make FM great as well as some others which it doesnt have. What makes or breaks the game is how well these features are implemented and how well they work to make an overall better game experience in the upcoming release. I'm not one of those "I only play this game cuz its the shizzle" type of guys.

I would say anyone who has never played a game in the series should give Fifa Manager 06 a run. Granted it has its flaws, I feel there is no way you can come away from the game saying it is complete and utter rubbish with no potential whatsoever. Just because FM is so good doesnt mean we should all just disregard the competition (whether you consider it so or not).

Btw, its really wierd writing about the two because they are both FM07.

Fri Aug 25, 2006 11:01 pm

He does appear to be BETA testing FM 07, so maybe it is further along than we know.

Jae wrote:He does appear to be BETA testing FM 07, so maybe it is further along than we know.

Aye, I do. And yes, there's loads of info that isn't out in any greater specific that actually matches what's in the game.

Dada - I've logged plenty of hours on FM but only a few on FIFA Manager. But the engines (that's the essence of any simulation-type-game) shows how dominant FM is. It's ridiculous how much better it is when you compare them in detail.

But until the 8th you'll just have to take my word for it.

Fri Nov 10, 2006 9:20 am

Ok so I finally got my hands on the game and will be testing it out in just a sec. Hopefully its worthwhile (I sure hope it is).

I'll let you know what I think.

edit: Ok I played it and its ok. Not as good as it could be but then again I havent played it for very long. Better feedback will be given later.
