Nasty splitter is the way to go (Y)

A sinker or a splitter is good. I think the sinker's max speed is faster than the splitter's, but it has a little less break. I've had good success with both pitches, but I would go with the sinker because I'm more familiar with how to use it in MVP.

I say slider. Do the Randy Johnson thing. :hump:

Hehe, look who's found this thread.

If you want to be realistic, I'd go with a splitter. If you want to have fun, give him a knuckleball. (Y)

Haha, I haven't decided yet. This has been another slow dynasty and I'll have to continue slacking off due to two jobs I have, but expect more updates in a week or two. In the meanwhile, if you have any ideas or suggestions, please express them.

Game ends to 51s home run

Sacramento River Cats

We were up 2-0 in the 7th when I was called in and were doing really well, Putnam hit a solo homer, he was excited about that. I did great for two innings, striking out three of the six batters I faced, among of them was Ricky Ledee. But then in the 9th our closer messed things up, let them tie the game. The game really stretched far, and we lost, someone hit a homer, I don't remember who. I saw it coming.
We have been discussing things with out coach and I might have a chance at becoming our closer. It's not certain yet but I think I would be a good closer plus our current one hasn't performed well.

Deivi Cruz sinks Sacramento
Rookie Williams' first appearance raises questions

Sacramento River Cats at Las Vegas 51s : 0-2 - Boxscore

Williams didn't clearly get the start he wanted

The Sacramento River Cats had a great duel going on against the 51s, until Deivi Cruz stepped up to bat in the 7th. Both starters were able to hold their own in the game; Komine and Ainsworth both allowed four hits and no runs. Williams was called in the 5th when Komine had walked two in a row and showed signs of wearing out due to recent health issues. Williams was consistent and was perfect in the 5th and 6th, but when Cruz hit a two run homer, it seemed like the River Cats lost motivation.
Although the game was a pitchers duel, Williams' performance raised questions about whether he is ready for this level of baseball. Although everyone was talking about the pitch Cruz hammered out of the park that seemed to be another one of Williams' 96+ mph fastballs, he did retire everyone else, except of Matt Kemp who he walked. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I wasn't that surprised of the level of play, I have hada good preview from practice sessions and the games I have sat on the bench. The only pitch that got hit was the homer and I was trying throw a moving fastball but it ended up as a fat one in the middle of the strike zone. At this level you need to slip once and they will take advantage of you, when in A-level I could slip one or two and the batter couldn't take advantage.
The manager and the coaching staff has been great to me, they show great trust in me and it feels good. It's much easier when you know they believe in what you're doing out there. The pitching staff has been coaching me to throw a sinker and it's developing fast. I'd say it's my second best pitch after my fastballs. I'd like to get my changeup to be a bit more effective, I'd like to be a heat-changeup pitcher like Tom Glavine, I only have more heat than he does :)
