Foul trouble prevents Sonics from holding to lead as Miller hits Game Winner
November 12, 2006

Los Angeles Clippers - 125
Seattle Sonics - 122

(Boxscore)
Star Rashard Lewis, who had scored 31 points to lead the Sonics, fouled out with just 3 minutes left in the game, while his teammate and rookie Center Ronnie Gage picked up his 5th seconds later and was taken out as well.

With the Sonics players in foul trouble, the Clippers pushed ahead, despite some foul trouble for themselves. Diaw had 5 fouls, while Brand was called for 4 and Maggette 5. Despite the fouls, they kept their key players in while Seattle took them out; this caused the sudden difference in talent and thus the Clippers’ comeback. This comeback included a 58 point fourth quarter, tying the NBA record.

With seconds left in the game and the Clippers taking the ball upcourt, they decided to wait and take the last shot if possible. The ball was passed to their “best” shooter Mike Miller, who has had a superb night shooting so far. When the clock struck just under 4 seconds, Miller made his move, popping a three from downtown. It swished in for his 5th and most important three pointer of the night. With the 3 point deficit, the Sonics called timeout and tried to make a tying 3. Ray Allen took the inbounds, and launched the three, however it hit the right side of the rim and Elton Brand grabbed it, making sure the Sonics didn’t get another chance.

    Game Notes

    - The 58 fourth quarter ties an NBA record set by the Buffalo Braves against the Boston Celtics back on October 22, 1977
    - Mike Miller made all of his teams’ three pointers. His team went 0-6 combined.
    - The Clippers attempted a ridiculous 55 free throws, of which they made 42 for a 76.4%
    - The teams combined for 109 rebounds; Seattle grabbed 56 of them
    - The Clippers had 24 assists to Seattle’s 23; both team stole the ball 12 times

Hmm i once had 58 in a quarter once.

Hughes send game into overtime, but Cleveland suffer overtime collapse
November 13, 2006

Los Angeles Clippers - 144
Cleveland Cavaliers - 135

(Boxscore)
The game was tied at 75 entering the last quarter, however 12 seconds into the quarter, forward Corey Maggette drove into the lane, and drew a shooting foul on Lebron James. When Maggette came down however he held his arms and headed towards the bench. With one of their leaders out, the Clippers seemed to awaken and took control. They earned a 7 point lead in 2 minutes before the Cavs stormed back. The game swayed back and forth with each team gaining a 4 or 5 point lead before letting the other team catch up again. With center Boris Diaw fouling out, rookie Glen Hsu came in and played a career game. Hsu has scored only 5 points up to this game. Hsu alone scored 8 points in the 6 minutes he played in the last quarter. With the score 116-113 and only 3 seconds left, Larry Hughes nailed a three, then the Clippers held the ball and headed into overtime.

After watching the exciting 4th quarter, overtime certainly did not live up to its hype. The Clippers reeled off 8 straights points before the Clippers even put up a shot. Finally Cleveland knocked some sense into themselves and fought back, typing the game at 132 with only 2 minutes left.

That would be the last chance the Cavs would have at winning. The Clippers rolled after the timeout. Over the next 2 minutes the Cavs only scored 3 points while the Clippers put in 12.

After the game the injury report came on Corey Maggette. The report showed that his shooting hand was bruised and sprained. Since it is his shooting hand, Maggette will most likely be moved down in the lineup. Rumors right now suggest that Mike Miller will fill in at small forward while 6th man Chris Duhon will take over at shooting guard.

    ImageImage
Left: Glen Hsu with a huge dunk against Z in overtime | Right: Lebron James shows he can do one better with a similar dunk

    Game Notes

    - The game was tied because the teams were tied at 75 going into the last quarter, and both scored 41 in the 4th
    - Elton Brand was named POTG with 39 points, 18 rebounds, and 8 assists
    - Glen Hsu came off the bench for a career game of 14 points on 7-9 shooting
    - Both Drew Gooden and Lebron James scored 32 points
    - Nelson Lue scored all of his 7 points from the free throw line; he went 7-8
    - Big Z and Gooden grab double-digit rebounds. Z had 13 while Gooden had 15

Boris Diaw makes game saving steal of Derek Anderson pass
November 15, 2006

Los Angeles Clippers - 123
Miami Heat – 121

(Boxscore)
The Clippers came into this game riding a 5 game winning streak. Miami was up 73-71 and continued their strong run with several fast break dunks by Dwyane Wade and Shaq O’Neal. The game slowly changed hands when Elton Brand caught up with Wade on a fast break and sent Wade’s layup flying into the 10th row; the Heat suffered yet another setback when forward Udonis Haslem fouled out with 5:04 left. Slowly, the Clippers chipped away at the Heat’s lead, eventually getting ahead 118-116 with only 48.7 seconds left.

The lead changed hands over 5 times during the last half minute. With only 6.3 seconds left, backup guard Derek Anderson tried to throw a cross-court pass to Shaq, but Boris Diaw stepped in and poked his hands in, taking the ball away from Shaq. Since his team was already up 122-121, Shaq was forced to go and foul Diaw. Diaw managed to make 1 of his 2 free throws, and Wade missed his final shot.

    Game Notes

    - The Heat attempted 3 more shots than the Clippers and made 7 more field goals, they also tied in 3 pointers; however LA made 16 more free throws
    - The Clippers were out-rebounded 35-43
    - Shaq O’Neal alone had 37 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 blocks
    - Elton Brand was named POTG with his 34 point and 11 rebound performance
    - Injured forward Corey Maggette came off the bench to score 10 key points in 13 minutes

Well everyone I am back from Winthrop, it was great. Pickup up a friend about an hour away and drove Mass Pike... though we got off an exit early and well that led us into inner Boston and got us lost. We had a great time there, (some weird black people though on the streets), and driving back we got lost again...

I'll post a bigger recap with pictures of the trip in the days to come
