Couple of big games in my franchise!!

Postby Stevan on Thu Jul 24, 2003 1:16 am

Damn, after months and months, I've finally ventured into the dark section, otherwise known as the Live 2003 Franchise Issues... Small step for man...you know how it goes. This'll probably be a long thread once I get going, so go take a shit, drink some coffee, and put on your reading glasses. Or click "back" :D

I'm playing a franchise with my beloved Bulls, and was 0-5 with this line-up:
Curry
Chandler
Pippen
Rose
Crawford
...and the usual bench mob.

I only had Pippen for the final 2 of those 5 games because he hadn't officially signed with the Bulls and I already started my franchise! In the first game he had 4pts (2-6) 6 boards and 8 assists.
I was losing games and something didn't feel right about the team, plus I hated using Jalen at the SG spot, and there's no way Scottie's going to the bench. Then you have Fizer, Marshall and Baxter, and no freakin centre!
Jalen was pissing me off, so I traded Jalen Rose (78) and Marcus Fizer (72, who was not playing well) to the Sonics for Ray Allen (80) and Predrag Drobnjak (68 or 69).

I played 2 games and started:
Curry
Marshall
Pippen
Allen
Crawford

How marvelous it feels to have a guy who can shoot from raaaannngeee! And all that crap about Pippen being a veteran leader? It's all TRUE!! :D Scottie has been great, a real veteran making clutch plays.

@ Boston:
After trailing 18-2 at the beginning of the game, I make a run late in the first and it's 29-19 Celtics lead. By halftime I'm down one, and Ray Allen has dragged us back in the game with 18 points in the half. But Scottie Pippen is the match winner here folks, He scores 10 points in the fourth and finishes the game with 18 (season high). He made a couple of threes in the 4th, and a midrange, and inside baskets. With me trailing by a point and less than a full shotclock, Pippen ends up with the ball in the corner after play gone wrong, he has a little space and knocks down a three on Jermaine Jones (celtics starter) with 3-odd seconds left. I win by 2 points.
Paul Pierce had 36. Antoine Walker had 16. Ray Allen finished with 29 and 6 assists in his Bulls debut. Drobnjak chipped in 10 points off the bench.
86-84 BULLS!

@ Minnesota:
I havent moved Spree to Minny just yet. I trailed by 51-40 at the half, and by 15 in the third, before making a run and trailing by 5 going in the fouth. Ray Allen was hot all game, and I find myself trailing by 3 points and exactly 10 seconds remaining. On the previous poessesion Jamal Crawford had an open three but missed from the corner. I got the ball back with 10 secs and called for time. Minnesota played Zone pretty much all game, and it was fun because once I realised what was happening I managed to get a lot of open shots, inside and out. So I had Pippen on top of the floor with 10 seconds, dribbled left towards the basket, and predictably Kendall Gill came over and doubled leaving the purest shooter in the league open in the corner! He hits the three with 1.2 seconds remaining, and Scottie Pippen blocks Sam Cassells last attempt (hey it's nba live, I know he's gonna shoot it straight away! :D) In overtime it's close again, and with the game tied, Scottie Pippen hits an 18 footer whilst being fouled (one of those animations where the legs fly everywhere and his hands go up in the air as the ball just pops out!). He makes the free throw too, and I win by a point. Kandi man had a shot to win it for minny but from the low post!
Ray Allen: 40 points, 5 assists.
106-105 BULLS!!
Pippen 12 (10 after half time) and 8 assits.
Crawford 22 & 9. Marshall and Curry: 10 pts each.
Sam Cassell led Minny wth 26, and got support from Sczczczcrebeijakovski with 24, and Kandi man chipped in 13 & 10.

...Deeeeep breath!

2 wins in a row. Ray Allen is the man, Scottie Pippen is a veteran savy crunch time hero, and he doesnt get migranes anymore!!! Jalen Rose sucks... :P[/b]

Yeah I saw your Lakers one yesterday, shall check them both out again a little later :)

Where was Garnett on the Wolves team?

Man I dunno what happened with Garnett, can't remember... I think it was foul trouble and he was ineffective.

y is jalen rose's rating only 78? i think he's around 88... what rosters did you use? Ray Allen's ratings are also that low he's around 90 i guess

I'm using the NLSC rosters, the ones that were edited or whatever for gameplay. The ratings of the players appear like what you mentioned (Rose: 88), but when you go to the edit screen you realise that their real ratings are much lower. I like seeing a players real ratings so I went to the edit screen for each player, and saved, then when you go back to re-order your rosters your ratings appear as what they really are.

My team feels much better now with Ray Allen, and finally having a backup centre in Drobnjak.

Well I lost to the Nets, 86-83. I trailed by almost 30 points, and it's a miracle that I got back in the game. It took a long time too, I got within two points with just under a minute left but couldn't actually tie it up. Of course they got a couple of break away dunks, I nailed a three, got the ball back once more, and Ray Allen missed a three to tie it up with seconds remaining. All that in a minute!!!
It was a tough game because it's nearly impossible to penetrate against Jason Kidd, even with Jamal Crawford. Hinrich is slow, so it was even more of a lost cause with him. I played Jamal most of the game and he finished with 9 points and 5 assists, while Jason Kidd had 21 and 9. Unable to get passed Kidd, meant it was pretty hard to set anything up for others like Ray Allen and Scottie Pippen. I probably should have gone to Ray more to work Kittles one on one.

Ray Allen: 14 points on 6 of 20 shooting. 1 of 7 from downtown, the only three coming late in the game which brought me within three points. This was Ray's worst game since joining my team, after 29 and 40 point games respectively.

Eddy Curry had 16 pts and 8 rbs, against Mourning who had 10 points. The reserve centres for both teams, Drobnjak and Mutombo had 10 and 2 points respectively.

Donyell Marshall ws my best player during a pathetic stretch where he was the only one scoring. He finished with 13 pts but only 3 boards. Scottie Pippen on the other hand was instrumental in my run in the 4th, hitting a huge three and finishing with 13pts and 6rbs.

Thanks Nick (y)

I lost a couple more games, but I don't remember who I lost the first one to...

Second game... my first against Mr. Lebron James. Well I lost by 5 points to the damn Cavs, and Lebron had 23pts, on 7 of 14 shooting, along with only a couple of boards and one assist. Holly shit I have fallen into the whole "look it's Lebron James" thing...

Ray Allen had 36, killed from downtown. Crawford had 20, and Curry 14...

Fuckin Cavs

I'll throw the soap before I drop it!!

I won two games in a row!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also the All-Star weekend passed for me and I simmed the game since none of my players were in it. Ray Allen easily had superior stats to Vince Carter, but Carter still got in and Ray didn't! Bullshit mate! :x

My last two games I beat New Orleans and Orlando both on the road. Scottie Pippen was great in both games, first against NO, he had 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists. Against Orlando he had 16 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists. Against Orlando he hit a clutch three with under a minute left to spark a quick run to victory. The NO game was a blowout.
