I remember reading@RealGM a thread about Marbury going completely crazy during the SL telecast and stupidity just kept flowing out of his mouth. Frazier and his co-announcer starred at him with fear and respect, but he couldn't be stopped. The funniest thing was that the NY tried him to defend with saying that he was obviously drunk and that he's nothing like this when sober.
What is best case scenario for this team? Can they actually make the playoffs? Is there any chance of that happening - any chance at all?

Yes there is. In Bizzaro Knicks World!
There is a chance if Isiah's perceived run-n-gun system works ala Phoenix.
Of course we have to suspend reality and assume Marbury is generous like Nash with the passes, they have a guy like Marion that can rebound and play decent D, have a well-rounded player like Diaw, have players that are good shooters, and unparalleled team chemistry.

So you're saying there's no chance in hell of that happening

?
I actually think IT will do better job at coaching this team than LB did - at least short term, but we all knew Brown needs time. Fact is - this team will have major problems regarding team chemistry - too many egoistical 'star' players. I remember Marbury being clearly pissed off when Crawford was hitting those game winning shots. And now add Francis in equation and you'll get even more problems. Their guards can't play without the ball in their hands and can't shoot or defend well, there's no shotblocking presence on the team, no interior defense and no rebounding. You need all that to be succesfull at run&gun game.

All i know is that Knicks need to play David Lee. That kid plays hard and he can & will rebound and as well as get cheap buckets.

That's what gets me. Don't you have to lead your team to victory in the playoffs before you're labeled a 'star' player? These cats haven't done sh!t.

Blasphemy! Marbury is as good as Oscar Robertson! Stats prove everything!
Sarcams, of course.
Fri Jul 28, 2006 3:15 pm
ummm, didnt oscar robertson average a triple double in a season or 2?? what kinda stats is marbury puttin up, that compares him to oscar robertson???
and about this francis thing, yall are really sleepin on him and if Isaih let stevie run the offense like rudy did, then stevie will be back to his self and knicks will go to the playoffs......because they do have a good team, but they all got non-compatible styles of play, with their other teammates......
Fri Jul 28, 2006 3:49 pm
knicks ship out marbury and they make the playoffs.... they shouldn't have signed him to an extension a couple years ago..... maybe then they would have hope.... francis is much better than marbury

They're the only players with career averages of 20+ppg and 8+assists.
Fri Jul 28, 2006 5:10 pm
He didnt just average a triple double, he averaged a solid triple double. 30ppg, 11+asst 11+rebounds
Oscar Robinson is easily one of the top five players to ever play the game.
Marbury is a the furthest player from Oscar Robinson in the league. Oscar also had a team attitude. He averages 8 assists like Iverson would average 8 assists.

The Knicks have too many players who expect to win a game and play 30+ minutes. Players that have played that for years and anything less is a disaster. It's a troubling situation when you got 8 players that have to play 30+ minutes in each game...
I'm saying is that Knicks could use some of Indiana's problems to solve the gridlocks at the guard position... A couple of injuries and I believe their game would get so much better as there would be less guys demanding more PT.
There just isn't enough PT to go around... They really need to get rid of some of those players and just go with 3-4 guards, 3-4 forwards and 2 centers... That's 10 players...
Guards: Marbury, Francis, Robinson, Crawford
Forwards: Frye, Richardson, Balkman
Center: Curry, Lee
And let the other guys get filler time...
But what the hell do I know...
Fri Jul 28, 2006 6:56 pm
Lee is not a centre, more of a combo forward and Rose would go mental if he doesn't play.
Fri Jul 28, 2006 7:14 pm
Rose has got a big expiring contract, though, so they should be able to trade him
Fri Jul 28, 2006 7:21 pm
For who? An overpaid cancer like they did in the past?
Fri Jul 28, 2006 7:28 pm
Whom they trade him for has nothing to do with the fact that he's easily tradeable. The Knicks' management's utter lack of any trading abilities is another matter. However, in theory they should be able to get at least someone valuable out of it.
Fri Jul 28, 2006 7:34 pm
If your team is willing to trade you for an expiring contract and nothing more (and that's exactly what the Knicks can give, because they have no valuable trade picks), then there's something wrong with you. I can't see anyone outside Chris Webber being available for that. Imagine Chris Webber on that them, a completely defensless PF taking away minutes from their younger players. Do it, Isiah, this needs to happen.
Fri Jul 28, 2006 8:51 pm
rose(expiring) for webber.. i see it happening but i hope not
Sat Jul 29, 2006 12:44 am
If Isiah read these forums he'd do that trade.
Anyway, I wouldn't give a sh-t if the Knicks just didn't play some of those supposedly big name player for more than 7 minutes. And if they'd whine then just pull a DNP on them.
C- Curry, James
PF- Frye, Lee, Balkman
SF- Lee, Balkman, Richardson
SG- Francis, Crawford, Collins
PG- Marbury, Robinson, Collins
James is only in there because Butler is gone (should've kept Nazr).
Screw Jalen Rose/Malik Rose/Mo Taylor.
Crawford sixth man, he's fits that role pretty well.
Of the current players, all I'd keep is Crawford, Curry, Richardson and this/last year's rookies.
Sat Jul 29, 2006 3:35 am
they should trade rose for a defensive center, that can block shots and rebound (dalembert).........but they probably wont
Sat Jul 29, 2006 5:54 am
they need to give David Lee more playing time. He's a hustle guy and very talented. He just needs more PT. Screw James,M Rose, Taylor. Those 3 should be waived. I also don't see Francis fitting in with the team. No way he can Marbury can play together. I say packaged Francis with James or Rose or Taylor to get a expiring contract or a center.
Sat Jul 29, 2006 2:42 pm
Jared Jeffries signs with the Knicks
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 01323.html
Where I live I probably get around 60-70 Wizards games a season and Jeffries is a pretty good player. The only problem I see is playing time. Jeffries is 6'11 and very long, can guard like 3 positions. He can run the floor a little bit too and has a decent J. Thing is he's just a role-player and he'll struggle for PT on the Knicks. Atleast he keeps his mouth shut though.
Sat Jul 29, 2006 3:48 pm
He hasn't signed with the Knicks yet, he just signed an offer sheet. The Wizards can still match the offer.
Sat Jul 29, 2006 5:27 pm
God im PRAYING the Knicks bomb out this season.
And with the first pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls select..Greg Oden
Sat Jul 29, 2006 7:37 pm

Sat Jul 29, 2006 8:59 pm
