I think thats the best idea I have heard yet. It doesnt take long to realize whether or not someone is a contributer or not. Give them free reign from the beggining, and only use caps as a punishment for thoughtless posts. I have seen quite a few people come in and make contributions from post numero uno; to cap them for three months may just drive them away, thus losing a valuable member. Caps should be used as a form of punishment, say, a step lower than banning. If a person is spamming or getting out of line, simply cap them at a post a day for a week or so, and then remove the cap and see if they want to contribute or not. If they decide they want to continue thier behaviour, just ban them.

Maybe this isn't the right place, but I can't stand threads like the "Buy or Sell" thread in NBA Talk. It sucks.

I mean, does anyone realize how easy it is to make a post in a thread like that? It takes like two seconds, you're not even required to give a reason for your choice, and then if you know anything remotely about the NBA, you can come up with a question.

So yeah, "Buy or Sell" threads should not be allowed on this forum.

I've been thinking about that for a couple days and I agree...i'll close it soon. It seems like a nice thread for post count whores.

It's not a bad idea in theory but without the need to state a reason those kind of threads degenerate into a spam thread fairly quickly.

same with the "rate this player in live 07" and "would you trade" threads.
