I've gotta agree with Steve on the new stuff, I can't stand it. I can barely understand what they're saying so the songwriting doesn't mean much to me.

Anyone that bashes any type of music doesn't have the slightest idea as of what goes into it. Do some types of music require more talent then others? Maybe so, but the fact is, whether it is metal with the hard guitar riffs or hip-hop with the thumping bass, it's still music.

Flite 23 is a fool for generalizing people that listen to rock/punk/metal music. Not everyone that listens to it is suicidal. That's like me saying all people who listen to rap wear do-rags, carry guns, and are "straight-up gangstas." It is complete and utter bullshit.

And as for Joe, like I said earlier most people don't understand what goes into music. You may think that rap takes no talent. But, I would love to see you come up with a solid beat and "bust rhymes" to it. It's much more difficult than one may think.

Anyways...back to the thread.

My favorite bands are...
-Bullet for My Valentine
-The Used
-Story of the Year
-Thrice
-Trivium
-Kids in the Way
-The Receiving End of Sirens
-Scary Kids Scaring Kids
-Dead Poetic

^Dude, you got owned big time.

But since you already started it, let's take a closer look at your list.

10. 50 Cent (back in his Power of A Dollar/Get Rich or Die Tryin' Days)
9. Jay- Z
8. Kanye West
7. Lupe Fiasco
6. DMX
5. Ice Cube
4. KRS- One
3. 2Pac
2. Nas
1. Eminem

Nobody that knows at least a little something about rap would put 50Cent in a top 10, not even a top 100...gotdamn, face it, his lyrics are wack, his flow is wack and he damn sure is not a gangster.

Jay-Z might appear in a top 10 at times in case the creator of the list doesn't know too many artists.

Kanye West released 2 commercial and mediocre albums. Put him in a producers top 10 and it's ok. But never ever one the best 10 rappers.

Lupe Fiasco...you're kidding, right?

Also there are a whole bunch of other rappers that are better than Ice Cube and DMX. By the way, am I the only who thinks DMX is annoying??

KRS-One, 2Pac and Nas are the only decent picks you made.

And Eminem at #1...I can only laugh at that.

Actually I'm listening: Thornley
Default
Linkin Park
P.O.D.
Nickelback
Socialburn

Rock is the best music because it is the one that explodes the electric guitar wich is the music instrument capable of do the widest range of sounds (except for shitty computer made music). Rap lyrics could sound like poetry but speaking of music Rap is just mediocre music. Every whipersnaper who like to mess around with music can do Rap music in 5 minutes while You have to master several instruments (especially the electric guitar) to make rock. That 's what I think.

You all should listen to all the South Central Cartel albums, especially 'N Gatz We Trust and All Day Everyday! Another great overall album is We Come Strapped by MC Eiht! And be sure to check Rappin' 4-Tay! Westcoast 4 Life! Compton 4 Death!

I would really say it is about the top 10 of anyone´s taste.
It is not about the top 10 rappers, because what would count then ?
The flow ? The lyrics ? The sold out concerts or platinum/gold ?

You cannot say this rapper has the flow, he is good.
You know Slimkid3, ex Pharcyde member ?
His flow is not the best, he is more "singing" but still in rap artist´s way ...
I like his style and he would be among my top 5 (but I took Pharcyde instead of only him)

Its a matter of taste !

And MightyMo, I watched the Pete Philly & Perquisite video, it was good, but the other track, "Mellow" really hit me, I love it ! ;)
Nice act you showed us there :)
