Dang. Is there any way that I can upgrade the one I have now? I bought the one included with the hard drive.
That irritates me because the game I got won't be coming out on 360....

I know next to nothing about the next generation systems, I just remember that from some random thing I read.

I wanna get me a xbox360 ...cause ps3 seems like it will have just about the same capabilities as xbox360 for way more money. Overstock.com had a deal for $306 yesterday for premium one. I just missed it.

Not all XBox games can be played on 360....only some of them....the more high profile ones like Halo 2 etc....haven't tried any myself, but that's what I understand it to be like....

That would explain that because I was tryin to play 50 Cent: Bulletproof and I don't think that's a high profile game....lol

Got back from my euro trip early morning yesterday and later that day I finally picked up my Xbox 360!
Ive barely played it much, but its fantastic.
I got the Premium edition (of course), Fifa World Cup, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, 2 controls and a recharge kit for $900 which was the best deal I could find where I could choose the games I got.

Any X360 with a hard-drive is one that has "backwards compatibility", no hard-drive means no place to store the profiles. Since you have the hard drive you have access to the profiles.
The X360 can only emulate old XBOX games, it doesn't have legacy hardware like the Playstation series of consoles does.
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwar ... eslist.htm
This is the list of games XBOX games guaranteed to work on the X360. If it's not on the list assume it does not work, even if it's possible it does, it's not supported.
Probably should take that 50 Cent game back and get "Barbie™ Horse Adventures™ Wild Horse Rescue™" as it works.
Also, you can't use any XBOX memory units, and you can't access the X360 one.

hopefully Jae reads this, but I didn't feel the need to start a new topic....
there seems to be a few decent to good to very good titles coming out for 360 in next few months ranging from Madden 07 to Dead Rising to Saints Rows and so on....
but my question is really to do with Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (I believe it's 6, it's the new one coming out)....
well anyways, I'm thinking of getting a soccer title & this would seem to be the obvious choice, although I must question the licensing of this game first though....I've heard that the game doesn't have player licensing so real player names are not in there....of course, it won't really matter for the big teams where I know the players, but if I want to play with a smaller team, I'll want to learn the 'real' players & their games....my question is if it doesn't have player licencing, would there be a roster update (like there is on PC) for XBox 360 via XBox Live, or is there not?!? as simple as that....I still might get the game even if no rosteris downloadable (I won't be getting it on PC to anyone who suggests that) but I wouldn't mind being informed of a few of the features that can overcome the lack of licensing....
Mon Aug 07, 2006 9:49 pm
The obvious feature is the gameplay. I downloaded this video off IGN and it showed gameplay, it ran so smooth that you wouldn't believe. Also, there are a few new modes when you first enter the menu, including "International Challenge" & "Random Selection Match".
Other than that, they are quietly building on their player licences to include about 6 international teams (Argentina, Netherlands etc.) that didn't have the correct line up before.
Even though that didn't answer all your questions, I hope it helped.
Mon Aug 07, 2006 10:27 pm
so that means that teams like Australia have correct lineups, no? if so, that's good news
Mon Aug 07, 2006 10:31 pm
I've been playing the Dead Rising demo and it looks like it will be a fun game
but
the best game to date on the 360 I think is going to be Saints Row....OMFG
Its a graphical update of GTA:SA basically except its ragdoll physics with blending animations. It looks fantastic and when you hit a wall or a car really hard head on either you or the driver of the other car goes flying thru the windshield like Flatout.
Also if there is a convertable behind someone and you shoot them with the shotgun they will fly into the back seat and you can drive around with them.
Its very sick, sadistic, realistic, and fun

a lot of parents are going to hate it.
Mon Aug 07, 2006 10:38 pm
yeah, I've heard great things about Saints Row....suppose to blow GTA series away, but we'll see....

Nah that's wrong, 90% of the teams have real player names/looks, the only things that have been changed are team names/stadium names, but PES is expanding the number of licenses they get every year anyway. The only teams that don't have real player names are the ones that aren't in any playable leagues, like Porto, Boca etc but you can find the real player/fake player names online and it's quite easy to change it.
....of course, it won't really matter for the big teams where I know the players, but if I want to play with a smaller team, I'll want to learn the 'real' players & their games....my question is if it doesn't have player licencing, would there be a roster update (like there is on PC) for XBox 360 via XBox Live, or is there not?!?
Well there is a large PES community that produces all sorts of updates, I don't know if there'd be any "official" ones available but you can check around here for answers

I have the demo on my 360 off marketplace.....and i can safely say it wont blow gta away in terms of gaqmeplay...only graphics. It's a fun game..but in terms of free world play...mafia also beats it. Don't get me wrong..saints row is good...but it's just somewhere between gta 3 and gta vice city in terms of content and gameplay. It doesn't/wont come close to gta san andreas. It doesnt even have simple things like motorbikes, bycles and aircraft.

Very true, overall it will not be better than any GTA i think, but the ragdoll physics for me provide hours and hours of play time

You could get away with a memory card for one or two games. It's been rumoured that Microsoft hopes to have doubled the games emulated by christmas time.. but its just a rumour.

Can a memory unit actually store the profiles? I've heard only the hard drive can.

Maybe you should look into Half-Life 2 and Garry's Mod if you're that into it.

been there done that

I love the Dismount Freeware games, Thrasher Skate and Destroy for PS1 (<= first game to my knowledge to use ragdolls) Dave Mirra;Unreal games, Far Cry, FEAR, HL2 CS:S, Condemned, Flatout 1 and 2, Freedom fighters, Black ect ect, if its got ragdoll physics, I play it.
After seeing (and I've also started to learn using it to)
http://www.naturalmotion.com 's endorphin in action at E3 with that football demo, man, I can't wait for basketball games to use that animation system.
but yah anyway, Im picking up dead rising this week sometime, IGN gave it a decent review (8.5)

cheers Jae....it looks like the game has a licence for the Australian National Team too which is good

Well, once again, I was having a look through the adds and I found NBA Live 06 for the 360 priced at $44.99, considering the PSP version is priced at $50, I found this to be quite cheap.

considering the quality of Live 06 on 360, I'd take the PSP version

and besides, Live 07 will be out in 2 months anyway so it's all good

It's overpriced...not cheap.

That's $50 Australian.

hey Jae, I'm gonna turn the topic back to Pro Evolution Soccer....does PES have a solid dynasty/career mode? like in all sports games, I like to start up dynasties with underachieving or crap teams & build them up....it is possible for me to use Cowdenbeath (my dad was born there) from the Scottish 2nd or 3rd division and build them up, or will it just be 1st division teams?!? or is this all in the Master League?!?
