It's Offical, Lakers Sign Karl Malone and Gary Payton

 Here it is

Oh ya, with karl malone signed for 2 years and payton multi-year(never said how much :? ) the lakers will be the 2004 NBA Champions and 2005 NBA Champions. Unless something happens like KG signs with the spurs or kobe leaves LA after the 2004 season as he said he will opt out of his contract. But ya now the other thing left to do is hope the lakers team works together and than sit back and watch them dominate.

Thanks for notifying us. We'll just skip these seasons and continue with 05-06 I guess since the champions are already decided?

ok, i will rephrase myself, in my mind, the lakers are the favorites to be the 2004 Nba Champions and depending what happens in the 2003/2004 season, the favorites for the 2005 Nba championship, happy?

Hey Rens, I think we should, like, start a new thread or something... Let's just leave the NBA Talk section for those Kobe fans to debate how wonderful those 2 championships with Karl & Gary were! (Y)

Just saw GP on the ESPYs in his new Lakers jersey (still #20) so I had to get online to check it out.
They reported at http://insidehoops.com that Payton would receive $4.9 million, and Malone will receive $1.5 million.
They also had this to say:
"The Lakers have signed Gary Payton and Karl Malone to contracts. It's official. The rest of the league is screwed."
Let's see, the Lakers could have a line-up out on the floor like this: Gary Payton, Kobe Bryant, Robert Horry, Karl Malone and Shaquille O'Neal. This sounds more like the starting 5 of the western conference All-Stars from a few years ago! Seriously, wasn't there an All-Star game with all these guys on the West squad not too long ago?

1 one ball is enough for Shaq, Kobe, Payton and Malone :?: I think Phil Jackson have o lot of work to control the stars.
But with 5s to the end, who takes the shot?
1st-Kobe
2nd-Malone
3rd-Shaq

no, how bout:

1. Kobe
2. Payton
3. Kobe

in a clutch situation.
Malone chokes in clutch, and the other team would just foul Shaq, and he'd miss.

anyway, the lakers look great this season, im just windering how the rotation will go, i was hopin kareem rush would get some more playing time. oh well.

Kobe and Payton.................the best backcourt ever?

Duncan in the 90s? I agree, he is better than Malone but at 00s. He signed in 97.
Whatever, do u think Spurs can beat Lakers in next regular season 4-0?, 3-1?

rings for frontcourt:

Duncan & Robinson: 2 ('99 &'03)
Shaq & Malone: none (Shaq has 3 but they dont count since Malone wasnt there)

so it's clear that Duncan & Robinson is better.

Yes, let's use championship rings to prove who the better player/duo is, because is such a fair way of doing it. Randy Brown has 3 rings, is he better than TMac, Kidd, Iverson or Payton?? Don't think so. Find a different way of proving that they are the better duo, because that theory doesn't prove anything....

2- KARL MALONE - 36374, 18 seasons
24 - DAVID ROBINSON - 20790, 14 seasons
27- SHAQUILLE O´NEAL - 20475, 11 seasons
? - TIM DUNCAN - 10324, 6 seasons

Karl Malone took both of them out in 5 games in the 98 Playoffs by himself since the Jazz had no productive centers at the time. It was basically two on one and Malone won.

rings for frontcourt:

Duncan & Robinson: 2 ('99 &'03)
Shaq & Malone: none (Shaq has 3 but they dont count since Malone wasnt there)

so it's clear that Duncan & Robinson is better.

What are you talking about? Where's the logic: Duncan and Robinson are better since they've won two rings but Shaq and Malone haven't won one together(maybe that's because they haven't ever played together  ). How about you actually let both of them play together and see what they do?

Had they ever played together in the 90s you'd probably have been right.

I don't think they'll be the best frontcourt of the coming season either. (Garnett-Kandi, Duncan-Nesterovic)

i personaly think rauph sampson and hakeem olaguwon(how do y ou spell his name?) were one of the best front courts ever, and i think gary payton and kobebryant are the best back court currently. But shaq and karl will be a dominate front court :P

Well, the best front court of the 90s were Olajuwon & Thorpe, no doubt about it, knowing the Bulls didn't have power like these guys and Ewing - Oakley never got a ring, if we are talking about champions, thost 2 were the best. Then switch Thorpe & put Barkley, but they didn't get a ring together, :(

Shaq - Horace Grant was good too. Mourning-Johnson in Charlotte one of the best young frontcourts.

Shaq and Malone the best frontcourt 90s..i wrong

ok, there's no point to argue cuz the original statement didnt make sense. shaq and malone will play in the same frontcourt in '03~04, hello! it's not the 90s no more. so, TamuraBR, i am sorry, you still wrong.

heh..if u look at it from a certain point of view he is right though...Like if u just break it down to individual success and imagine them together, and if u just compare stat wise...
how do i make a fancy signature?
