Ray Allen explodes as Sonics win first game at home.

November 5th, 2006.

Atlanta Hawks (0-1) vs. Seattle Supersonics (0-0).

The Hawks looked to have been on their way for their first win of the season until Ray Allen took over the game and the Sonics won 119-113 in which was an exciting scoring battle at the Sonics Arena.

The Hawks began the game with a 9-2 run in the first 2 minutes, they looked to be in control as they were making plenty of defensive stops but they couldn't capitalize their defensive efforts on the offensive end. The Sonics got a few fast breaks and went on an 11-2 run to cut the deficit to one point, Ray Allen shot a 3 pointer over Joe Johnson to take the lead for the first time in the game after 7 minutes of play. Luke Ridnour and Nick Collison entered early foul trouble for the Sonics. Ray Allen missed a buzzer beater and the Hawks finished the quarter ahead 28-27. Al Harrington and Rashard Lewis both had 12 points in the quarter. Both Ray Allen and Josh Childress added 9 each and Joe Johnson only had a single point for the Hawks.

The quarter began with another run, 8-2, for the Hawks. The Hawks added another 7 points onto that run until Ray Allen threw down a nice 2 handed power dunk. That run ended 17-4. Ray Allen went up for a fast break lay-up which ended up with Josh Smith fouling and on the ground holding his hip. Craig Sager received an update about Josh Smith, it was only a bruised hip and he could possibly return to the game. Josh Smith would end up starting at half-time and play the rest of the game. Ray Allen stepped up his game, scoring 8 points in a 14-4 run which included Chris Wilcox dunking on Marvin Williams hard and getting the foul. Tyronn Lue missed a buzzer beater as the Hawks entered the half-time break up 57-52. Ray Allen had 19 first half points but from 7-22 shooting. Hawks bench outscored the Sonics bench 23-5.

The Sonics began to play their style of basketball, quick fast breaks, outside shooting, getting inside for the bucket. They also began taking advantage of Chris Wilcox being defended by Bruno Sundov. The Sonics eventually fought back and Ray Allen's 3 point play gave them a 2 point lead, but Al Harrington scored 4 easy points in a row to give the Hawks back the lead. But the Sonics were not downed by this, they got the lead back and stayed in the lead for the last 6 minutes of the quarter. They were continuing their strong play and lead 85-81 at 3 quarter time. Ray Allen had another strong quarter, this time adding 12 points to his point total.

Rashard Lewis started the quarter by knocking over 2 Hawks players and dunking it hard and getting the foul. The crowd erupted into madness. After that, the Sonics began jacking up stupid shots which allowed the Hawks to regain the lead. Chris Wilcox was brought back into the game to take advantage of Bruno Sundov's sloppy Defence, which he did, as he did not miss one shot. The Sonics suddenly went on a steal-a-thon but they kept taking bad shots after it and turning it over themselves but the Sonics had the momentum and gained a double-digit lead. Ray Allen exploded with 14 fourth quarter points and was subbed off with 3 minutes left in the game with a standing ovation from the crowd. The Hawks cut the lead from 20 points down to 6 points with 48 seconds left in the game and they began fouling but it was too little to late as the Sonics won 119-113.

Ray Allen was player of the game with 45 points, 18-40FG, 5 assists and 3 steals, 2 rebounds.

Not really, I may sign a Shooting Guard because I don't have a back-up one. But I did pretty well tonight rotating Watson, Wilkins, Allen and Lewis around the SF and SG spots.

Thanks man, and thanks for the suggestion, I may look into that for my next match.

Guys, does the recap look hard to read, especially for you 1280x1024+ resolution screens like me? I can read it okay but do you think I should put enters half way down each sentence and make it look like how .Dee. posts?

I would prefer to limit the paragraphs/spacing cuz the way it is now it looks way longer than it actually is so it may discourage people.

18 players signed.

November 6th, 2006.

Today, 18 players were signed to teams that had needs, many veterans were picked up, hoping that they'll contribute one way or another. Significant signings included the Toronto Raptors signing Keon Clark for $2.26M for 1 year, the Chicago Bulls signing Penny Hardaway for $1.36M for 1 year, the Milwaukee Bucks signing Jamal Mashburn for $3M for 1 year, the Charlotte Bobcats signing Glenn Robinson for $4.56M for 1 year and the Philadelphia 76ers signing Latrell Sprewell for $2.64M for 1 year.

Sonics poor shooting hurt them as Spurs prevail

November 7th, 2006.

San Antonio Spurs (0-1) vs. Seattle Supersonics (1-0).

The Sonics gave the defending champions a run for their money as they looked for a second consecutive win but missed shots for the Sonics late in the game saw the Spurs take this game, despite Tim Duncan only scoring 10 points.

The Sonics began the game by missing a few inside buckets but then they suddenly erupted with a Luke Ridnour steal and fade away shot, and 2 fast break 3 pointers by Ray Allen, to go on a 14-0 run in 130 seconds of play. Nick Collison added some points on the scoreboard, including a facial dunk on Tim Duncan. The Sonics began to make the same mistakes like they did against the Hawks, too many rushed shots and passes, as well as sloppy defense which allowed the Spurs to come back within 3 points of the lead. Ray Allen got fouled by Brent Barry on a 3 point shot with 7 seconds left in the quarter. Ray Allen sunk all 3 free throws and missed shots by Michael Finley and Robert Horry ended the first quarter with the Sonics leading 26-20. Nick Collison scored 7 points and grabbed 4 boards and Ray Allen scored 9 points and 2 assists. The Spurs leading scorer was Manu Ginobili with 6 points but they had 7 individual scorers.

Both teams were playing equally well to start the second quarter. Ray Allen hit a nice fade away jumpshot with 1 second on the shot clock. Both teams turned down the tempo, with the Sonics trying to use as much time as possible to stay in the lead and the Spurs were taking their time to find the perfect shot. The Spurs went on a 15-5 run to bring the deficit down to 2 points as the Spurs began to play their trademark defence. A quick 7-2 run by the Sonics made sure that the Spurs weren't going to touch the lead. That didn't stop the Spurs as they fought hard and regained a 1 point lead from a Michael Finley fast break lay-up with 16 seconds left in the half. Rashard Lewis hit a running lay-up with 7 seconds left but Danny Fortson fouled a Tony Parker 3 point attempt and nailed all 3 free throws. The ball was given to Earl Watson down the court and his buzzer beater 3 bounced out of the rim as the half ended with the Spurs ahead 50-48. Tim Duncan was the leading scorer for the Spurs with 10 points from 4-4 shooting. Ray Allen had 15 points for the Sonics.

Neither team could really get a rhythym going early in the third quarter as both teams were missing quite a few shots, most embarrasing was when Rashard Lewis was alone on a fast break, drove across the baseline and went for a turn around, double handed slam and it came off the ring. Both teams began to turnover the ball a lot more, sloppy passes, like an attempted through the legs pass by Luke Ridnour on the fast break ended up in the hands of Tony Parker. Both teams only managed 6 points each in the first half of the quarter. The Sonics began to rush too many passes and the Spurs stole the ball and scored on fast breaks to get their biggest lead so far in the game at 8 points. The Sonics went on a 8-0 run which included three 3 point play opportunities but only Ray Allen and Chris Wilcox capitalized whilst Earl Watson's free throw rolled out of the bucket. The run tied the scores with 90 seconds left in the quarter. The quarter finished with Ray Allen hitting 6-6 Free throws in 50 seconds as the Sonics entered the final quarter ahead 72-70. Ray Allen scored 13 points in the quarter. Tim Duncan and Michael Finley were kept to zero points.

The Sonics began the final quarter looking like they'll be taking the game but too many stupid terrible passes led to two easy Spurs buckets and they took the lead. The Sonics looked to be making a slight comeback with a nice fade away from Ray Allen but Michael Finley made a 3 point play to extend the lead to 6 points. The Sonics began to force up too many shots as the Spurs took advantage of it but couldn't convert it onto the scoreboard. An 8-3 run for the Sonics triggered by a Johan Petro 3 point play, huge stuff on Tim Duncan, brought the deficit to 3 points with 2 minutes left in the game. The Spurs entered the final minute with an 8 point lead as the Sonics lost their 3 point touch. Rashard Lewis finally hit a 3 pointer, but with only 1.5 seconds left in the game, it was too little too late as the Spurs finished out winner 104-97.

Manu Ginobili was named player of the game with 23 points, 10-15FG, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block.

Tough loss.
Ray Allen seems to be getting a decent amount of points but 9-24 from the field isn't convincing.

Good luck next game. (Y)

Okay, well I've decided to change my recap style to weekly, so you guys don't have to put up with reading ~1000 words per game. Hopefully only ~1000 per week :P .

IMO People who just want pics for a dynasty are just like you said Jugs, retards, your not going to just stare at pics and determine what happend in the game.
The game against the Spurs is perfect for reading, you covered pretty much everything, if you cover recaps like that for the rest of the season it will be good. (Y)

Thanks man, well, I'm not going to continue covering the games THAT detailed, but they'll be recapped, but I'll be doing weekly recaps with mentionings of each game and positive/negative stats of the week sort of, nah mean? Just wait until I play my games and do it, then you'll know what I mean.

12th November - 19th November recap.

Game 1 - November 12th, 2006.

Toronto Raptors (0-4) vs. Seattle Superonics (1-1)

The Raptors were on a losing streak and the Sonics seeked for the advantage against the under-manned Raptors. But the Raptors started the game with an 8-0 run. That didn't last for long as the Sonics fought back and went on a 16-2 run of their own. Neither did that run last for long as the Raptors answered back with a 10-2 run and Ray Allen got into some foul trouble. The Sonics finished the quarter ahead 24-22.

The Sonics could only manage to increase their lead to as high as 8 points but they turnovered the ball too many times which allowed the Raptors to sniff a chance. The quarter saw Sonics big men Chris Wilcox and Nick Collison get points on the board after both having scoreless opening quarters. The Sonics continued strongly, even with star player Ray Allen riding the bench. Eventually, Ray Allen was put on and continued the Sonics run but he got himself back into foul trouble. The Sonics finished the first half with a 13-4 run and would enter the half-time break ahead 53-40.

The Raptors finally began to find their range in the 3rd quarter but they were outshunned by Ray Allen, who was simply unstoppable for the defenseless Raptors. The Sonics were definitely exciting their homecrowd with exceptional plays like a double-handed windmill on a fastbreak by Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis grabbing his own rebounded miss and slamming the ball on Joey Graham and getting the foul and Robert Swift dunking over Chris Bosh. Johan Petro was a surprise scorer for the Sonics as he scored 9 points to add to Ray Allen's 17 points in the 3rd quarter to go into the final quarter ahead 88-67.

The Sonics easily continued their momentum throughout the final quarter, increasing the lead to as large as 38 points. The Raptors salvaged a late 8-0 run but it was all over by then as Ray Allen got the ball on the fast break with 3 seconds left in the game and he tomahawked it down from jumping a foot past the free throw line to end a spectacular individual game, and team game, with the score 120-86.

Player of the game was Ray Allen with 44 points, 20-38FG, 5 assists, 3 steals, 1 block and 2 rebounds.

:new: Kenny Smith's play of the game :new:

"Here is Alvin Williams on the fast break, you know Kevin, we haven't seen him play that... OH AND HERE COMES NICK COLLISON WITH THE HUGE BLOCK, you go young gun! A big man chasing down a guard down the court and blocking him into the backboard, great!"

Game 2 - November 14th, 2006.

Memphis Grizzlies (4-0) vs. Seattle Superonics (2-1)

The Grizzlies have had an excellent start to the season with 4 wins as they travel to Seattle to continue their run. The Sonics play their final home game before going on a long road trip. The Grizzlies started the game in style with an 8-0 run. Rashard Lewis got into quick foul trouble but that didn't stop the Sonics from going on a 13-2 run to retake the lead which saw Ray Allen score 9 of those points. Bobby Jackson, Shane Battier and Lorenzon Wright also got into foul trouble for the Grizzlies. Despite being in foul trouble, the Grizzlies finished the quarter with a 27-21 lead due to poor shooting and rebounding by the Sonics.

Rashard Lewis was put back on the court for the Sonics but he got his 3rd foul but he was kept on for a few minutes longer as he was deemed useful. Earl Watson and Luke Ridnour got into foul trouble as well. The Grizzlies continued their strong defence as they didn't allow the Sonics to go on any possible runs. Lorenzon Wright got his 3rd foul and got injured after being caught under a Robert Swift dunk. His diagnosis was back spasms, but he was able to return to the game. The Grizzlies finished the quarter with a 55-44 lead, including making a 13-5 run.

The Sonics began to lose concentration and start jacking up difficult shots, the Grizzlies took advantage of that and increased their lead. The Sonics failed to do anything spetacular as they missed shot after shot as the Grizzlies went on a 23-3 run to close out the quarter ahead 92-63.

If there was a Joga Bonito in basketball, the Sonics would be the exact opposite. Their ugly play continued in the final quarter, and they had no luck either, many times they would get fouled and miss a dunk and only get 1 free throw in, where there could've potentially been 3 points. The game finished with an airball from Rashard Lewis as the Grizzlies won 111-87.

Player of the game was Pau Gasol with 22 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block.

Kenny Smith's play of the game.

"..the ball passed into Pau Gasol in the low post, double-team comes over, fadeaways and in! He's been doing that all day baby, all day."

Game 3 - November 16th, 2006.

Seattle Supersonics (2-2) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (4-1)

The Sonics traveled to Philadelphia to play their first road game of the year against the in form Sixers. The Sixers started the game by taking the early lead but then the Sonics went on a 12-3 run with Ray Allen scoring most of the points. The Sonics continued their dominance with excellent shooting from Ray Allen as he went 13 from 17 from the field to score 31 first quarter points as the Sonics finished ahead 41-25.

Allen Iverson got into some foul trouble early in the 2nd quarter as Ray Allen continued his excellent shooting. The Sonics got out to a 20 point lead and looked to be staying there. Although Ray Allen began to go cold, he was placed on the bench for the first time, after scoring 39 points already. The Sixers did go on a 12-6 run in the final 6 minutes of the quarter but it wasn't enough as the Sonics went into the break ahead 61-43. Ray Allen scored 41 first half points.

The Sixers started the 3rd quarter with a 7-0 run but the Sonics managed to answer back with a 7-2 run. Ray Allen stupidly got into foul trouble by hacking at the ball which caused the Sixers to manage bringing the Sonics lead down to 11 points. Ray Allen received his 5th personal from a stupid coaching decision which saw him stay on the court. The Sixers got to within 10 points but the Sonics went on a 10-2 run to bring it back to a 19 point lead then the Sixers went on a 14-2 run to bring it down to 7 points. The Sonics did manage one more basket to finish the 3rd quarter ahead 90-81.

The Sixers managed to get as close as 6 points early in the 4th quarter but some great defence by the Sonics prevented them from going further. Ray Allen received his 6th personal and the Sixers got to within 4 points of the Sonics' lead. The Sonics continued to have the lead down the final stretch. Damien Wilkins dunked on Allen Iverson and Allen Iverson got his 6th foul. The Sonics extended their lead to 9 points then the Sixers scored 7 points in a row with 90 seconds left. Samuel Dalembert hit a tip in to level the scores at 111 with only 47 secs left. Rashard Lewis drove in and got hit hard by Kyle Korver and was sent to the line and nailed both free throws. Then Kyle Korver missed a 3 point shot and the Sixers fouled Nick Collison hit both free throws. Latrell Sprewell had one last hope for the win but his 3 ball spun out of the rim and the Sonics won the game 115-111.

Player of the game was Ray Allen with 44 points, 18-29FG, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, 6-6 FT in 22 minutes.

Kenny Smith's play of the game.

"..Ray Allen drives in and left-handed tomahawk jam! That was nice Kevin, real nice. That's his 41st point in this half, Kev."

Game 4 - November 17th, 2006.

Seattle Supersonics (3-2) vs. New Jersey Nets (3-1)

Both teams coming off losses, both teams came in wanting to win this game. The Nets came out way too aggresively as they fouled 3 times in the opening minute, including 2 fouls from Vince Carter. The Sonics capitalized as they kept the Nets scoreless for the first 7:30 of the game, while scoring 18 points themselves. Jason Kidd hit a 3 pointer to break the drought which would be the only score for the Nets that quarter as the Sonics finished the quarter ahead 26-3. The Nets went 1/15 from the field as the Sonics went 11/15.

The Nets managed to regroup in the 2nd quarter and put another 19 points on the board. The Sonics looked to struggle offensively but they still kept a 43-22 at the break.

The 3rd quarter wasn't exciting at all as both teams turned to a slow pace game. The Sonics still kept their lead, finishing ahead 73-45.

The game was pretty much over in the final quarter, the Sonics had won the game in a dominant fashion, 96-69.

Player of the game was Ray Allen with 29 points, 10-23FG, 9 steals, 6 assists, 3 rebounds,

Kenny Smith play of the game.

"Here's Jason Kidd with the ball, will he amazingly dish it to an open man.. no, he's open himself and he hits the 3! Finally, Nets put some points on the board."

Game 5 - November 19th, 2006.

Seattle Supersonics (4-2) vs. Toronto Raptors (1-7)

After totally dismantling their last opponents, the Sonics traveled to Canada to verse the Raptors as they seeked revenge from a week ago. The Raptors began the game quite strongly having the small lead as Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis were the only scorers for the Sonics in the first quarter, well for most of it because Danny Fortson hit a full court buzzer beater from a rebound from a Chris Bosh miss with 0.6 seconds left in the first quarter. The full court shot put the Sonics in the lead at the break, 28-27. Ray Allen scored 15 and Rashard Lewis managed 10 points.

The 2nd quarter was an even battle until the Raptors went on a strong run to get a 12 point lead. The Sonics tried to fight back but Ray Allen got into foul trouble and the Raptors finished the quarter ahead 57-48. The Sonics actually had a 100%, 3/3 record from the 3pt line, very rare so far in this season.

The Raptors continued to have their lead and all hopes for the Sonics were broken when Ray Allen got fouled out with 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. The Raptors played strong and won this game 110-102. I simmed till the end of the game, too pissed off

Player of the game was Morris Peterson with 30 points, 6 assists, 7/12FG.

Kenny Smith's play of the game

"Chris Bosh, shoots, misses, Danny Fortson rebounds and throws it at the basket, OH AND IT GOES IN! Miracle shot from the Raptors free throw line by Danny Fortson! My oh My."

Here concludes, if you must say, part 1 of my week recap. The 2nd part is the positive/negative stats for the Supersonics from each game plus Power Rankings.

I will be alternating between Power Rankings and current Sonics' stats for each weekly recap.

About time you updated this. The Play of the Game is a simple, yet very good addition to your game recaps. (Y)

I didn't expect positive feedback straight away  . I expected it after a retard demanded for pics and someone coming to the rescue.

Anyways, I'm glad you like and have saved it for later. Ray Allen is great, he's averaging around 36 points per game I think (it was at 39.7ppg)

Lol yes, a mere 3 weeks since my last update, I'll try to be more consistent now  .

The play of the game (I call it the 'commentate of the game' but it doesn't make much sense) was essentially something that randomly popped into my head whilst I was brainstorming with Mark (well I was brainstorming to him :? ) and I decided to scrap the interviews as it doesn't add much unless it has comedic value/a punchline.

Pos/Neg stats will hopefully be posted tomorow because I was buggered from all that typing before (well, all I mainly did was .. ah I won't share my secretLOLZ)

Damn... Chris Bosh AND Graham got crapped on in the first game. Oh well, at least they won the second game.
