Arrgghh! What song is this?

Thu May 11, 2006 8:25 am

I've got this song stuck in my head but I can't find out what it's called. Part of the lyrics, I think at the end of the chorus, go "But you don't even know who I am." It's not a new song, and it was fairly popular when it came out. I tried to google it, but I didn't find the song I'm thinking of. It's a guy singing it and it's a rock-type song. Anyone know it?

Horrible band, catchy song. Three Doors Down. (N)

"you love me but you don't
you love me but you don't
you love me but you don't know who i am"

No, that's not it either. If it helps, I think the video for it was like a guy walking down a street and there were a bunch of flowers growing around him.

Thu May 11, 2006 9:18 am

you sure? i find it hard to believe that two popular songs feature the exact same line, yet one of them can't be found on any lyric searches o_O

not saying you're wrong just want to make sure so you don't waste your time. check this link just in case :D

Do You Even Know Me Anymore Lyrics
Mark Schultz

It's cold tonight,
I heard her say.
She was staring out the window
As I came home late.
She tried to smile
but looked away
Oh I could see the tears were running
Down her face
She said...
You go to work,
You pay the bills.
I stay at home,
And I make the meals

But you don't even know who I am anymore.
You're a million miles away
Though I see you every day
And I've been waiting right here,
Oh for all these years
And sometimes I get so lonely,
I need to know you love me
But do you even know me anymore?

I turned around.
To see my son.
Oh, I remember his first birthday,
Now he's twenty-one.
I missed his life.
I missed it all,
Oh, to him I was a man
Just living down the hall.
He said... I learned to live,
Without you Dad
But i'd give it all
Just to have you back.

But you don't even know who I am anymore.
I used to wait at all my games
But still you never came
And I've been waiting right here,
Oh for all these years
From the time you said you'd owe me,
I've wanted you to show me
But you don't even know me anymore?

I've watched my days,
Turn into years
And now I'm wondering how I wound up here.
I dreamed my dreams
I made my plans
But all I've built here is an empty man.

And I don't even know who I am anymore.
Oh, God I'm praying through the tears,
Let me make up for these years
Oh, have I waited too long?
Can I start again,
To be the man you've wanted of me
I'm begging you to show me
But do you even know me anymore?

If you go to www.allmusic.com , you can listen to clips of the songs, which I've been doing, and it's not any of them. I didn't try that last one though ...

I know it's not the 3 Doors Down song because
1) it goes
"You love me but you don't know who I am
I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand
You love me but you don't know who I am
So let me go, just let me go"

and 2) I have that CD. :|

Thanks for trying though, this is buggin the hell out of me. :x

I just want to say the song Rapture by Hurt is one hell of a song. (Y)

Thu May 11, 2006 11:35 am

I think the artist from the video's first name is John. I don't know if the video and the song are the same though. Damn it ... :x

Call a radio station- seriously.

Thu May 11, 2006 12:22 pm

Download Rapture by Hurt on limewire! Kick ass song!

Thu May 11, 2006 12:27 pm

cable guy, did you hear this song from a movie or a tv show?

Thu May 11, 2006 12:32 pm

Neither. It was a music video I saw a long time ago, and then I just caught some of it on the radio Tuesday, but not enough to hear the title. I'm starting to think I misheard the lyrics. :?

Sorry to try and Hijack your thread but does anyone know the band that sings this song. Just remember the chorus nothing else, its a pretty old song possible 2000?

"You do what you do, you say what you say but you are everything you wanted to be" and then the dudes like "laaaaaaaa do everything(or something like that) laaaa blah blah blah"

Its got this police siren like sounding guitar beat, well at least the start of it. It sounds kinda like Everclear - Wonderful. Plus the video has them playing in this huge house(white colored walls) and some girls dancing in front of them and suddenly them being put on pause or the girls being put on pause or something like that. :?

Cableguy, whats the vocalist tone like(compared it to a band you know) and also whats the tempo of the track? Im assuming by rock type you mean Pop rock aka Simple Plan. :wall:

Fri May 12, 2006 6:46 am

Nah, it's not like Simple Plan. :lame:

It sounds kind of like 3 Doors Down (same kind of rock), but I think it's a solo artist. Vocalist tone? Hmm, I don't know, maybe 3 Doors Down again. All I'm sure of is that the video had a guy walking down a street with giant plants growing around him, and it was grungy-looking.

I'll throw this out because it sounds similar

Fri May 12, 2006 8:09 am

Possibly the Goo Goo Dolls-Iris?

:D I recognize that, I think you're right. For some reason, I didn't connect the two. Now to find out ...

EDIT: YES! Thank you! Oh man, that was bugging me. I don't think it's the video with the plants too, but I'm not sure. I thought that people would have recognized the video, it seemed pretty unique.

"I just want you to know who I am..." is the last line of the chorus (or whatever part it is) in Iris

Fri May 12, 2006 11:04 am

Yeah, that's it. Now to 'get' that song ...

I found the video for Iris, it's not the one I was thinking of. Anyone know what video that was, the one with giant plants?

Fri May 12, 2006 11:07 am

Stevesanity, is this it?

Fri May 12, 2006 10:34 pm

The video for Iris has parts of City of Angels in it, right? Guy sitting high in the tower, looking through a scope and such. I thought it wa Iris, but you went on mumbling about some giant fucking beenstalk.

So yeah, I loves that song.

Its not Everclear, its a relative unknown aka one hit wonder band from what I remember. Doesnt matter I'll try and find out myself since it may get played or one of my friends might know it.

Another song thats popped in my head, anyone know that song which is sorta a rock/jazz track and has trumphets playing. The vocalist has a deep and raspy type of voice, I guess he sounds like Dave Grohl when he's screaming and well the chorus is like "Ever I see your words, wonder what will happen, what will she will do" or something like that. Actually those lyrics are probably wrong but its sorta like that and its a pretty popular and old track it gets played in a few TV series and feature length movies.

The beats like Pupp, Pupp, Pupp, Puppe, Pupp, Pupp, Pupp, Puppe, Puppe, Puppe. The trumphet goes from regular tone to higher tone for two beats before returning to regular tone.
