You read it right folks...another pc basketball game. I dont have much hopes for this one though..it's subscription based. If the community thrives..perhaps we could adopt it to the nlsc....who knows:P

That seems like a pretty good change for pc basketball gaming but Q1 2007 release date doesn't make me very anxious yet.

The graphics dont look too good from the screenshots, hopefully gameplay is better.

If the graphics were God like, that means it'll be harder for it to become "a massively multiplayer online basketball game for the PC" as not everyone has a leet PC

I've played this game in Korea for quite a while now.
This game is amazing and don't let the graphics fool you. This is probably one of the best and realistic games of basketball that exist. There are quite a lot of things I like about this game.
1. The game is not a dunkfest. You'll see only 1 or 2 dunks in a single game, which is how it should be.
2. The rebounding in this game relies mostly on timing and only a little on abilities. Learn how to position and time your rebounds and you'll get the rebound most of the time, not by chance or anything. So if a person has the rebounding down, chances are he'll own you on the boards.
3. Not too many fancy tricks. There is a trick manuveur but it doesn't work as well and you can't abuse it.
4. The shooting works well. The timing for shooting in this game is quite tricky and you'll miss quite often in the beginning, especially 3 point shots. I think the percentages and everything are done right.
5. Fundamentals. This game almost relies solely on fundamentals (which can be a bad thing I guess) so you need to play basketball the right way.
What I don't like:
1. The positions are a bit too specialized so it's a bit boring to be a guard. A lot of guards end up being just 3 point specialists and nothing else.
2. Not too much customization...unless you want to lose. It's almost impossible to become a jack of all trades type guy in this game...
3. Quite hard to be good in this game unless you practice a whole shitload. The timing of everything in this game takes a while to get used to, especially the rebounding.
Overall I think this is a great game. Also, the game title seems to imply an NBA street style game, but it is nowhere near that. I hardly ever used the trick button at all when playing this game, and it isn't recommended. Nor do you see everyone dunking all the time. One thing though, don't play full court in this game (there is that option) as it was clearly not intended to be played full court.
There seems to be a 5 on 5 mode now, but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe now it can be played well in full court.
Oh yea, the game is free in Korea...guess it won't be free in the US?

Cool.

A street basketball game shouldn't have the following tendancies...

If it were an NBA game, those features were nice. But it's street, it's suppose to be arcade and fun, right?
It looks intruiging though... the graphics look like a cartoon... which is different and actually kinda cool.
So, what is it? A multiplayer subscription game like world of warcraft or something?
EDIT: I did some reading. This sounds sweet as. Freestyle will support one-on-one, three-on-three, and five-on-five matches of five minutes in length, and every single guy and girl on the court will be controlled by another player.
Freestyle will incorporate a role-playing game-style experience system, and as you progress through the character levels--1 to 45--you'll earn points that can be spent on improving both your skill and your wardrobe.
Freestyle will also feature support for organized clans (or teams, at least), and VU Games is hoping to implement some kind of jersey-design feature that will let organized groups of players create uniforms for themselves.
We should TOTALLY organise an NLSC group!

Nice to have little change in basketball games on the PC.
How come is free in Korea?

Team NLSC would kick ASS! This one seems like a must buy...

bang is korean? interesting
and cel shaded streetball, nice

Weird.
Interesting... but... weird. It would take quite a while to get used to every player in the game being controlled by a human being, rather than you controlling everyone yourself.
I'd check it out, definitely. Hopefully they offer a demo.

Yea it's weird...it's not a "street" game at all. I don't think the "street" part really fits in except for the fact that you wear street clothes and all that in the game. It's more like when you actually play basketball in a pick up game or something.
Well the game's basically free in Korea. You get one player for free, but if you want to create another player using the account, you gotta pay. There are also some non-essential moves and clothes that you have to buy with cash (the clothes give stat bonuses).

looks alright and Bang you've given it a bit of hype, let's hope it lives up to it

It's a pretty simple game. The game's been imported here in the philippines and it's gotten a lot of good publicity. I've played for a few days. It's ok. It's like a bball rpg. Pretty simplistic controls and very arcadish
Thu May 04, 2006 3:34 pm
so do we in america have to wait for to pay for it or can we get it like you guys in asia?
Thu May 04, 2006 6:52 pm
sounds like NBA Street's career mode.
since it's a MMO, I'm guessing it's just like going to the park and playing pick up games without leaving your home
Thu May 04, 2006 7:53 pm
Im not going to buy it
It sounds cool but Street Basketball is not a video game need for me. I already got Street V3 anyways so im all good/
Thu May 04, 2006 7:56 pm
Have you read anything of this thread? Bang clearly stated that the Street is irrelevant to the gameplay as it is really realistic...
Thu May 04, 2006 11:51 pm
Not only that..but the fact that it's a mmo makes it quite appealing to me.

I played it for like three weeks everyday when I was in Korea last summer. It's addicting..
It doesn't get old as fast as other basketball games because you only control one player and it is not predictable what your other teammates or opponents will do..
There are some street gameplay to it since some moves make your character roll on the floor with the ball faking your opponent.. but it doesn't really change the overall outcome of the game.
You could choose your character between center, guard, and forward. When you level up to some level, you could change your guard to SG/PG and your forward to PF/SF. There are different moves/characteristics for each positions..
It was free in korea except all the clothes that boost your skill points and 2nd characters.. I don't know how they will do it in America.. I was hoping to play it in America when i come back but it lags like shit here.. it will be nice to have America server where it doesn't lag.. Korea has so much better internet system. Korean dsl/cable is probably 10x faster than the conventional cable/dsl in America..

Well there is the trick button...but it seemed to be a waste of time. Seriously I haven't seen anyone use it too well, except maybe once or twice per game. Compare this to NBA Live, where you can use those crossover moves almost every posession and even use it frequently without losing the ball.
