Portland Trailblazers: Youth Will Prevail

An NBA Live 06 (PC) dynasty by Donatello

-First season has been simmed through
-29 game seasons
-My own sliders, 6 minute quarters

A New Beginning

The 2005-2006 season was not kind to the Portland Trailblazers. Drama, lack of leadership, and an unstable roster held the team back. Though there were some positives to the season. New coach Nate McMillan arrived and got the city of Portland very excited about their future. They were an exciting team with younsters such as Sebastian Telfair and Martell Webster pulling off flashy plays and showing great attitudes.

But a team with cancers cannot truly be a team at all. Near the end of the 05-06 season, both Darius Miles and Zach Randolph stated their desire to be traded away from the organization, very publically.

They got their wish.

Through a few off-season deals with Chicago and Charlotte- in addition to a great draft day- the Blazers have dumped these malcontents and put a team together that, while they are young, is very exciting.

New additions to the team:
Ben Gordon and Tyson Chandler from the Chicago Bulls.
Rick Tapiro (center) and Korleone Honeycutt (sg) from the draft.

Opening night roster:

THis looks like it will be good, you got a good steal with BG and Tyson, altho I dont think the Bulls would go for that if they thought about future potential, bit pissed you traded Miles too :P

Dynasty note from Donatello:

Keep in mind that I play 6 minute quarters. This means that there are 24 minutes in a game. I realized after this game that I need to turn up the CPU substitution slider a bit, with all the DNP:CDs the Bucks got.

Sorry if this isn't going to be very exciting, but I just wanted to start posting again. :) Enjoy.

A near-sellout crowd came to support the new Portland Trailblazers on opening night of the 06-07 season. There has been great buzz in the city since the Miles/Randolph trades, and the arrival of Ben Gordon. Many fans believe the road is paved to success now, with Nate McMillan and a more stable roster, even if they are quite young. But then there are the sceptics. Perhaps, based on the outcome of tonight's game, both the hopeful and the hopeless have arguments to who was right.

In the post-game press conference, Coach McMillan stressed that this is a very young team:

"We have an excellent opportunity here. Yes, we're young, but that also means we aren't jaded. We don't really have the selfishness we had with some guys last year. I think we're really going to be a team. We had some foul trouble tonight, Ben (Gordon) had 3 in the first half, and Telfair right behind him. I think that hurt us more than anything in the end.

Tyson Chandler was the surprise of the night- he had an incredible game. Ben and Martell also lit it up pretty well for us. We had a few rough spots.... Sebastian had a rough game, so did Rick Tapiro, he was pretty inefective- but it was his first NBA game, after all... I'm sure things will improve on that end.

Overall, I'd say staying out of foul trouble and working on our interior defense are the most important things for us right now."

Portland did lose the game, 88-80.

Positives:
Tyson Chandler- 16pt, 10rb, 3ast, 3blk, 2stl
Ben Gordon- 21pt, 4rb, 2ast, 3stl
Martell Webster- 16pt, 2rb, 3ast, 1stl

Negatives:
Sebastian Telfair- 2pt, 2rb, 1 ast, 1blk, 1stl
Rick Tapiro- 2pt, 3rb, 4ast

Blazers fall to Mavericks, slide to 0-2

Another loss for the Blazers, and fans are beginning to worry.

Sebastian Telfair had another awful game, staying in foul trouble the entire time and eventually fouling out early in the fourth quarter.

Ben Gordon and Tyson Chandler both continue to look like great additions to the team.

Expect Jarrett Jack to start the next game, on the road against the wizards.

POSITIVES:

Ben Gordon- 22pts, 4rb, 2ast, 3stl
Tyson Chandler- 14pts, 8rebs, 5blk

NEGATIVES:

Sebastian Telfair- 7pts, 1rb, 2ast

why would the fans worry? they'd just be like "oh well, it's all normal this year... "

Another disappointing loss for the Blazers.

Once again, Gordon and Chandler looking like the only bright spots on the team, with a bit of Travis Outlaw and Jarrett Jack.

It seems Sebastian Telfair has fallen out of favor with coach Nate McMillan, and rumors are swirling that Bassy may be on his way out.

Just one day before the Blazers' sure-to-be-tough home game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Portland Trailblazers called a press conference to announce the trade of point guard Sebastian Telfair to the Orlando Magic for guard Jameer Nelson and future considerations. The trade is finalized, pending results of physicals for both players.

"We're excited to have Jameer on the team. His style of play should suit our team nicely. I want to thank Sebastian for all his hard work, and wish him the best of luck in his new situation."

Jameer won't play versus the Spurs, but should be ready to join the team for the following game, on the road versus the Lakers.

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! How could you trade young Bassy? I wonder if we'll see a big Bassy-Howard combination in the future.

I don't normally post in the dynasty section anymore. But since no one really does a Blazer dynasty anymore I guess I should tip my hat off to you.

Nice trade for Jameer by the way. I love using him, and he's very much like Ben Gordon in regards to his scoring ability. Bassy isn't as nearly as refined as Nelson, who's already a great point guard.

I'd also like to have a shameless plug for Martell and Outlaw. Those two rock my socks.

Thanks, I plan on building the future around Martell, Outlaw, Nelson... I know it seems silly but Gordon isn't so important to me. I'd like those three to be my main guys.
