Microsoft Records Losses... LOTS Of Them.

Sat Apr 29, 2006 9:30 am

Microsoft recently divulged its Q3 earnings, which included 1.7 million Xbox 360s shipped. This brings the total count to 3.2 million consoles shipped worldwide, and suggests that Microsoft is still on track for its goal of 5–5.5 million units shipped by the end of the fiscal year. Despite these positive "sales" figures, Microsoft's Home and Entertainment segment, which includes the Xbox division, posted a $213 million quarterly operating loss, bringing its total losses to $388 million.

you probably find that they didn't make 'real' losses, they would've actually made 'accounting' losses....there are ways to increase your losses in one year in order to make subsequent year's profits better (it's called the 'bath effect')....so there could definitely be more than meets the eye

I agree. It's some stupid trendy phase insecure adolescents go through when they realize they truly are not funny people.

honestly, I don't really know exactly what happened with Enron....I don't think it was what I was referring to....I think Enron doctored with their figures a bit more & were a little too creative....

What Enron did was the opposite of what X was referring. Enron doctored their figures to make it appear they are actually gaining profit.
