The Duke curse!

I've told my friends for years that I would never draft a guy from Duke.
I believe that Duke breeds great college players but none pan out in the NBA.

I was depressed when Detroit (my home town) drafted Grant Hill. I stop using them in Live for two years. (F.Y.I. I used the Pacers)

Look at Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley, Jay Williams.

Parks and Laetener were bums. (Carlos Boozer and Battier will follow)

Elton Brand plays for the talent draining Clippers.

Look at Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley, Jay Williams.

Bad luck and coincidence. Hill had six seasons as one of the top players in the league until all the injury problems. He might still be healthy today had he not rushed back from the first surgery. What happened with Bobby Hurley and Jay Williams is very unfortunate. It's a coincidence they all happen to be former Blue Devils.

Cherokee Parks hasn't done anything special, but Christian Laettner isn't terrible. His career numbers (13.7 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 2.7 apg) are fairly decent. He's no longer playing the same role he was earlier in his career, but he's still capable of solid performances.

Battier's numbers were down from his rookie year, but he played 9 fewer minutes per game, and was in and out of the starting five. He may never be a star, but he'll be a capable role player, possibly even being the "third guy" a la James Worthy and Horace Grant. That's not to say he'll be as good or better than those guys, but I think he could fill such a role.

Elton Brand plays for the talent draining Clippers.

Brand is still putting up a double-double, and has done throughout his career. His scoring has dipped since going to the Clippers, but he's not the only option there so it's to be expected. His numbers are fairly steady.
