How the hell do snakes get that big? I saw that photo of a snake that ate an alligator whole before it's stomach spilt open.

Snakes are one reason why I do no want to move down south. I can't stand those creepy fuckers.

Reptiles can grow pretty big given the right conditions such as an abundant food source, and like in humans their genes also contribute on how big they can get.

Cool gator-snake pic.

Apologies for another bump, but Snopes has revealed more about this one too.
http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/fencesnake.asp

Seems it's actually from South Africa.

Fri Apr 28, 2006 7:44 pm

Wow nice find Andrew

Origins: The photographs displayed above evidently originated with the Silent Valley Game Ranch in South Africa, as we were informed in response to an inquiry sent there:
The snake had eaten an impala ewe and was trying to go through the electric fence when it was killed by the electric fence. The pictures were taken on Silent Valley Ranch in the Waterberg mountains of South Africa. If you go to the site you will see the images of the impala that was removed from the pythons stomach.

The Snopes article would seem to have proven that, seeing as one of the variations noted is pretty much what you quoted word for word. ;)

Haha, good one Andrew...oh, wait :P

Sun Apr 30, 2006 6:35 pm

I feel ashamed I didn't think of that one earlier. Or this one:

"Oh look, here comes Lumpy, the school snake!"

Sun Apr 30, 2006 11:34 pm

 The Carnival thing was the first thing that popped in my head when I saw this thread. I was rushing to find the picture so I could post it first because I figured you'd get it right away. I forgot about the school snake one though :D
