Mystery NBA arcade game

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I know it's possible, my concern was whether it's worth doing or amusing in any way. A lot of people, especially those who don't know about the day or wouldn't get in the spirit, would probably find it extremely stupid.

"Piratize" the avatars and sigs similar to what was done when avys and sigs were "Christmatized" last December. Place an eyepatch or skull and crossbones flag on the NLSC logo above the forum. Besides, if some people find it stupid, what's new? There are a lot of stupid people here in the NLSC so it's not something they'll be surprised at. :D

NBA Jam in the arcade had Shaq. The original version. Then he made Shaq-Fu and was EA exclusive until he joined the NBAPA with Barkley in 1997.

Speaking of Barkley, he was in the original console NBA Jam as well.

Jordan was in the Beta and was the one taken out because he retired.

I thought he was also an EA exclusive having made "Michael Jordan In Flight" and not a member of the NBAPA?

He wasn't a member of the NBAPA because he opted out to try and force companies to pay him large sums, but he wasn't an anyone exclusive until Live 2000 when EA signed him to a big deal (and he turned around and unretired and joined the NBAPA ruining their exclusive deal) after his second retirement.

Michael Jordan in Flight came in '92, well before Tecmo NBA Basketball and NBA Showdown (EA), both of which he was in. Jordan's name was attached since they didn't have the NBA license for the game. It was a mere sponsor methinks.

Ah, I'd forgotten about Tecmo and Showdown. Thanks for clearing that up. (Y)
