New Gameplay Mode Announced:

9th April 2006 Almost a week after the first information on Smackdown! vs RAW 2007 was released, we recieve the first real information on new game modes.

From THQ HQ in Baghdad, Iraq, they announced the first new game mode.

"We are proud to announce a brand new Kick John Cena's ass Mode" said THQ Chief Producer, Vladmir Putin. "We listen to our fans, and i beileve that today we have truely delivered".

Image

So what will this new game mode include? We sat down with Vladmir to find out. "Well basically the mode includes a series of missions to try and get Cena off TV, and out of wrestling. This should provide the ultimate gaming experience. Missions will include tasks, such as blow up his car, and send wrestling training videos to his house. If you complete these missions you recieve Superstar Points to spend on your Created Superstars.".

Image

This new game mode should then be a dream come true for fans. We also heard from several THQ Staff members about the game. "Well another thing about the mode is the alliance option". You can basically use your cell phone to call other guys, and gang up on him. Oh and also if you tap R2 + L2 at the same time, the fans will raid the ring and help you get Cena" said one staff member.

Image

Also announced, was the option to attack Cena backstage. While hes walking backstage, you can leap out and beat him to the point of death. You can also choose from weapons, such as whips, maces, swords. Its great.

Thats all we had given to us, we hope to update you soon.

lool that sounds retarted

My sister is a John Cena Fan

Mon Apr 10, 2006 9:02 pm

Not bad, not bad, Still, I have to give Cena credit. He's doing what he can with the booking team insisting on keeping him a face.

Mon Apr 10, 2006 9:12 pm

Cena can only perform 4 moves

It's quite funny thinking back to the days where people would criticise guys like The Rock, Stone Cold and (WCW) Goldberg for having a limited number of moves... I guess you don't know what you've got until it's gone, because most fans would probably love to have those guys back in their prime... or even as they are now (apart from Goldberg).

Mon Apr 10, 2006 9:46 pm

Yeah, those criticisms look like much bigger exaggerations these days. Then of course there's the promos they would cut.

Mon Apr 10, 2006 10:39 pm

i never saw any of those guys wrestle. saw a few rock promos on youtube though....funny stuff. anyone remember the people's strudle bit with lillian garcia?

Mon Apr 10, 2006 10:50 pm

Yeah I remember that. When Stone Cold made that brief return before Taboo Tuesday last year it only served as a reminder of how dull a lot of the promos are these days.

Mon Apr 10, 2006 11:10 pm

*thread slowly merges with wwe thread in other sports section*

yeah, promos are crap. cena is pretty much the only one now that can do a good promo, but wwe wont let him.

Mon Apr 10, 2006 11:24 pm

Hey, that's not cool. Carlito can do a good promo. Now that's cool.

Mon Apr 10, 2006 11:26 pm

oh. my. god.

a guy on another forum thought that the "kick john cena's ass mode" was for real.

EDIT: proof:

The Rock's old promo's are legendary. Probably the funniest I saw was Chris Jericho's debut (or there abouts) The Rock is in the ring talking, Jericho's countdown thing hits then he comes strutting out and carrying on. The Rock goes "... who in the blue hell are you!?" lol it was hilarious in the moment.

Mon Apr 10, 2006 11:56 pm

the jericho-rock promo was one of the greatest. the two played each other very well and jericho's facial expressions are funny as hell.

I don't mind Cena's lack of rap skills. I used to enjoy that bit of his when he was doing it before he became WWE champion. Now that he doesn't do it, I find him boring as heck.

Apple spitting is cool.
Though I still feel Carlito has the potential to devise more promo ideas. His apple bit of his, though enjoyable, is getting stale.

Jericho and Rock is the shite!
The Rock is probably the main reason why started watching wrestling again back then (I wasn't a Stone Cold fan). The Rock was a good entertainer despite the criticism for his lack of moves.
Jericho for me is like the poor man's Rock on WCW. When Jericho went to the WWE I was glad then because I now get to see both the Rock and Jericho at the same time. Y2J also has some high-flying moves which made him enjoyable to watch.

Made me recall the times watching wrestling and when the Rock's entrance music would start to play, I would just stand up and yell "Yeah!". I also bully my younger and smaller cousins by doing moves such as the Rock Bottom and Walls of Jericho on them to test if the moves do hurt, my grandma (bless her soul) who also watches wrestling all the time, would just look at us and do nothing.

There's always one. ("no rly i think its true and u can quote me wen it comes out lololololo1!11!") Like the people who believe if you score 100 points in NBA Live you'll unlock championship teams and refuse to accept that it's just not the case.

Ugh, I've been trying my hand at finishing off some challenges and getting some unlockables that are left over in SDvsRAW 2006. I must admit, I've been taking the easy route this year and completing a lot of the challenges in two player mode to get them over and done with quickly, but some are proving to be quite bothersome. Reversing the casket door in a Buried Alive match is proving to be quite impossible. (N)

Tue Apr 11, 2006 8:26 pm

yeah, ive never managed to reverse anything to do with the casket. dont try much, either, but ive never managed. i swear the cpu must press their imaginary button 400-500 times per minute.

Lol, at least you get to do it in two player mode... imagine doing it with the doorknob of an AI on the PSP... I had to abuse the options and sliders to get it done :P

Wed Apr 12, 2006 10:32 am

How about lowering the difficulty setting, will it work?

That's one thing that annoys me with the game, the required button mashing. They have to think of a better system than to mash buttons like a madman, I don't have four thumbs to spare just for that.

Wed Apr 12, 2006 11:05 am

Unfortunately not, the difficulty is set forth by the challenge. It only requires difficulty to be set to Normal but casket reversals are impossible compared to the usual counters for strikes and grapple attacks (or even the various holds you can reverse once you're in them).

BZ wrote:Lol, at least you get to do it in two player mode... imagine doing it with the doorknob of an AI on the PSP... I had to abuse the options and sliders to get it done

Ouch...I might try that though, adjusting the sliders. The other difficult one is kicking out of a possum pin, co-ordinating it in two player mode or waiting for the CPU to do it. And then of course, actually managing to escape it. I've got about three challenges left in Amateur and Rising Star before I be done with those challenges, unlock what they unlock and move on to the Superstar and Legend challenges (which look much more interesting and funnily enough, seemingly easier to beat).

I miss the days when games had "unlock everything" codes for lazy people. :P

Get an action replay disc

Wed Apr 12, 2006 7:20 pm

Yeah that's another option. Still, that's something today's games lack and sorely need to bring back: the master cheat codes to unlock everything for the lazy and/or unskilled.

Wed Apr 12, 2006 11:06 pm

yes, but that would defeat the point of locking them in the first place

Wed Apr 12, 2006 11:17 pm

Well yes, it's unquestionably cheating.

Wed Apr 12, 2006 11:32 pm

that's why they're called "cheat codes"

Thu Apr 13, 2006 9:53 am

The other difficult one is kicking out of a possum pin, co-ordinating it in two player mode or waiting for the CPU to do it

**Kick out of a Possum Pin**
Go against Eddie Guerrero, and let him build and store a finisher. Then,
while he's on the ground, stomp on him, and once in a while, he'll pull off
a possum pin.

**Interrupt a Stolen Taunt**
What I did here is choose a wrestler with a long taunt. I used Edge, but
there are others.. Triple H.. Batista.. Then, choose Ric Flair as an
opponent. I chose Flair because he has no finishers that would enable him to
pin you. In the game, let Flair toss you around until he picks up a
finisher. Try not to stay on the mat, or he'll pull off his Figure Four Leg
Lock. ..::!!( Alternatively, you could just let him pull it off on you twice
and get that Rising Star challenge called "Overcoming the Odds" done too.)
When Ric Flair has stored a finisher, keep on stalling and going out of the
ring. If you have Count Out on, get back in the ring and out again to
disrupt the count. Flair will constantly taunt, and for me, after 5 minutes,
Flair decided to steal my taunt, and I went in and made sure he paid for it
:D Also, it is important to note that the user's opponent MUST BE A CLEAN
WRESTLER.

Also, another easy way to complete the Superstar and Legend Challenges is to
use the Game Sliders to your advantage. Minimize all the CPU's reverse
rates, turn stamina off, jack up to the max the rate of momentum gained.
These would make the 2 last Challenges easier.

These are the methods I've contributed to a FAQ for Smackdown vs Raw 2006. I'm lazy, so I tend to find shortcuts as much as possible, so if you need any help with any challenge, just post it, I'll try to help. :P
