Apparently there's a teaser trailer running during
Ice Age 2 screenings, the movie will be released in July next year and this isn't an April Fool's joke.
"Simpsons" movie revealed in trailer
The article wrote:LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Homer Simpson hit the big screen on Friday in a short teaser trailer announcing "The Simpsons" movie.

The "Simpsons" teaser debuted prior to the opening of 20th Century Fox's latest animated film "Ice Age: The Meltdown." The clip announces Fox's July 27, 2007 release date for "The Simpsons" movie.
The animated 25-second clip opens on a giant superhero S. "Leaping his way onto the silver screen," intones a narrator, "the greatest hero in American history!" Cut to Homer Simpson sitting on his couch in his tighty whities. "I forgot what I was supposed to say," he says. The narrator continues, " 'The Simpsons Movie,' coming to the screen, July 27, 2007." "Uh, uh," says Homer, "we better get started."
Thoughts?

I still like The Simpsons, even if some people don't. The trailer sounds funny, which I usually a good start.

I'm still a fan too, even though I haven't liked the last couple of seasons top to bottom as much as previous years, but I'm looking forward to it as well.
Useless trivia: In the commentary for "Kamp Krusty" on the Season 4 boxset, they mention that the episode was originally considered as a plot for a Simpsons movie but Al Jean commented that they had enough trouble making it last 22 minutes for a regular episode and it was probably for the best they didn't try to spin it out for a feature length movie.
It's been suggested that "Lemon of Troy" (Season 6) would be a good concept for a movie as well, with the kids trekking into Shelbyville. I don't disagree but again it seemed to wrap up very neatly in a 22 minute episode. Guess we'll have to wait for more teasers.

This rocks man, can't wait... But is it animated?
Sun Apr 02, 2006 11:53 pm
Yes, it will be animated. But apparently there are some slight tweaks for the movie as far as the animation is concerned. But it'll still have the traditional look for the most part. It won't be Pixar-like from what I've gathered.

Cool
I love to watch the Simosons so this is a good thing

.

That would be a movie that would definitely be a box office hit even if it sucks.
Mon Apr 03, 2006 12:15 am
Cool news. I wanna see the trailer. I haven't seen Ice Age yet.
Mon Apr 03, 2006 1:15 am
I always thought they should make a movie for The Simpsons. I still watch the show and it still makes me laugh.
Mon Apr 03, 2006 2:47 am
This could be bad news for you Drew...cause a movie made of a series usually signals it's end. Anyone who knows TV...should know this.
I used to be a simpson's freak..but now i've switched to family guy...it's funnier and fresher to me now.

cause a movie made of a series usually signals it's end.

Saved By The Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas.
Man, Zach's so lucky to have married Kelly.
Anyways, let's get back to reality and snap out of the "age when my menstruation started".
I'd like to see the movie, I've never watched The Simpsons religously, but that's because of it not having a set time slot over here. From the 5-6 episodes I have seen, it seems quite funny.

wow...... not that is something.

Awww damn it. I probably drool when I see that trailer, or the guy that will laugh out loud even if the entire audience is quiet.
Mon Apr 03, 2006 8:26 am
i hope it doesnt mean the end!
Mon Apr 03, 2006 9:41 am
great

, i want to see the trailer!!!!
Mon Apr 03, 2006 10:38 am
The series is gonna end. They announced it before. I'm not sure if it's this season or the next or the one after that. I don't quite remember but it was sometime in the next few years
Well that was very precise and informative
Mon Apr 03, 2006 10:39 am
Ooooh can't wait!! As you can see by my sig, that I like the Simpsons and watch them almost every day!!

That possibility remains, but that wouldn't be such a terrible thing for The Simpsons. It's been renewed for a couple more seasons which would take it through 2008 (with the cast apparently having signed on for up to three movies in one of their recent extensions) so the end is still a little way off if indeed it's going to end after Season 19. Also, South Park is a noteable exception to the movie curse so it may be the same with The Simpsons as well.
By the way, the trailer has been posted in a Simpsons forum:

Hmm... the animation looks dodgy as hell, kind of like the early series where their mouths moved too much. For some reason Homer's voice also sounds queer... it's just a preview, but I'm already unimpressed lol.
Mon Apr 03, 2006 3:31 pm
The sound quality's not too good, that could be contributing to Homer's voice sounding weird. Animation does seem a bit unusual though.
Mon Apr 03, 2006 3:35 pm
hm... looks interesting so far.
Mon Apr 03, 2006 8:47 pm
simpsons episodes are getting a bit lame for me lately, hopefully this movie is good.
Mon Apr 03, 2006 9:16 pm
I hope it's anywhere near as good as the Family Guy movie.
Tue Apr 04, 2006 12:48 am
I didn't even know there was a Family Guy movie. Time to downlo...I mean buy it, I guess.
