Men's basketball gold medal game being sporadically shown on TV. Nine keep cutting it every 30 or 40 seconds, it's driving me insane. Australia were up by like 9 last time it was on.
Fri Mar 24, 2006 8:48 pm
Yeah it's 3 quarter time and it's only 3 points or something difference.
Fri Mar 24, 2006 9:22 pm
we won.
Fri Mar 24, 2006 9:47 pm
stupid bulldogs vs knights game was on instead of the the gold medal game I only saw the 1st quarter, fucking bullshit I wanted to watch the basketball game.

exactly, I wanted to watch NZ win the gold....instead they have some shitty league game on

That's a shame, it was actually a pretty good game. New Zealand had the lead during the 2nd and 3rd quarter and the Aussies stepped up in clutch and Pero Cameron stuffed up which gave the Aussies the lead.

Happy to see my little county Jamaica bagging in some medals in T&F(19).
Fri Mar 24, 2006 10:27 pm
We got all of the 4th quarter in Adelaide, the football isn't on until 12:30. You can all proceed to suck my balls.
Fri Mar 24, 2006 11:11 pm
they are showing the rest of the game now
Fri Mar 24, 2006 11:13 pm
we got most of the game, apart from the news at nine oclock eastern, but yeah. what about luke kendall? he was impressive. makes the three, steals the inbound and hits another almost-three...play of the game for me.
Fri Mar 24, 2006 11:17 pm
He also bricked about 50 of them in the 4th.

I thought that was a fortunate win. As usual, too many three point attempts (38! 38!) even though two of them were huge down the stretch. They caught a lucky break on that foul that gave them the two free throws to tie it at 73. Nevertheless, they didn't give up and (finally) capitalised on the opportunities presented to them. Congrats to both teams.
I guess we can now say Australia and New Zealand are officially the top Commonwealth countries when it comes to basketball.

John Amaechi was playing for England, now that's status.
I care about 3 gold medals....
I want New Zealand to beat Australia to win gold in the men's basketball Drooling
I want the New Zealand Sevens Rugby Union Team to win gold for the 3rd straight time Razz
I want to see Hamish Carter & that other guy do what they did in Athens, go 1-2 in the Men's Triathlon Razz

must've been a pretty bad Commonwealth games for you.

@ the medal tally...
Australia: 75 gold, 61 silver, 58 bronze for a total of 194
England: 28 gold, 35 silver, 29 bronze for a total of 92
Canada: 21 gold, 27 silver, 27 bronze for a total of 75
New Zealand: 4 gold, 10 silver, 13 bronze for a total of 27
New Zealand are 9th, level with Malaysia but behind Jamaica, Scotland and Kenya
I read somewhere that Queensland athletes alone would've finished higher than the Kiwi's.

It's amazing what we can do when the US isn't involved and Britain isn't united.
Seriously though, great performance by the Aussies.

NZ leads the tally in tin foil medals (4th place)....I heard it could be like 80 or so....if we converted them we'd have liked over 100 medals by now
at least we won the Rugby 7's & kept it close in bball, that's all that matters I guess....and what's swimming anyway?!?

or arse-licking?!? you can have your Jana Pittman & your medal tally, I'd prefer not to have her & have NZ's medal tally
Sat Mar 25, 2006 8:54 pm
Jana Pittman's worth what, 1 of our 75 gold medals

if she was from New Zealand maybe you'd overtake that sporting superpower Malaysia.
Sat Mar 25, 2006 9:04 pm
