Larry Brown is just another bad decision made by Isaiah Thomas. Considering the personnel they have, it's impossible to think that they would play under his style of basketball. It just amazes me that he keeps his job... I wouldn't be surprised if he intentionally made bad trades and hirings just for publicity.

Im just saying, damn how come Knicks are in worse position ever since he came? Isn't Larry the reason Fransis was brought over to NYC? That is a stupid move in my opinion.

Brown's task isn't exactly easy, but I do think he has failed in some areas. Obviously, as a successful coach one wouldn't expect him to completely revamp his coaching methods but he knew the situation going in. Some slight changes in strategy might have helped. Similarly, I still don't like his attitude as far as not caring enough to give his young players the time of day when they actually display some maturity and want to meet privately to discuss things. He doesn't have to cave but he could at least show some courtesy.

But in all fairness, he's in an unenviable situation. He might have made a few mistakes with his approach but I think he's proven throughout his career he is indeed a great coach. He has to accept some of the blame but it's not entirely his fault.

actually LB helped turn the back court of Billups and Hamilton into better players on both ends of the court.

He was an upgrade over Carlisle.

Are you under the impression that Detroit was the first champion team Brown has coached? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he the only coach in NBA history to coach an NBA and NCAA championship team? Not to mention the only coach in history to lead 7 different teams to the play-offs.

its bad enough as a knicks fan having to watch this season after having so much expectations from the off-season. its worse to read about my favorite point guard being out right trashed. what's worse than that? as i'm sitting here typing i hear all night espn radio host jason smith talk about not only how he thinks marbury is overrated, but he'd rather see gerry mcnamara run the knicks. i hope he was kidding. who's fault is this disaster? i can't say for sure, but i think who started it was the previous GM, Scott Layden, he totally fucked our cap. not saying isiah is helping the problem.

as for larry brown? yes some blame goes to him for not coaching an atleast competitive team, but its only been one season with a new team, if the same thing happens next season... then i'll withstand the criticism of brown.

marbury? everyone here has to admit, the guy does have the talent and potential to be the best point guard in the league. billups was a good player before larry brown, and after? he's right there with nash. i believe that brown can do the same for marbury.

as for attitude? well you cant say marbury isnt motivated. obviously he didnt script his return to his home town new york to go this way, but i believe if they start winning and contending for something, i dont think ppl will be so hard on "coney island's finest".
and dont forget about the well documented dysfunctional relationship between brown and iverson, if they made it work, i dont see why brown and marbury cant make it work.

all in all, this season has been depressing, the only hope we have is that brown somehow works his magic again and knicks fan will finally have something to cheer about after a loooong time, but until that day, i guess i'll just hafta endure the pain

Iverson and Brown had a go between guy in former Sixers president Pat Croce who was active in settling their disputes. Even with Croce, Iverson was almost traded to Detroit for Stackhouse, fortunately for Sixers fans it didn't happen (thanks to Matt Geiger!). When the Sixers made the Finals, Iverson saw something right in Brown's system while Brown probably loosened Iverson's leash a bit.
In NY, who does Brown and Marbury have as an arbitrator? Isiah? The only time Isiah is active is when he trades away draft picks for headcase players.

Because it's a horrible roster full of anti-LB players with no basketball sense. Blame Isiah and Dolan for that. In Detroit, Brown had a team that played hard-nosed 'D', rebounded, and were smart offensively.

Did Brown give Jerome James a $30mil contract? Did he trade a #1 pick for that waste Eddy Curry?

When it comes to larry brown, he historically has had bad starts to his tenures as coach. remember in philly? his sixers only won 20 somthing games. i dont know why people expected him to make them into a contender overnight.
