just wow. saw the movie last night and joaquin phoenix blew my fucking mind away. the praises and acclaims and he got from critics seriously does not do it justice when you see how he portrayed the guy.. the mannerisms, and the emotion was all there, it was unbelievable. reese witherspoon did a great job too, wasn't really a big fan of hers but she demonstrated her abilities to the fullest extent. after seeing this, i'm kinda pissed how joaquin did not win the oscar for best male -- although i'm speaking with bias considering how i haven't seen capote yet. but yes, walk the line is great. the music's not bad as well, and this coming from a guy that doesn't listen to country

WTF are you talking about? The Oscars and the Academy Awards is the same thing. Brokeback Mountain didn't win best picture and Heath Ledger didn't win best actor.

I hate how there's always the rush of good movies right before the Oscars, and the rest of the year is drivel
.
Just saw this movie on the weekend. It was excellent! Definitely up to par with something like Ray. I don't know who told me that "there wasn't much music, which I like" because about every other scene was a song! I love this kind of movie because I love listening to good music.. and what made it great was that Witherspoon and other guy sang all their own songs (and did a fantastic job!... although I got tired of witherspoons phony accent by the end
She's still legally blonde to me) I was a bit disappointed though that they couldn't fit in more of his life. Great move overall though.

Ray really reminded me of Walk the Line. To be honest, I didn't think too much about Walk the Line (maybe because I already saw Ray, and it reminded me of the movie) but the acting was good. I didn't think Witherspoon deserved the Oscar, but Phoenix did a nice job playing as Johnny Cash. As Cameron said, they didn't fit any more about his life in as they could've, but I felt that the movie flow was sporadic at times and anti-climatic in a lot of moments.
