The Graphic that changed the way you make Graphics

Wed Feb 15, 2006 6:53 am

Well there's usually one graphic that you spend alot of time on or try something new and it ultimately changes the way you make graphics. You went from crap to mediocre to pretty damn good in just a few pieces. So, what is the graphic that put you over the top? Post your Before graphic and then your next graphic.

Now I think there is too much contrast on it too lol.

Where is this "pretty damn good" signature making i'm supposed to have seen? I can't find it.

I don't have a lot of my really old stuff anymore (at least not the crappy stuff) so a before doesn't work too well. Here's a few (in chronilogical (sp?) order) though.

Rakim sig.

There was a few things I did here. A rough colourization of a black and white pic. I got some decent colour composition going. The font ended up working well too. And I nailed "grunge" here.

Hakim Warrick sig

The big thing here was a whole 'I don't have to use 20 different layers of downloaded brushes to make a sig look good' realization. Simple can be just as effective.

Aftermath sig.
Image
I did this as a request and it was one of the first times I used nothing but my brushes and defaults to make a sig. Now I only very occaisionally use downloaded brushes (for fractals and I use some 'scratch' brushes I have that are amazing.) The 'boxes' turned out well and I also used some photo effects that weren't the simple duplicate, blur, overlay that I waaaay overused. I don't think I've done that blur/overlay thing for quite a while now.

Ive totally lost my Photoshop graphic making skills ever since I reformated my comp which was a while ago now, but heres one of my first sigs:

Between that and this next sig, I had pretty much all junk (check my thread if ya want). This sig was wen I started focusing on quality not quantity.

I think thats a fair improvement. Too bad I didnt keep going....

I wouldnt mind starting up again...but I couldnt really be bother finding good brushes and patterns etc, so if anyone wants to send me some feel free....or some good tuts (Y)

I think my improvement in sigmaking was gradual. Not that it's that great right now but at least I try to create my own backgrounds now than just following a background tutorial and putting a pic of a player.

Wallpapers on the other hand had a big improvement when I made my JR Smith wall. My connection's too slow for me to find it so I might do it some other time.

Stop asking for brushes. Make a sig without them for a change, contrary to popular belief, IT IS POSSIBLE!

I love the Nate Robinson! (Y)

The only flaw is that the ball isn't round.

Amen! I'm getting sick of seeing so many sigs with brushes upon brushes.

My first sig was big and ugly:

I started learning more techniques and read more tutorials and eventually came out with my Still I Rise sig

I think that was a good breakthrough. Same person but still a good breakthrough

You went from crap to great.
Good on ya.

I can't even make a sig without blurr. But I'm gonna start learning soon.
