Seriously, that's what Smokey & Bello looked like at first, look how they turned out.

Edit: We decided on calling him Tookie (First name) & Taz (last name) making him Tookie Taz.

No relation to Stanley Williams.

Day 03. Feathers are progressing nicely.

That is one ugly mother fucker..

Is it just me or can you see his neck bones?

Man. I'm sorry Jackal.

Hehe, j/k. It's kinda cool seeing the bird's development, actually.

Wed Feb 15, 2006 2:23 am

Goddamn, I think it's adorable

Wed Feb 15, 2006 5:24 am

Oh my God, no disrespect, but I swear I laughed out loud when I looked at the picture.
That bird is hideous. But I think it's a very kind gesture on your part Jackal. Loving it must be a test of purity or something.

As Nick this is a joke, but man... Wow... :P

EDIT: Just for the thread's sake, I'll post a picture of my doggie. :)

I don't think a lot of you guys realise it, but that's what the bird looks like when it's that young. That ugly creature-like thing, becomes these:

That you guys knew, right?

Of course, but the thing is the love you have for that 3-day-old birdie is surprising, giving its obvious ugliness. :P

Oh alright, you guys were scaring me there for a moment.

yeah but at the moment it's that ugly creature-like thing

It's a good thing he's in a shoebox, he would've tweeted your ass off if he read that. :shake:

but the thing is the love you have for that 3-day-old birdie is surprising, giving its obvious ugliness.

It's around 3 weeks old, I just got him day before yesterday, hence I started counting the days from there on out.

Besides, the already old birds aren't tame, they're scared of humans & act like a bitch. This one will be used to humans and is the type that will be able to walk around the house. Like Bello & Smokey.

No cages for my birds. Besides, you've got to see the ugly before you can appreciate the beauty, hence you guys will witness it with me, like it or not.

Wed Feb 15, 2006 6:00 am

You don't have them in cages?
Where do they shit, and eat? Do you have like a special bird-room? That would be pretty cool! :)

Wed Feb 15, 2006 6:12 am

My sister has a bird room, that's a room in which she's put up big branches and stuff for the birds.

When I'm at home, the birds are on me, on my shoulder. They usually just poop on me, since it's so small, it's easy to wipe off with a tissue. They have a bowl of seeds & a glass of water on the table, that's where they eat.

The only time they are put in cages is when no one is at home. (Before I used to leave them out, but then one Bello went and got himself stuck between the cupboard & the wall...so that changed) and when we have guests over & finally, when they sleep. Although they sleep like an hour under the blanket...and when they're kind of drowsy, I put them in the cage.

If they aren't allowed to sleep under the blanket for atleast an hour, they get mad at you. I'm telling you, mini humans. Bello had also learned to reverse & poop. So say he's sitting on a table, he wouldn't poop on the table, he'd reverse his ass to the edge of the table & poop off the table. (Not much good for me given I still had to wipe it off the ground, but it looked nifty.)

If you put fries & seeds in front of them, they'd eat the fries. Open a tap & hear them sing (or watch them bathe.) Awesome animals. Awesome. Here are some pics of Bello since Jae seems hell bent on ruining their image. ( :x )

Very cool.

We used to have a bird similar to this when i was about 8. It may not as trained as yours.. (Knowing not to shit on the table... getting cranky if they don't get to sleep under a blanket  ) But it was still very cool... We'd let it roam the lounge room, and it'd fly onto your shoulder and such.. And if you hold out your arm it would fly from the other side of the room onto it.

Makes ya feel like a man! :x

I would never guess Jackal was a bird-lover.

I never had a pet. Actually, I picked up a dog once, and had it for like 3 days, then it disappeared and I never saw that dog again.

Wed Feb 15, 2006 1:00 pm

What was dinner that night? :P

Here's another question to you guys: do you talk to your pets? I talk to my dog's like they're people; as far as I care they understand me and I can understand what they're trying to say, if that makes sense.

Wed Feb 15, 2006 2:10 pm

I don't, although my parents do. I seriously don't think they can understand what you say, unless you make a habit out of a certain set of commands and they get it.

They also get the tone of voice, since a soft-spoken reprimand would be senseless.

Wed Feb 15, 2006 2:37 pm

My dogs are probably overly trained. You can talk to them like a person and they tend to know exactly what you're on about. It's a bit worrying.

Wed Feb 15, 2006 3:03 pm

I trash-talk to my kitten

Replace dogs with birds for me.

I had 5 dogs on Curacao, 3 American/Canadian Sheperds, a Rotweiller & just a regular ol' street dog. I miss them quite a bit, but oh well, I'm sure they are fine.

I never really trained the birds though, they pretty much trained themselves, they figured out it's warm & cozy under a blanket and such. The pooping thing he learned given I always let out a groan whenever he used to poop on me, I think he figured out it wasn't very nice.
