Well in college, you can't really stop the spam mail coming from all those organizations so you eventually hear from all those months and weird retarded days as well (like dress like a pirate day...wtf is that?). I'm guessing maybe it's to focus those celebrations of important people into certain months so people get into a habit? No idea really. May is Asian History Month for one. Women's History Month is March. I forget about the rest, but there is one for every month.
