The 'public' in pretty much every western country isn't exactly educated on the subject.

From people I've talked to the consensus is the reasons for still being there are Osama, oil, and taking down Saddam (but most feel that job is done.) That's no scientific survey by any means, but it's what I've come across.

Are you talking about the war in iraq?
If so, i dont see that a reason since Osama was the prince of Saudi Arabia not Iraq .
Most of the reasons for us being in Iraq is Bush's Personal vendetta against Sadam because of his father. I dont think we had enough reasonable doubt of them having WMD's. Another big key point for us being in the middle east is the crude oil.

Not this again...

Osama Bin Laden is not the reason why we are in the Middle East. Period. Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, etc. All of those. There are plently of reasons why we are in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the Middle East. There is no point to go back into detail about this. We have had this debate many, many times.
