The fitness decides
Yesterday the Mavericks were up against Kevin Garnett'S Timberwolves. Although Dallas had 15 rebounds against 6 of the Wolves in the first quarter they were down by three.
In the second quarter Minnesota needed 4:30 minutes to score their first points. With the buzzer Terry hit one from downtown. The Mavericks were leading with five.
Dallas was able to spread the lead in the third and everything looked like they would win the game.
But the fourth quarter brought the change. Garnett got them up by 4, then Josh Howard countered with 5 consecutive points. With 10 seconds to go, and Dallas down by three, they were in position and called a timeout. Terry passed the ball to Nowitzki who tried the 3-pointer but didn't hit it. So another loss for the Mavs due to bad concentration in the end.
Kevin Garnett was the player of the game with 26 points, 6 boards and 3 blocks. Keith van Horn had a very bad game. He didn' make one of his seven field-goal-attempts.

Strong comeback
It was once again again LA who had to challenge the Mavs, this time at the west coast.
Both teams started defending alright, while Terry was doing it too hard. He received his third foul midway through the first quarter which made him sit on the bench for almost the rest of the first half. The Lakers with a better Bryant than in their last game could take the lead by five.
In the second quarter Dallas once again had bad luck when Josh Howard injured his arm just after he tied the game with a nice lay-up. He was replaced by Stackhouse. All these incidents let the Mavericks struggle in shooting which gave LA the lead back.
In the the beginning of the third quarter the Lakers enlarged the gap up to 12 points untill Dallas finally decided to get some points themselves. Nowtzki who only had 6 points after the first half stepped up strong and hit almost every shot. So he brought the Mavs their first lead with seven minutes to go in the game.
From now on LA din't stand a chance against the unstoppable Mavericks. They won the last quarter with 31-16 and the game with 103-93.
Player of the game as usual Dirk Nowitzki with his 34 points and 6 boards. High point man of the game was Kobe Bryant. He had 36 points.

Josh Howard's injury is a sore thump. It will affect his performance but he won't miss any game.
The coach is going to decide if Howard is going to play in the starting five.

Weakened Mavs can't jump
Dallas started with a brand new starting five against the Kings. Jerry Stackhouse replaced Josh Howard because of his injury. Still Howard got some minutes from the bench.
The Mavs didn'even get started until more than two minutes were played when Terry made their first points by free-throws. In the first quarter's end van Horn tied the game with one from downtown.
But the second quarter just belonged to Sacramento. They had a 6:0 run and were leading with 9 at the half. Peja Stojakovic already had 15 points, while Dallas' best scoring man Nowitzki only scored 8 points till the break.
In the third and fourth quarter the Mavericks tried all they could to cut the deficit but the Kings held against and kept their lead till the end. GM MJJE said at the end of the game: "We just can't always replace our starting five. It's time that our injured guys get back on the track."
Player of the game was Peja Stojakovic with 38 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals.

Block-Monster Diop
Once again Dallas slept in the game's beginning and let the Sonics score from wherever they wanted. Ray Allen already had 12 after the first quarter which should sum up to excelent 42 points in the whole game.
Starting with the second quarter Seattle started to miss many of their shot caused by very bad shot-selections. So the Mavs were able to get as close as two points at he break.
In the third quarter Dallas took the lead for the first times with 3 consecutive 3-pointers. This lead they never gave back.
In the end it was exciting once again as Seattle got closer and Ridnour took a jumper from behind the line with 5 seconds to in the game. But he missed and Diop got the rebound. With this win Dallas made the fans forget the loss against the Kings and hope for a long lasting winning-streak.
The most amazing performance came from DeSagana Diop who blocked the opponent 10 times. Nevertheless Dirk Nowitzki was the player of the game with 33 points, 10 rebounds but unacceptable 8 turnovers.

- Erick Dampier is back in the team. Though he's still affected by his injury Dampier is ready to play in the next game against the Pacers.
Image
- Josh Howard has totally recovered from his injury and will be back in the starting five. Jerry Stackhouse who replaced him quite well is heading back to the bench.

Successful Revenge
Dallas started with the recovered Josh Howard as SF, while Erck Dampier had to sit on the bench in the beginning. "He ain't completely back in shape, plus DeSagana did a very good jop in replacing Erick", GM MJJE said to the reporters just before the game.
The first quarter was a hard fight with many lead-changes. In the end Dallas had the smallest gap.
In the second quarter the Mavs had to wait more than two minutes for their first points which became part of a 8-0 run. At the break Dallas was up by 5 with Nowitzki grabbing 11 rebounds till the break.
In the second half Indiana fought hard to get back to the game but the Mavericks defended good and held the lead untill the final buzzer was sounding.
Player of the game was Dirk Nowitzki with 25 points and 15 boards. Both Mavericks' point guards had a very bad night shooting 2-12 (Terry) and 2-10 (Harris) from the field. In addition you could see Dampier struggling and still not back to normal.

Painting them
Again not starting with Dampier the Dallas Mavericks quickly got the lead in the game. Especially near the basket the Warriors didn't stand a chance against the Mavs' big men. Diop made all of his 8 field goal attempts because Adonal Foyle wasn't able to stop him.
Nevertheless the game was close just when Dallas decided to turn up the speed and outscored the Warriors with 10 in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter the game suddenly seemed to get exciting again after Richardson cut the Mavericks' lead to two points. But Dallas never let them get closer than this and with some free-throws by Daniels in the end they took the victory.
Dallas not only dominated the paint in the offense but also defensifely they were better with a lot more rebounds. Showing off their skills all 5 Dallas starters had double-figures in points.
Dirk Nowitzki was the POG with 23 points an 13 boards plus amazing 5 blocks.

Overtime Thriller
On year's last day the Mavs had to face the Hornets. For the first time since his injury Erick Dampier started as Center. The coach said he was fully recovered.
New Orleans/Okl. City had trouble getting in the game. They waited more than two minutes for their first basket. But then they got hot and led by eight. Dallas answered with Stackhouse coming off the bench. He scored eight points in the first quarter and gave his team the lead back.
In the second quarter Dallas enlarged the gap to six with Dirk Nowitzki having 19 points at the half.
In the third Speedy Claxton got injured in a lay-up attempt. He wasn't able to play on. The Hornets weren't affected by that and won this quarter with one.
New Orleans/Okl. City really stepped up in the last quarter. With 30 seconds to go Macijauskas hit the 3 and Dallas was down by 2. The ball was quickly passed to Nowitzki who made the jumper. But once again the Hornets made the field goal themselves. 2.3 seconds to play and the Mavericks took a time-out. Howard passed to Dirk who jumped and hit it. The game went to its first overtime.
In the first overtime with 19 seconds to go and 127-127 Stackhouse stole the ball, gave it to Nowitzki who tried the field-goal but missed. Second overtime was up.
The Hornets went up early and were leading with 5. The Mavs got nervous and missed many shots. As they were defending well Stackhouse tied the game with one from the perimeter and 30 seconds to play. On the other end Mason missed and so it was once again in Nowitzki's hands to win the game. But again the ball didn't go in.
The third and last overtime was the most exciting. Many lead-changes brought the game to a one-point-lead for the Hornets 11.9 seconds before the final buzzer. Though he had missed two game winners before Nowitzki again got the ball but got fouled and went to the line. He made both free-throws. After their last time-out New Orleans' Chris Paul passed the ball to Mason who jumped from about 18 feet. The ball touched the rim... and went out, Howard got the board and the game was over. Dallas won the thriller with a one point difference.
The best player was Dirk Nowitzki. He had unbelievable 53 points and 19 rebounds. Jerry Stackhouse also had a great night. He scored season-high 44 points. Disappointing performances came from Daniels and Harris who didn't make one of their six field-goal-attempts.

It was the most exciting and exhausting game in my NBA Live carrier. I even got sick while playing 'cause I didn't drink enough :(
In the overtimes I almost didn't change the line-up 'cause I didn' want to risk anythink, so Nowitzki and Stackhouse (who shot better than ever :) ) got that many points.
