Yes, I know a lot about the armed forces of America. However, I highly doubt you do and you are just proving your ignorance once again. You should stay out of topics you don't know anything about, it frustrates the shit out of me.
then whats the point. If i was in the armed forces i would expect to fight. with the way bush is commanding we will probably go to war with every middle east country and many innocent people will die. War is mans worst invention.
What is the point? You learn discipline and self-confidence. You get free board and free college. It looks great on a job resume when you get out. It teaches you a lot of values and traits everyone should have. It gives you on the job training for a career you are interested in. Some good benefits and pay for being in the military. Plus, you get to serve your country and, perhaps, fight in a war.
Once again, if you don't know what you are talking about then please refrain from commenting. "Bush is commanding we will probably go to war with every middle east country and many innocent people will die" is not an intelligent comment. If you can't say anything thought provoking then get out of here...honestly.

Riot If you would go to to the army(you probly are right?)what field will you choose?
Tue Jan 24, 2006 6:40 am
If I join the Army I will be 11B Infantryman. If I join the Air Force I will be 1A7X1 Aerial Gunner. Both are combat positions.
EDIT: You can read up about 11B by clicking
here. You can read up about 1A7XI by clicking

I aint proving my ignorance. You are proving your unknowingly stupidness. Obviously, you don't kno what war is, what is it brings, and what is it lefts. It isn't parading on the streets, ins't carrying bags of sand after huricane. War means death. So, either you'll take 99.7% chances to die in desert or in deepness of some ocean/sea, it's matter of choice. On the other hand, if you are aware of all risks that war brings with it, and you want take that risk, then something is wrong. Either me or you.

Very good point, war is pretty bad. You forgot to mention that America has shipped over 150,000+ troops to Iraq and
only 2,000 or so have died. Modern warfare isn't as bloody as it use to be. It's still a bad thing, but the loss of life has greatly decreased.
Not to mention the fact that just because you join the armed forces doesn't mean you actually see combat. There are over 500,000 thousand troops in America alone that aren't deployed and we have troops all the world doing efforts like rebuilding schools and hospitals. Just because you are trained to fight doesn't mean that is all you do. Your perception of the military is way off, pal.

99.7% chance of dying. You are a fucking tool.
Tue Jan 24, 2006 8:58 am
hm. that makes me feel a lot more comfortable knowing that one day i may get a letter saying i have to join like the army rotc or whatnot and not have to fight
still i dont like having short hair and the training they have to do. its cool and all, i admire em for it. but it ends there
yo riot? u in already or u gonna be in it
Tue Jan 24, 2006 9:05 am
Short hair is the way to go.

In fact, I usually sport the military hair cut anyways. And the training is easy. It's all stuff that everyone is capable of doing if you just put some effort into it.
I am not in the military yet, Cyril. I will be joining probably right after High School (I'm a junior) or a year after. But the military is certainly part of my future.
Tue Jan 24, 2006 9:16 am
only 2,000 or so have died
Maybe I am the only one who can see the irony in that statement. 2000 people, Riot. Each of which had families, wifes, children, at least 10 people would weep for them at their funerals. Only 20000 people were affected deeply and personally by this war, in the US alone. Is it still worth it for you? Is it still worth it defensing your 'freedom' by any means necessary? Would you die for that purpose?
I have been in the Army, in case I have not mentioned it. Here in Greece, conscription still holds and I had to serve a year in the Army. 3 months as a private and 9 months as a Marine Corps Junior Sgt. While the training is worthwhile and rewarding both physically and mentally, what the training was for, especially in the Marines, was an utter load of crap.
Imagine what it must have seemed to a 18 year old, with no direction in his life up to that point, to enter a group in which he would be considered a 'family member'. Where he thought that he coudl do something that mattered. and where he would be made to feel at home. pretty soon, it wouldn't matter what he would be fighting for, but only who he would be fighting with. That is teh goal of the brass, Riot. To make you love the Army merely for being 'The Army'. It is an ideal of pride, used to guide and divert consciousness.
Think about it, and most of all, just keep an open mind, never take anything for granted.

Riot wrote:Your perception of the military is way off, pal.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think lpasso mentioned that he witnessed the destruction of war back in the 90's in his homeland, so he did experience it firsthand.
Tue Jan 24, 2006 9:51 am
D-Weaver, of course I know 2,000 lives lost is a huge number. And I respect every single one of them for giving up their lives and I feel bad for their families. I was just showing in comparison how many US Troops have been there compared to how many died. He said you have a 99.7% chance of dying, which couldn't be farthest from the truth.
Millions and millions died in World War II. Compare and decide to yourself if warfare is a lot better now than it was back then.
He might have witnessed military combat and conflict, but he has no idea what the military does when it isn't in combat. The perception of the military is all they do is kill people, which is wrong. Lpasso is just an idiot and I really don't have anything he says seriously.

Wed Jan 25, 2006 11:14 pm
Army or Navy??? If I had to choose it would be protesting at a moratorium then enjoying a stint in one of Australia's finest jails. This is all based on conscription of course, as I would never take part of a movement which promotes violence and contradicts much of the positive political thought developed in the enlightenment.
As John Lennon said 'War is Over. If you want it'. Democratic state's have a voice, individuals have a voice, those who are suffering have a voice, so why can't we end this madness.
Anyway, as said by Colin Powell 'one man's terrorist is another mans freedom fighter', consequently this shows that the wise are already confident that war is not the answer, and understanding, tolerance, deliberation, protest, communication and diplomacy are requirements in order to end the bickering created by difference and to end the regimes that promote hate.

I'd rather be thrown in jail than join either the Army or Navy. Fighting for freedom, my ass.
Btw, very nice post, Ty-Land.

I can't believe how ignorant some people are about the military. You can join the Army and be a fucking cook, teacher or pastor.
