Banks misses game winner as Pacers prevail against the Celtics

November, 2nd 2005

Boxscores
Indiana Pacers | Boston Celtics

Boston, MA (Ticker) An Al Jefferson led comeback wasn't enough as the Pacers just managed to take the one point win in their second game of the season. Jermaine O'Neal scored 19 points and 9 rebounds and Austin Croshere continued his nice form scoring 9 points and grabbing down 13 rebounds for the victorious team. Paul Pierce had a usual game with 27 points and he also grabbed 8 boards.

The 1st quarter began with both teams playing at a fast pace as Pierce scored 10 points to lead his team to a 32-29 lead at the break. The second quarter was the breaking point of the match as the Pacers defence kept the Celtics to only 10 points to finish the half ahead 54-42. Ron Artest had a nice quarter scoring 10 points.

The 3rd and 4th quarters saw the Celtics make a strong comeback but were always shunned by some nice fastbreaks from the Pacers and strong D. But, eventually the Pacers got lazy which allowed the Celtics to come down to within 3 points with 48 seconds left in the match. Al Jefferson, who was leading the charge alongside Paul Pierce combining for 21 4th quarter points, made a basket with under 35 seconds left in the match. The ball was given to Jermaine O'Neal as he went up for a lay-up but got rejected my Al Jefferson. The ball was then given to Marcus Banks and he dribbled up the field and shot the 3 with Jermaine O'Neal in his face and he missed the shot and Croshere grabbed the rebound and time ran out.

Middle Left: Paul Pierce makes the adjusted shot. Middle Right: Tinsley throws the ball over his head to set up Artest.
Bottom Left: Danny Granger hits the shot clock buzzer beater. Bottom Right: Davis penetrates and jams.

Jermaine O'Neal, "Well, we were ****** lucky we got that win there. Not putting any crap on anyone, but the 4th quarter was terrible, even I was too. That block was lucky but my height managed to put off (Marcus) Banks' shot."
Doc Rivers, "That was an exciting match. That second quarter killed us, credit to the Pacers defence."
Larry Bird, "Good to see close games rather than fights..........uh, yeah."

The Pacers have a 4 day rest before they continue their road trip. Their next stop is Washington. The Pacers are now 2-0 and the loss gives the Celtics a 1-2 record.

The lighting in your game kinda makes it look like they're playing outside in the evening. Was that that patch from Fasz?

Lol, I prefer pinstripes but I have to admit, they are nice. Yeah, Banks :shake: I was thinking WAH? give it to pierce! Banks was covered by O'Neal  But you know, Doc Rivers, he doesn't know how to play his team.

Stephen Jackson comes up with the clutch as Pacers streak continues

November, 7th 2005

Boxscores
Indiana Pacers | Washington Wizards

Washinton, DC (Ticker) Jermaine O'Neal scored 27 points and 10 rebounds and Stephen Jackson scored 19 as the Pacers win their 3rd consecutive road game against the Washington Wizards. The first half was a high scoring battle as the Pacers managed to prevail 62-61 at halftime thanks to big plays from Ron Artest, Jermaine O'Neal and Jamal Tinsley. Caron Butler, Antawn Jamison and Gilbert Arenas were all keeping their team in the game, combining for 47 first half points.

The 3rd quarter saw O'Neal lead his team to a double-digit lead but the Wizards managed to comeback strong late in the quarter to only be behind by 3 points at the break. The Wizards had the momentum and the crowd with them for the 4th quarter as they managed to make a bold comeback and end up taking a 2 point lead with 2:41 left in the game. Now it was Stephen Jackson's turn to shine. He hit two 3 pointers to give the Pacers back the lead. The ball was handed to Gilbert Arenas but he missed the 3 point shot and it came down to foul shots as the Pacers managed to prevail 108-101.
