Anyone watch late night tv shows such as David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'brien? If so, who's your favorite?
I have to go with David Letterman and Conan O'brien. Although I would love to watch Conan more often but it is too late at night

Jay Leno

I like Letterman. 60% of his jokes bomb but I still enjoy the show for the most part. He's alot better than Rove, I hate that little prick.

I only watch 2. Conan and Leno. I like Leno but Conan is better. Although Conan sometimes resort to slapstick too much while Jay, who's more experienced, manages to keep calm most of the time.

I've seen a few shows of Letterman, a couple of Leno, and a couple of Conan, and I don't think I've seen a funnier show than Conan O'Brien. He wins.

1. Leno
2. Letterman
3. Conan

I've been watching Conan O'Brien for years, and I think he's one of the funniest guys on TV. I love the show and watch it almost every night. Conan's my favourite for sure.

Conan, hands down. I'm also a fan of Leno and used to watch Letterman, but once I got Foxtel and could watch Conan and Leno regularly I pretty much stopped watching Dave. Johnny Carson should be recognised as well, he was pretty much a mentor to Leno (who of course eventually took over his show) as well as many comedians. The tribute show Leno did for Carson when he passed away was fantastic. It was quite moving how he basically did away with his usual opening monologue to pay tribute to his friend and mentor.
A lot of people (including the Foxtel promo people) still tout Leno as the "king of late night TV", but Conan's right up there with him.
"Remain perfectly still. Only
I may dance."

the one thing i love about conan (leno too) is that when a joke bombs, he makes fun of himself bombing the joke which gets the crowd erupting in laughter once again. in essence, if you think about it, the joke doesn't bomb.

Letterman's tribute show was decent too... he did jokes in his opening monologue, but afterwards he said they were all jokes Carson had written and sent into him. Apparentely he used to write alot of jokes but had no one to tell, so he'd send them to Letterman and most would be used. The interviews and whatever were boring as hell though.

Conan is one of the best in the business when it comes to recovering from a failed bit. I've heard that he'll often plan bits that intentionally bomb just so he can do the recovery material/self-depricating humour. Rove could learn a lot from him, he's awful at recovering from failed jokes and it doesn't help that his material is weak in the first place.

Kimmel and O'Brien.

I love both Conan and Letterman, the thing is that Conan is at 12:30 over here while Letterman is a little bit earlier at 11:30

Not really, Letterman had the late-night slot at NBA and Johnny always wanted him to take over for him when he was done. That's why Carson sent those jokes to Letterman at CBS rather than to Leno at the show
he was on and
he made what it is. And I thought Letterman's Carson tribute was infinitely better. Leno's came off kind of fake. Although I'm sure he had the proper sentiment and wasn't simply obliged to do it, Letterman just had more of a relationship with Johnny and his seemed more heartfelt.
That being said.
Letterman >>> Leno
Conan >> Kimmel >>>> Ferguson

That may be so, but it was Leno who took over the Tonight Show, though both Leno and Letterman were featured on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson back in the 70s and both have mentioned his support (and bookings on the Tonight Show) boosted their careers. Leno guest hosted the Tonight Show quite a bit during Carson's final years there. I didn't see Letterman's tribute so I can't compare the two but I don't think Leno's came off as being fake at all.
The thing I don't like about Letterman is that he comes off as being very egotistical. The moment his guest starts to do something funny he'll cut them off to ensure that he remains the undisputed star of the show, the one telling all the jokes...which defeats the purpose of having guests on there to tell their anecdotes as well as plug their latest projects.

Leno of course... he even referred to my home town area once... here's what it was about...
Best headline I saw was in a small paper in North Carolina
"Men arrested for lewd act on Chunky Gal"
Chunky Gal turns out to be a state park in North Carolina... not a woman of excessive girth....

Who's Rove?
And Conan's my favorite by far.
Between Jay and David, I like one more than the other on different nights.
I usually watch whichever has the better guest/s or switch between them.

Who's Rove?
A lame short Australian who has he's on TV Show called Rove Live.
Thu Jan 19, 2006 6:16 pm
Note that he's also the most rewarded TV presenter in Australian television at the moment. We have the Logie Awards (the Australian equiv. of the Emmy's) and he's won the main prize like 5 years in a row or something. His show is horribly bad and constantly unfunny.
