Golden State Warriors hire a new GM!

A new GM replaced Rod Higgins today. It was rumored that both Head Coach Mike Montgomery and owner Christopher Cohan were having problems and disagreements with Higgins, and thus he was fired. The new GM is Justin Peters, relatively unknown candidate who according to Cohan will turn this team into a winner. Montgomery is looking forward to the changes that Peters will be making and when asked upon becoming one of the playoffs finalist, he responded, "Maybe this year, but if not, next year for sure."

Today GM announced two trade offers. The rumors are true, Sacramento and Toronto both recieved trade offers and in few days Peters will recieve their responses.

The GM also told us that his Asst. Coaches already have assignments and he is aiming at making the playoffs this year.

In other news, Golden State Warriors travelled to New Jersey to play the Nets in the season opener.

After 48 minutes of action Warriors won by 11 points. The first two quarters were controlled by Warriors and they set the tempo. At half time Warriors were up by 23. However Jason Kidd and Vince Carter combined for 7-10 from the perimeter to cut it down to 2 points. Fourth quarter Baron Davis earned 4 assists and 4 rebounds as Warriors outscored the Nets and came up with a big W.

October 29: Golden State can't handle Nash's speed.

Word is that Toronto accepted trade offer and Bosh is on his way to Golden State. Either way the second game of the season was a disaster for the Warriors who were excited by the trade rumor. They didn't have an inside presence and were entirely dependant on outside shooting. The starting PF and C combined for 12-36 shooting. The team struggled from free throw line, shooting 61%. Player of the game went to Nash who scored 21 points on 50% shooting including 17 assists and 6 rebounds. He would either blow by the defenders or feed Amare Stoudamire, who had an excellent game as well grabbing 17 boards and 27 points(60%+).

Baron Davis had a poor shooting night, yet did manage 7 rebounds and assists apiece along with two steals and 12 points.

October 30: Bosh is a Warrior. Toronto accepts the trade.

As rumored this trade would be involving at least 3 players and it did. Golden State traded 3 bench forwards who Toronto lacked. In return they received Bosh.

It is still unknown who will have to leave the starting lineup for Bosh. Most likely Bosh will be the Power Forward and Golden State might pursue a better center in the future. As of the now Bosh, Biedrins and Murphy will enter a 3 man rotation in those three positions.

Bosh wasn't available for comments, but his Agent told the reporters that Bosh is excited and believes that this is the right place to pursue his first ring.

The trade with Sacramento is still in talks. It is rumored to be a 3 player trade as well.

Hey guys i was wondering...i have 8 mil CAP space...and like next season i am gonna have to sign Richardson to possibly a 8mil deal...right now he's at 800k. So i won't have that cap space next season....right now there are few 70-76 free agents. Is it worth it if i sign them? They will most likely retire next year anyway and i won't have CAP space next year....or i might even make another 3to1 player deal including few signed FAs...is that a good idea?

October 31: Big day for the Warriors.

Just around noon Golden State GM was informed that Sacramento decided to accept his trade offer for Stojakovic. In return they recieved A. Foyle and N. Tskitishvili. Stojakovic wasn't available for comments but it was rumored that he flew straight to Phoenix where Warriors are taking on the Suns for the second time in three days at 7:30pm. These back to back games are rare in an NBA season, however in this case, Warriors are literally a new team, just in time for the second game. Suns must now watch out for the rising star Chris Bosh's inside presence and Stojakovic's 3point shooting. But Golden State GM, Justin Peters isn't done yet. At a press conference he stated that he is planning on taking to his advantage the 8 million CAP space they have. There might be another big trade coming up. Peters mentioned that they needed a good center.It is obvious that this team is definitely aiming at making the finals this year.

It seems like the Suns are lost in who to start at SF. Raja Bell will have a lot of troubles guarding Stojakovic who will rain threes over him. Jim Jackson is in no state to guard Jason Richardson and Nash is no match for Baron Davis. The only advantage the Suns have is Stoudamire overpowering the Warrior center.

Results

A revenge by the Warriors for the home loss few days ago. Suns didn't recognize the warriors this time. They didn't defend Peja, who sank 35 points off shots Davis had 25 points of 10-15 shooting and had 11 assists along with 5 steals. The suns were up by one at halftime. Third quarter was a disaster for the warriors. They couldn't hit anything. Stojakovic went for 1-5 during that quarter. Suns took the lead by 11. However Warriors retaliated by scoring the first 8 points and then following a 10-2 run in about 40 seconds. Davis and Richardson grabbed 4 steals in that span of 2/3 of a minute. Warriors ended the quarter by making 10-12 free throws and allowing only 5 points. Peja was MVP of 4th hitting 4-5 including 2-2 threes and getting to the line and hitting 5/6. Davis had 7 4th quarter assists.

Side notes: Amare Stoudemire overpowered his opponent and got 28 points and 13 rebounds. Late in fourth GS coach switched Bosh over to Stoudemire and Bosh blocked him twice.

Golden State signed K. Bogans to 6 year 3.4m deal. GM prepared Bogans for a trade. No details were disclosed except that a 3rd team might be involved.

November 2: Three team trade. Nick Van Axel signed.

Today Justin Peters, General Manager of the Warriors, announced that there will be a three team trade with the Charlotte Bobcats and Orlando Magic. Bobcats were very desperate and in need of shooting guards. On the other hand Orlando needed a proper starting PF. The Warriors sent freshly signed Bogans and Mickael Pietrus to the Bobcats. Bobcats in turn sent Emeke Okafor to Orlando along with Warrior center Andris Biedrins. The Warriors received Dwight Howard who will be starting at C position. Peters said that he was also interested in Tyson Chandler but Howard was potentially what they were looking for in a Center.

The same day they offered Nick Van Axel a two year 6.25 million offer which he accepted. He will be the backup shooting guard. According to Van Axel he won't retire until his contract expires with Golden State.

When reporters asked Peters if he was planning on any more transactions he said that they were done signing Free Agents although they might still look into strengthening their bench.

Preview

Nuggets (1-3) are currently struggling to get their game together. They are trying to involve too many players and George Karl is excepted to help the team overcome the struggles around midseason. Starting SG won't be able to stop Jason Richardson. Also it will be interesting how Chris Bosh and Dwight Howard will do against Marcus Camby and Kenyon Martin along with Nene off the bench. Stojakovic will also be looking at continuing his excellent start with this team and will definitely score double digits. Nick Van Axel will definitely get minutes in this one and will be most likely the primary bench shooter along with Dunleavy and Fisher.

Stojakovic - Will most likely continue his excellent start with this club. Might get worn down by C. Anthony.
C. Anthony - Will be going around Stojakovic into the paint all game.

Golden State Wariors 110 Denver Nuggets 77

The first quarter was the toughest one in this easy win over the Denver Nuggets. After being down by four in the first quarter, Nuggets lost concentration and were outscored 88 to 59 during the rest of the game. Peja Stojakovic was on fire in second quarter and sank 4 consecutive three pointers before missing.

Newly acquired D. Howard and N. V. Axel contributed to this win. Nick Van Axel stepped in during the fourth quarter and got major minutes. During that quarter the Warriors were excited by the lead and didn't bother to run any plays, instead taking several unnecessary shots in the fourth quarter. They were outscored 17-26 in the first 7 minutes. At that point Howard and Richardson took the matter into their own hands and made sank 8 consecutive field goals helping Golden State with the 12-0 run. During the run Baron Davis grabbed 5 assists and 2 steals. Denver got very distracted in the last 4 minutes and turned the ball over 6 times out of 9 possession. Nick Van Axel took the last shot of a game sinking his first three pointer for the team and giving Davis another assist.

Player of the game goes to Stojakovic who had 30 points on 11-14 shooting, including 5/6 3 pointers in the first three quarters. In the last one he missed two jump shots and three pointers and left the game with 8 minutes to go.

Side note: D. Howard was what Golden State was more than looking for. He dominated his position and dumped 10 points on 3/3 shooting and 4/4 from the line in the fourth quarter.

Again Warriors had a 4 point lead that stretched into a 10 point lead due to great defense and great foul shooting. As time was expiring Paul Pierce missed several three pointers and instead they sent Golden State's best free throw shooter, Stojakovic to the line 10 times.

November 9

Finally Warriors make it back home and the home crowd can't wait to taste some of the freshness in them. However they were playing the unbeaten Spurs who are 5-0 compared to Warriors at 4-1.

However the home crowd wasn't dissapointed. Warriors beat them 95-104, yet again thanks to great free throw shooting in the last minute.

Player of the game award was given to B. Davis who made 13-19 shots including 7-10 three pointers. He had 10 assists and 5 steals along with his 37 points.

However, truly Chris Bosh should have gotten the POTG award. He had 30 points on 13-24 shooting and had 28 rebounds including 13 offensive. The most impressive rebound however was when he was fouled with 3 to go in fourth. He sank the first shot and missed the second. However he managed to rebound it somehow and dunk it in.

The remaining starters had a regular game. D. Howard sank 4-5 and had 9 points. Stojakovic was 4-10 from the arc and had 19 along with 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1 block.

Golden State was again in foul trouble when D. Howard and B. Davis had to sit out most of the game. Nick Van Axel started at SG and missed all three attempts. However he got 1 point from the stripe along with 5 assists and 2 steals.

Hi. Couldn't post as i didn't have internet so i'll recap everything that happened during the month of November.

Golden State news!

After the Warriors successfully beat Bobcats by 10 in Oklahoma City (112-102) their streak stood at 6. However they traveled home and lost to Trail Blazers 97-92 and followed that up by a 90-87 loss to the Mavericks. After loosing twice at home they headed over to Phoenix where they were defeated 100-107.


Warriors visited Chicago Sunday and beat them 111-93 snapping their loosing streak. The game was easy due to injuries in chicago. It seems like Warriors are learning to rebound better and not get as many fouls.

The Warriors were 1-3 at home when they hosted the Supersonics on the 22nd. They lost 105-95. There was absolutely no defense and Warriors didn't have an inside presence. Bosh and Howard combined for 39% shooting and both fouled out early in 4th.

The following day they hosted Sacramento and beat them by 21 points. 84-105 was the final score. Peja Stojakovic racked up 44 points against his old team. Just 3 days later they traveled to Sacramento for a back-to-back game with them. They attempted to revenge the loss but without success. Stojakovic had 42 points and 9 rebounds as Warriors beat them 98-92 and improved their 9-1 away record.

Warriors took back-to-back wins on the 28th and 29th, beating Spurs 112-105 in San Antonio and taking on the Grizzlies for a 111-124 win home win giving the home crowd something to cheer about. Unfortunetly Stojakovic was injured and will end up missing a month.

Warriors hosted the unbeaten Rockets on the 1st of december and were tortured throughout the whole game. 135-107 was the final score. By halftime they were down 37. In 3rd Baron Davis and the Warriors made a run and cut the lead to 19. Davis had 8 points and 6 assists during the run. However they shot only 31% from the field in 4th and lost again at home.

So far the Warriors have been a great away team. While they dissapointed home crowds of 9 out of 10 teams this season, they have also dissapointed Golden State fans. They are only 3-5 at home.

Golden State will try their luck with Lakers with whom they will play twice on the 3rd in LA and on the 4th in Golden State.
