TORONTO RAPTORS- Year 3 (2007-08)

Quick Recap
- The Raptors had a losing record of 12-17 during the 05-06 season and Babcock finally with no surprises picks 6'5 SG Marcus Johnson from Wake Forest with the 11th pick and also picks 6'1 PG Shawn Williams from Michigan St.

ImageImage

Marcus Johnson was projected to be drafted with in the top 5 picks, but feel far enough to be grabbed by the Raptors. Marcus Johnson turns out to be a beast on the offensive end. He can shoot, dribble, pass, and take it to the basket. "I'll make them wish they drafted me". In the 06-07 season, the Raptors rise from extinction and takes the Atlantic Division with a record of 17-12. The big 3 (Villanueva, Bosh, and Johnson) lead the Raptors to the East Finals and get swept by the Pistons........... and it continues...

Marquee Match Up

Duke vs. Johnson

Image

There is some bad blood between these two players. This two never liked each other since their college days. Duke was picked 10th in the 2006 draft and Johnson was picked 11th. Everyone thought Duke was by far a superior player compared to Johnson. Who will win the match-up?

Toronto vs Atlanta

FINAL

Atlanta - 93
Toronto- 89

Highlights

ImageImage Image

This game was lobsided during the first 3 quarters. The Raptors go on a huge run in the 4th Quarter. The game was 86-89 for Atlanta. Marcus Johnson hits a huge 3 pointer to tie the game.

Image

Atlanta calls a timeout. Joey Graham deflects the inbound pass but Joe Johnson recovers and heads up the floor with 0.9 secs left he launches a 3 and he hits it and gets fouled. It was pretty much over right there.

Coach Mich's Comments

Q: Can you comment on the freethrows?
"I just don't understand how you can miss 14 freethrows, it's not like they're terrible shooters. Marcus is 86% freethrow shooter and he missed 4 of them. If he made those 4 we would've won or what was it? Yeah tie the game."

Q: What factor tipped it over to the Hawks?
"They won because they wanted the win more than we did. It's as simple as that"

Q: Do you think Marcus is a legit Superstar on the Raptors?
"Marcus is a good player, but the problem is his personalty. A superstar should be able to lead on the floor and off and he is just not doing that."

Q: Do you think this team is good enough to finish it in the playoffs?
"I know this team can win because they proved it last month. They can win everynight if they give it a 100%"

Interesting perspective from starting at the 06-07 season. I like the starting lineup on your team as well, they're all young and have potential to become good players, but I think Camby should start because Villaneuva realistically isn't a legit center and neither is Bosh.

ye I wanted to start after the 05-06 season because the Raptors line up was terrible and I didnt want to make unrealistic trades so I just drafted my future superstar and a couple of complementary players. I like having Camby on the bench because I usually goto my big men early in the game to get a lead and then switch to a more defensive lineup. (Camby, Bosh, Folkes, Graham, Calderon) and then just make stops and plus I switch the line-up according to who Im playing. For Example I knew the Hawks didnt have a good Center so I put CV31. When I played Detriot I put it Camby..... and still lost. Plus dont forget that this is 2 years later, meaning CV31 has improved defensively.

This looks pretty good, nice young lineup.

Highlights

This game was a doozy. The Raptors dominated the first 3 Quarters. At the start of the 4th Quarter Lebron only had 8 points from 2/7, 1/3 from 3 point land and shooting and 1/2 from the line. In the 4th quarter LeBron brought his A-game and tied the game up at 108 a piece. This game went to Overtime. In the first Overtime, it went back and forth and was still tied at the buzzer. 2nd Overtime, Gooden and Hughes got fouled out and all the pressure was on LeBron to finish the game, but yet again it was tied. On to the 3rd Overtime. 31 secs left in the game Toronto is up by 3, Lebron gets the inbound and runs the clock down and knocks down a 3 ball and its tied. 6 Secs left........
