wow 2 months... time to shine bogut (Y)

Thu Dec 08, 2005 3:27 pm

Bogut vs: Philadelphia

6 points (3/3 shooting)
8 rebounds
6 assists
3 steals
3 blocks

And the game winning layup. Not a bad effort, he held Webber to 4-15 and at one stage apparentely C-Webb was 0-8 from the field. There's some Bucks fans at RealGM giving him MVP of the game which is kinda cool. He needs to be more involved in the offense judging by the 4 or so games I've seen this season, this one seems no different.

He's a winner. He's not having the offensive impact of a nr. 1 pick, but he's winning games for the Bucks, and that's all you can ask of that guy. He affects the game without scoring and for what I've seen, he IS a clever player. Maybe he won't ever be a superstar, but he's a solid player in the making. (Y)

bogut had a nice block on shaq today...YES I DID SAY SHAQ! and on the offensive end, he gave a nice alleyoop pass to tj ford... and once again, YES I DID SAY BOGUT TO TJ FORD for the alley-oop, not the other way around.

Thu Dec 15, 2005 1:35 pm

Holy shit, he blocked Shaq? I'm surprised he didn;t get crushed at some point.

was a clean block too, wasnt holding onto shaq or something.

what happened in that game today? I couldnt watch it but i was following the score. I noticed he had 6 points in the first quater on 3/4 shooting and a few boards. Then he didnt score again. Finished 3/5 shooting. Was it a case of them not going inside because of Shaq and Zo or did he just get left out after the 1st quater?

From what I gathered on the Bucks forum, it was a mixture of 2 quick fouls slowing him down a bit, him not being aggressive enough with the ball, Stotts giving his minutes to Ervin Johnson (????) and some dodgy refereeing decisions.

you should ask those guys at the Bucks forum to do a Sopcast of the games

they do it over at the Bulls forum

Apparentely they were organising it but the guy in charge wants people to pay him :|

in the first quarter bucks were giving the extra pass, going inside alot and getting lots of assists and scoring alot in the paint.

after the 1st quarter, they started to shoot from outside, magloire didnt touch the ball in offence for almost 2 quarters, and their inside game basically went to shit.

his 2 quick fouls benched him for a while, but their inside game went when the 2nd quarter started, not when he went off.

His stats so far:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3927

He's better than Brad Miller at the same stage in their careers... If he develops into a 15/9/5 guy he's be worth the no. 1 pick, especially in the past draft class... Only Chris Paul seems to far outshine him in development potential so far... (Y)

Bogut essentially scored off feeds from Ford (drive & dish). Once that stopped he didn't do anything.

Btw, i'm pretty sure that was Jiri Welsch assisting Ford on the alley!

  good call

This is very interesting. A guy at the Bucks board recorded every Bucks posession with Bogut in the game against Miami. It was only one game, but it's a pretty good indication of stats not really telling the whole story. People look at 8/8 and kinda think it's fairly poor for a 1st overall pick, but this really does tell the story of how he fits into the Bucks offence. He hardly sees the ball, and when he does soemthing seems to happen:

that's quite a poor comparison. brad miller was undrafted and latched on to then charlotte as a FA. he didn't start getting consistent minutes like bogut is getting until Chicago signed him
