Yeah, Iwould have liked Deron to start too, but at the same time McLeod played like he was HOF material.

Good win over the Jazz. Melo and K-Mart had a hell of a game. K-Mart..19 boards..WOW

Yeah, it was kind of easy with grab offensive boards now for some reason. I've done all I can with the sliders though.

Lenard Out of Starting Lineup

ImageImage

It was announced today by head coach George Karl that veteran jump shooter Voshon Lenard will be replaced in the starting lineup by Dermarr Johnson in the upcoming game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite winning their first win of the season against Utah, Denver had really struggled to keep the the defence honest with their perimeter and three point shooting. The Nuggets shot for a combined 1 for 21 from the three point line and 32 for 98 from the field. Lenard scored only 2 points and was 0 for 9 from the field and 0 for 7 from three, which was quite peculiar since Lenard is the Nugget's best perimeter shooter and also won the three point shooting contest a few years ago.

Dermarr Johnson, Lenard's replacement on the starting lineup, has been shooting just as worse as Lenard, hitting only 31% of his shot attempts and has not sank a three pointer in the past two games. Johnson did however, manage to play exceptional defence during crunch time to keep Utah shooting guard Gordan Giricek scoreless in the fourth while also holding him to only 5 of 21 shooting. Johnson had stated that this promotion will not be new or exciting to him."I've been a starter before last season, and I think I can keep it that way," said a relaxed Dermarr Johnson. Johnson started 40 games last season mainly due to injury problems suffered by Lenard and averaged 7.1 points per game and 35% from three. "I'm a pretty athletic guy and I've got long arms, so I think I can help get some defensive stops for us."

It will be especially important to get defensive stops since Denver's next opponent will be the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe Bryant is the Laker's best player and is one of the most talented offensive players in the league. Lenard's has always been known to be a mediocre defender and is still feeling the after-effects of an injury-plagued year last season. Bryant has had a strong first game of the season with 32 points and shot 50% from the field.

Nene Hard At Work

Denver's backup center/power foward Nene has been hard at work this season with assistant coach Leon Camby. Camby had recently been spoted with Nene working out at Denver's practice facility and working on his jump shot. This will be the final year for Nene's rookie contract, and is hoping to get a long-term deal during the off-season. The Brazilian beast has shown a lot of potential with his four years at Denver, but with the acquisitions of big men Kenyon Martin and Marcus Camby over the past few seasons, it has become difficult for Nene to log a sufficient amount of playing time.

"Nene's really dedicated and commited himself to working harder this season," spoke Leon Camby. "He's really pushing himself everyday this year and he's trying to get the coach's attention. Whether it's from the Denver Nuggets or from another team, Nene really wants the minutes to prove that he's able to be one of the best big men in the league, and I seriously think he has the potential and work ethic to achieve that."

While Nene hasn't been putting up large offensive numbers (3 points per game), Nene has really solidified himself as the Nuggets' top rebounder and a reliable defensive inside presence off the bench this season. He is currently tied with Kenyon Martin for most rebouds per game on the Nuggets with 12 per game, and also has the most defensive rebounds on the team with 8.5. Even though Denver has played only two games, Nene still isn't playing the waiting game to establish himself.

"I'm hoping to make a lot of noise this season and the best way to do that is to start working right now," said Nene. "Denver is currently the team that I cheer for and play on, but I also have to think about my long-term plans for the future. I am extremely grateful that Leon Camby has decided to put the extra time in to help me develop my game."

Denver's Eye on Blatche?

It has been rumoured now for the past few weeks that the Denver Nuggets has been trying to instigate a trade with the Washington Wizards for recently drafted highschooler Andray Blatche. Blatche had been drafted by Washington with the 49th pick of the 2005 draft, but has yet to see playing time and is currently on the Wizards' inactive list. While Blatche has the physical tools to dominate inside, many people were turned off by the fact that Blatche settles for too many outside jump shots. This might seem like a concern for most teams, but Denver is genuinely interested in Blatche's shooting, considering the fact that Denver needs a perimeter player to help cure the Nuggets' shooting woes.

Denver general manager Kiki Vandeweghe has declined to comment on these trades. "We are definitely looking to improve our team by adding more shooters, but we're looking more at players who can play the wing and shooting guard spots," Vadeweghe had said. "Blatche does seem like an interesting player that can help spread the floor out with his shooting, but we already have a lot of power fowards and centers."

Despite the fact that Vandeweghe seems to have discouraged talk about Blatche, Washington-Denver rumours still continue. Nene's contract status is still up in the air in regards to whether or not he will be playing in Denver next season, and Blatche could become useful insurance and an extra bigman to help motivate Nene to play at an even higher level. Blatche also has the potential to become a very versatile big man in the league if he continues to develop his post game. There have also been reports about acquiring Wizards' swingman Jarvis Hayes and three point marksman Chucky Atkins.

Blatche would be an interesting fit for the Nuggets, who are in need of a perimeter player.

good update on the news. Maybe you should trade Watson to them, because you already got boykins and miller there, unless you want watson as insurance. No idea who you'll trade tho..

I'd like to keep Watson, because I don't want him to immediately sign with Denver and let that go to waste... That's all I can give away though. :P

Denver Downed in Hollywood

Nuggets Boxscore
Lakers Boxscore

The fact that the Nuggets were playing a back to back game didn't seem to hit them until the final quarter. After coming off a victory to the Utah Jazz yesterday, the Denver Nuggets fell to 1-2 after a major fourth quarter collapse. The Lakers on the other hand, were hungry for a win and made a gigantic push while their best player, Kobe Bryant, was held to only 7 for 20 shooting and commited 4 turnovers, but managed to score 18 points anyway. Aaron Mckie also seemed to find the fountain of youth this game and came off the bench to deliver a 14 point, 4 assist game and dropping all three of his of his three pointer attempts. Lamar Odom and Chris Mihm both demolished Denver with a combined 14 offensive rebounds and 35 of the Lakers total 57 rebounds, which has been a constant problem throughout all of Denver's games this year.

"We just don't box out, especially in the fourth quarter," said Carmelo Anthony, who finished with 17 points and 9 rebounds. "We felt too confident with ourselves this whole game, and when they started hitting shots we just hung our heads and never fought back. We really dug ourselves a hole like we did in the Detriot game."

Denver has now fallen to 1-2 in the young season, and in all three games they've been letting the other team grab more than 15 offensive rebounds a game. The only bright spot on the team was Kenyon Martin, who was only one of two players to shoot over 40%. Martin followed last game's monster performance with another solid 21 points and 10 rebounds. Andre Miller also had a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists. Dermarr Johnson played in his first start of the season, and while he had a poor shooting night, he played terrific defence against Kobe Bryant for the majority of the game.

Los Angeles began the game with the lead, but Denver came back in full stride with an 8-0 run. Both teams came out shooting sloppily in the first quarter, with Denver shooting 6 for 20 from the field and Los Angeles shooting 9 for 26. Smush Parker began the second quarter by injuring his arm while trying to prevent Kenyon Martin from a fast break dunk. Francisco Elson and Earl Watson both made their 2005-2006 debuts, and both of them made an immediate impact in the second quarter. Elson had a monster jam that fuelled the team team with energy and Watson handed out 4 assists in the quarter, including a wicked pass to Voshon Lenard for a three pointer that gave the team a 44-42 lead. Denver had shot 57% in the second quarter and had a one point 47-46 lead heading into the halftime break. Lenard scored 8 of the team's points during the quarter.

Los Angeles easily reclaimed the lead in the third quarter, and this caused Denver to lose their composure and shoot only 36%. Denver regained their cool later in the quarter by agressively attacking the basket and going to the freethrow line 10 times in the quarter alone. Kenyon Martin led the agressive attack with 10 points and 4 rebounds but it was easily countered by Lamar Odom's 8 points and 5 rebounds. The final quarter was when Denver really struggled, as they were outscored 29-15, and were outrebounded 19-9. Kobe Bryant scored 9 points in the fourth and began to heat up after scoring a few fast break baskets. Los Angeles had easily built up a ten point lead through offensive put-backs, but Denver still remained strong. The Nuggets narrowed the lead to 86-81, but it was the closest they would get and Denver ran out of gas to keep up with the Lakers. Smush Parker later returned from his second quarter injury and nailed back to back jumpers, which was followed by more second chance points by Lamar Odom. Odom finished with 9 rebounds in the quarter, 4 of them from the offensive end.

"We needed this game pretty badly," Odom had said. "We knew they are tired after a back to back, so we eventually wore them down in the fourth quarter."

McKie nails the final freethrows for the Laker win.

Dermarr used his long arms to deny Bryant the ball for most of the game.......
.....but Kobe got it going in the fourth.
Dermarr shows that he still has the leaping ability to wow the crowd.
Lenard tried to prove that he was still starter material by scoring 8 points in only 4 minutes.
Smush gave the Lakers a scare in the second quarter when he injured his arm.
Carmelo takes advantage of Smush Parker's injuries by slamming one in his grill.
Chris Mihm Denies Andre Miller.
Miller agressively attacked the basket and shot 10 freethrows.
There were plenty of Lamar Odom put back dunks in the game.
Earl Watson made his regular season debut for the Nuggets.

Camby will break out when I learn how to use big men without posting up, because I have a keyboard and I don't have backdown. I could download the joystick thinggy that everyone has been downloading, but I'm too lazy to get that.

I don't think dbf editing will do anything at all, Camby's stats will just fall back down because I don't know hot to use him yet.

I am trying to get rid of a few players but Lenard's contract expires so I might be keeping him depending on what kind of trades I can make.

Thanks for the comment.

By the way, expect a trade to come soon, I can't hit any shots with this team......

I thought you'd be a little more happier considering you're a Lakers fan.

Thanks, Dermarr is like 6'9 so he is a pretty good defender, but his defensive awareness needs some work.

I don't like trading for big name stars, I just want a guy who can shoot. Besides, that would take away shots for 'Melo.

lovin the Dynast keep it coming

Thanks.

Unfortunately. This was a pretty frustrating game for me to play.

Unlucky against the Lakers, hope it goes better in the next game

thanks.

Anyway guys, expect my next update to be a trade. I'm not giving out any names, but I'm planning on getting a shooting guard.

Peterson and Sow Dealt to Denver for Boykins and Big Men.

ImageImageImage FOR ImageImage

After a painful loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Nuggets knew they needed a change, but no one knew it would happen so quickly. Today, general manager Kiki Vandeweghe announced that he has successfully completed a trade between the Toronto Raptors. The Nuggets have just acquired swingman Morris Peterson and big man Pape Sow while dealing away Earl Boykins, Linas Kleiza and Eduardo Najera. "We are extremely pleased with what we have acquired," spoke Vandeweghe. "Peterson is just the type of player we needed to help boost our struggling perimeter shooting, while also giving us a solid defensive effort. He has pretty big for a guard, he's versatile, and he's quick. I believe that Peterson is also one of the most underrated defenders in the league."

Denver reportedly had wanted to package Eduardo Najera into a deal along with Boykins to Washington for Jarvis Hayes and Andray Blatche, but the Wizards declined and were not willing to part with Blatche and take Najera's three year 13 million contract. Washington also had scarce interest in Boykins, since the Wizards already had a solid guard rotation of Gilbert Arenas, Antonio Daniels and Chucky Atkins. Toronto, however, are in desperate need of big men and needed an extra point guard to replace Mike James, who is currently injured with a sprained wrist. To sweeten the deal and pry Pape Sow off the Raptors' fingers, the Nuggets threw in an interesting big man prospect; Linas Kleiza. Kleiza is a tough player that doesn't mind being agressive on the inside, which is something that Toronto lacked. Although Kleiza and Najera are great hustle players that can crash the boards, Vandeweghe states that Sow's potential was well worth it, despite being under the radar for most teams.

"I think that Sow could be a the darkhorse of the trade," said Vandeweghe. "He's got long arms, he's athletic and he's willing to work hard. Sow is definitely a very raw player, but with his attitude I think that he's going to become a really good defensive player in this league." When asked about whom Sow reminded him of, Kiki Vandeweghe responded without hesitation. "Marcus Camby, for sure. They're both good defensive players and can block shots. Sow is more athletic and obviously not as polished as Camby on the offensive end, but there's no doubt in my mind that Sow definitely is reminiscent of Camby when he first came into the league. I think that with the tutelage of both Leon Camby (The head trainer) and Marcus Camby, both of them can help guide Sow into becoming a better player."

Morris Peterson has been averaging 9.8 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game off the bench while shooting 50% from the field. While the 6'7 guard is only shooting 30% from three, Peterson expects that percentage to go up. "It'll be fun," said Peterson over the phone from Toronto. "I've played for Toronto all of my life, so it'll be different, but it will be fun. Carmelo is a great player for such a young age, Kenyon Martin has been pretty good so far and Andre Miller really knows how to pass the ball. Teams would focus in on those three because they didn't have that many legitimate three point shooters on the team and I think I'll help a lot in that area."

Morris Peterson and Pape Sow should be able to pass his physical and make his Nuggets debut in Denver's next game against the defending champion San Antonio Spurs.

Morris Peterson (left) is the three point threat the Nuggets have been searching for while Pape Sow (right) is an athletic big man that has the potential to develop into a good defender.

Trading 'Melo would have been a stupid idea, he's the guy Denver is building their franchise around. I'm trying to tone down on the unrealistic trades, but at the same time I love to make trades that have a big enough impact on the team.
