What an exciting game! Kobe did everything he can as he tried to help the Lakers to get their first victory but I guess Chandler's 20-20 was too much for Lakers in the end. Hope you can bounce back after this loss.

IMO, start Smush Parker.

Brad Feet wrote:tough loss buddy....... you should really start smush.... mckie's too slow....... and besides he's doing good in real life..... you should start giving him props in your dynasty too..... anyway, good luck next game.....

- Ahh but McKie's job is set shots and defence.. you don't need to be fast, just quick! And Aaron is good for that!

Sensation wrote:Tough loss in the opener. Damn, Kobe, Odom and Brown had to carry the load. Hopefully others can step up since it's a pretty wide open roster and you won't have to rely so much on those 3 players. Better luck next game.

- For the rest of the season I expect those three to be the main players. And I think the roster is quite weak actually.. not much depth.

pHLo wrote:odom had a horrible shooting night :/
i hope he'll hit the basket better in the future

- Odom will play better, I just got to learn how to use him!

Ex-Laker Sticks Dagger through Byrant’s Heart
Lakers drop second away game thanks to Rush clutch shot

Image
ABOVE: Kareem Rush (4) hits it from downtown to win the match

6 Nov, Charlotte – For the second straight game in a week, the Lakers lost by a three point margin on the road. Kareem Rush scored the killer trey with only 1.1 ticks left on the court to finish with 16 points and win the game. Kobe Bryant caught the ball on the run and went for a potential tying shot which fell short like it did in Chicago a few nights ago. Bryant who finished with 30, 5, 7 and 3 steals knelt on the court near where he shot and lied down.

Reporters ran up to him and interviewed him on the court but only got him to say, “Why can’t we win?” before they were ushered off the court by security. Bryant later escaped through a back door after quickly getting changed. Lamar Odom spoke for Bryant, “Kobe’s just a little bit disappointed by the result. But he knows he’s got to be patient. The team is getting there.”

Odom gave a modest performance of 15 points and 14 rebounds on 6 for 10 shooting from the field before fouling out with 6:32 left in the final quarter. After Odom fouled off, the Lakers fell behind almost immediately and had to claw their way back into the game. The team trailed by 8 with 3:27 left in the match before Bryant helped the team rally back to grab a tied game with less than a minute left thanks to Bryant’s 10 points in the final 3 minutes of the game. However, Kobe’s final clutch moment was when he tied the match on a lay up with 12.3 seconds left in the game.

“I was so sure we would go to OT,” Kwame Brown said, “After Kobe hit it, I was so sure but no one could stop Rush.” Kobe had given his best effort to stop Kareem but the former teammate dribbled past Emeka Okafor and Bryant was tangled in the screen. Kareem went on to sink the basket as the crowd stood up in anticipation and stayed standing as the Bobcats bench erupted with cheers.

Okafor was unstoppable in the paint for this game as he steamrolled the Lakers on his way to 31 points on 14 for 19 shooting. Ernie Bickerstaff stated, “Emeka had a very good game tonight, the Lakers are a tough team and we were lucky to escape Kobe Bryant.” The Bobcats’ coach/gm was referring to their last second loss last season to the Lakers where Bryant won the game with a last second shot.

“Our aim tonight was to make sure we gave it our best to beat the Lakers. They came back after half time and we were a bit shocked but then we slowly took over in the last few minutes especially after they lost Lamar Odom,” last season’s Rookie of the Year Emeka Okafor exclaimed after the match, “We’re looking forward to the next game.”

This game marked the reunion of the Lakers and two former players in Jumaine Jones and Kareem Rush. Both swingman had been traded to the Bobcats for draft picks in the past two seasons and did well against their former team. Rush scored the game winner while Jones chipped in 9 points from off the pine.

Bryant finally got the support he needed from his teammates but the team choked in the final quarter with only Bryant and Mihm playing well. Chris Mihm scored all 10 of his game’s points in the final period. Kwame Brown added 17 and 11 and Aaron McKie scored 11 points.

The Lakers had a similar loss to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center in a 116-119 score line with it too going down to Kobe’s final shot. Scottie Pippen praised Bryant, “It’s good that he’s keeping his head up high, his day will come when he hits that shot.” Even though LA dominated on the boards 56-34 and led with half a quarter left, they couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity and dropped the game.

“It was a great team effort tonight,” McKie told a courtside reporter with 7 minutes to go, “It’s a shame that the game may slip away again like all of the others.” It seems that McKie may have jinxed the team at that point.

Notes

Both team’s starting PGs committed an astounding 10 turnovers each… This was the second straight game in which Odom fouled out… The Lakers have been in talks to trade for Leandro Barbosa of the Phoenix Suns… Before the game, SG Kareem Rush said that he was a bit anxious to play the Lakers to show the team what kind of player they had traded away… Record: 0-2 (0-0) (0-2) …

Who's Your Daddy? ||| The Ultimate Chance to Contribute to Your Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers and Laker Lowdown would like to present a special promotion; 'Who's Your Daddy?'

Every game, there is always one or two players who step up and the Lakers would like to know who you like and who you think is really the team's best players. In conjunction with Laker Lowdown, the offical Lakers' fan magazine are proud to introduce three fan-voted awards that will be handed out to the players.

After every game, players will be put on a shortlist for fans to vote from. The player who receives the most votes after four days of voting gets 50 points towards the final award. Second place gets 25 points and third place gets 10.

Fans who vote will be automatically entered into a draw for a chance to be featured in next year's version of EA Sport's NBA Live. If you vote, your name is automatically entered into a draw and one name will be drawn out for each game played by the Lakers and that name is forwarded to the final draw, which will be held before the Playoffs.

Good luck to all participants!

The three awards available to vote for are as follows:

- Team MVP: The Lakers' Most Valuable Player is awarded to the best player on the court. The man who is always there for everyone else's backs and is consistent night in and night out.

- The Best Team Player: This award should be awarded to whoever you think is the best leader for the team. The player who doesn't argue and doesn't let his ego in the way of his basketball.

- Fans' Award: Awarded to the player who isn't neccesarily the best player on the team but is important becuase they may have stepped up in the game or shown great leadership or hustled on both ends of the floor or made a great decision.

Terms and Conditions Apply:

1. You may only enter once for each game
2. You are only allowed to choose from the shortlisted players, any improper votes will be invalid
3. Winners of draws are announced every month in the Laker Lowdown
4. Three Fan's names will be drawn in the final draw and will be included in this dynasty next season
5. An official leaderboard of the players leading in the votes will be displayed every 4 weeks

Who's Your Daddy? ||| The Ultimate Chance to Contribute to Your Lakers

Game One - LAL @ CHI (116-119 Loss to the Bulls)

Team MVP

- Kobe Bryant: Scored 41 points in 45 mintues, added 8 assists and 2 steals
- Lamar Odom: All-around game with 22 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds in 41 minutes
- Kwame Brown: 27 points, 7 rebounds on 10-18 shooting from the field, 7-8 from the charity stripe in Lakers' debut

Team Player

- Aaron McKie: Solid 7 points and 5 assists. Stats don't tell the story as he played well by distributing the rock and looking after the ball
- Chris Mihm: 6 points and 9 rebounds. Was good in the paint as he altered many shots and held his own on the glass
- Lamar Odom: Was the playmaker/leader on every play he helped set up and made smart choices with the rock and foulled when he had to
- Kobe Bryant: Play and leadership was steady although his handling of the ball is questionable

Fans' Player

- Kobe Bryant: Electrifying play is what makes his fans happy
- Devean Geroge: Was a sparkplug off of the bench as he made some great plays
- Slava Medvedenko: Did the dirty work and hustled in the paint and up and down the court
- Chris Mihm: Put up good defense and played well in the team's failed attempt to win the game at the end

Who's Your Daddy? ||| The Ultimate Chance to Contribute to Your Lakers

Game Two - LAL @ CHA (108-111 Loss to the Bobcats)

Team MVP

- Kobe Bryant: 30 points, 5 reboudns, 7 assists and 3 steals, led his team but missed the final shot to tie the game
- Lamar Odom: 15 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists in 31 minutes but commited 6 turnovers and fouled out
- Kwame Brown: Second straight double double (17,11), gives Lakers big man presence they needed
- Chris Mihm: 10 points in the fourth quarter that helped keep the Lakers in the game. Also grabbed 14 boards in just 27 minutes of action

Team Player

- Lamar Odom: Cleaned up on the offensive glass in the third period, this was key to the Lakers' comeback. Kept the team in the game with great passing
- Luke Walton: Had a very decent all-around game in limited minutes. Was so effective, he played most of the foruth period
- Kwame Brown: Hustle was underrated as he did well on both sides of the court
- Kobe Bryant: Made some bad decisions but also made good ones as he tried to get everyone involved

Fans' Player

- Andrew Bynum: Debut with 2 points and 4 rebounds. Takes a lot of guts to be youngest ever NBA player to take to the court at 18 years of age
- Luke Walton: Returns from injury to post 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists in 26 minutes. Even more valuable for his decision making on court
- Aaron McKie: Despite turnover after turnonver, did not give up on himself and did not let Phil Jackson give up on him
- Chris Mihm: Came alive in the final quarter and helped Kobe keep the team in the game

Nice idea with that competition but there's really two sides to it.
(Y): It makes people come back to this dynasty and read your updates better.
(N): We have to come back every single time you update and for people that are in the comp, they can't just take a quick look and post a small comment..

MVP: Kwame Brown
Team Player: Lamar Odom
Fans' Player: Kwame Brown

Game Two

Damn man, you're getting killed by ex-Lakers. Who's next? Derek Fisher, Tyronn Lue, Caron Butler?
