What would be? I really don't understand why people doubt EVERY single thing they see like this. It's just a really ridiculous mindset that is basically "well I can't do it so it must be fake".

Well it is fake, everything can be done but it takes alot of practice and I mean lots of it....

There's one trick in which David Blaine gets a man to buy a lottery ticket, he takes one and then wins like 3 grand or something....its sorta similar except it isnt live but there's nothing to say it was rehearsed even though its live TV.

Have any of you guys seen that show where that magician reveals on how some of those levitation tricks etc are done, the one where he wears a black mask and that dude from the X-Files (the old guy) narrates the show. Just go on the net and search for how to do David Blaine/Criss Angel tricks and you'll find all the explanations and a step by step how to guide.

I don't think you guys understand the nature of the English media. The place is completely celebrity obsessed, I mean to a bigger extent than the USA. Derren Brown also did another stunt where he played Russian Roulette live on TV. That was all over the newspapers for weeks, they spoke to everyone from the cameramen to the person who shipped the bullets for the gun to the country and finally found out he'd been using blanks.

Look at it this way... there is no way humanly possible Brown could've "pre rehearsed" the greyhound thing without it being discovered by the media. They would've been on it like crazy because that's just how they are. As far as confidentiality clauses go, well that all flies out the window when you're being offered $100,000+ to reveal what's going on.

Well it is fake, everything can be done but it takes alot of practice and I mean lots of it....

How does that make it fake? Everyone can play basketball but it takes alot of practice, that doesn't mean basketball is fake

That was all stage magic. Anyone with half a brain could sit there and work out how all of that was done.

You're saying that you believe the magician could actually hypnotize the cashier in less than a minute and claim his money? :?:

Sun Nov 06, 2005 1:35 pm

I was speaking in general, not about that particular event but I'll answer it regardless.

I don't think he hypnotized her, but what proof does anyone have that it couldn't be done?

Mon Nov 07, 2005 1:27 am

Hypnosis requires relaxation, time and willingness, it's not something you can just be at the supermarket and BAM hypnotize someone.

Mon Nov 07, 2005 2:12 am

Who says it's hypnosis though? That's your view on it, you're not Derren Brown however so you don't know exactly what he's doing.

Mon Nov 07, 2005 9:08 am

What do you propose he's doing?

Jedi mind tricks? :?

Mon Nov 07, 2005 11:09 am

Lol yeah, because it could only be hypnosis  that's the purpose of these people, making sure we can't figure out how they're doing the things they're doing.

Mon Nov 07, 2005 11:42 am

But seriously, what could it be besides a planned thing? :?:

Mon Nov 07, 2005 12:13 pm

I really have no idea, and that's the point I was making. Alot of people, if they can't work out how something's done, just assume it must be fake. I think there's too many "unknowns" in the universe for everything to be as simple as "it's fake".
