God loves Canadians and despises Americans from the look of things.

If someone did that in here he'd be called a hero and then his ass would be shipped to Iraq.

Can you explain how they'd get shipped out to Iraq even if they aren't in the armed forces?

Because they'd get recruited for obvious reasons(bravery and guts), that happend here to a 23 year old man who saved an elderly couple from a fire and then a week later he was recruited by the army, went to Iraq and had three bullets sent through his head about 3 months later.

The recruiters know who to target and who not to, you think they would go recruit a son or daughter of a businessman or a high profile doctor?. They target your everyday hero types and the ones that cant get out of the struggle. Its almost impossible to say no to them, cause when your in a certain state of mind(feeling patriotic or ready to do anything to bail out) you will just jump into agreeing with whatever they say....its psychological voodoo and they know it and cherish it.

Bottomline is, that heroic person agreed to go to Iraq. It wasn't the recruiters fault. His life, his decision.

Excatly. The Army or Marines or whatever can't force you to sign that paper. Plus, he could have simply told them no and go away. There are thousands of people in America who we would call a "hero" that aren't in Iraq. Probably millions. Police officers and firefighters are heros but you don't see them in Iraq. Some would say doctors are heros but they aren't in Iraq. An everyday Joe (like Cy) could be a hero.

The fact that you even tried to bring Iraq into this topic is hilarious.

I've come across more near death related experiences then I'd like to remember.

Had a same experience last year. We were lining up for the Flag Ceremony then this girl suddenly became like a rockhard then her head turned faced-up and she fell backwards. I think she didn't even felt the pain. My friend (who was infront of me) helped her and all people were staring at her. They rushed her to the hospital. I didn't know what happened to her though that day. But she's fine right now.

Probably some kind of seizure.. I used to know a kid in high school that got seizures 2 or 3 times a year..

Freaky moment. Don't know how I would've reacted if I was in a similar situation.

Kudos to you doing the right thing. Like everyone else, I'd be completely shocked. The closest thing I've seen to a death experience was someone just drifting away.

Sat Nov 05, 2005 6:20 am

The closest things I've seen to a death experience is our old dog drifting away because of old age, and a cat being killed by me.
I was testing out a crossbow. I targeted a spot near the cat because I really didn't want to aim at the cat directly. Unfortunately the arrow was spot on, guess that little aim to the left compensated for air resistance. :|

Why would you aim a crossbow at your cat in the first place?

Sat Nov 05, 2005 7:05 am

It wasn't my cat. It was a stray cat in the yard.

I think he/she has epilepsy.

What did you do with it afterwards? I hear stories... :|
