Police in Canada have issued an unusual warning: anyone who has sex with Trevis L. Smith, a middle linebacker with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, should see their doctor immediately as he is HIV positive.


"Normally the RCMP would not disclose the medical health status of a person who is charged with a criminal offence. However, in this case, the RCMP would like to issue a public warning as Trevis Smith is HIV positive," said a RCMP spokesperson.


Smith was arrested in Regina on Friday after a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest was issued for a charge of aggravated sexual assault. "Anyone who may have had sexual contact with him...should immediately see their doctor... [and] contact police."
