Coach Hiring and Training Camp

It was the time of the year to go assistant coach hunting for the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. The Team owner gave GM, Igor Skrnjug, 2.10Mil to go out and hire up to 5 staff members.

Igor's first stop was to Los Angeles, California, where he found the unemployed former Clippers scout, Chuck Phills. Igor offered Chuck Phills a 1 year, $250,000 contract and of course he accepted. Chuck Phills specialises in Athletics scouting.

Then, Igor headed North to Vancouver and found a former Hockey Trainer, who had been rumoured to be retired, he was actually looking for a job and couldn't refuse the 3 year, $129,000 contract offer.

Igor had found himself a Scout and Trainer, now it was time to find some Assistant Coaches.

Alvin Elwell had been with the club since it started back at the start of the 90's. GM Igor Skrnjug decided to offer him a 3 year, $741,000 contract which the 41 year old couldn't refuse. Alvin Elwell specialises in training Big Men, just look at Magloire, Alonzo Mourning, PJ Brown, just to name a few.

Igor Skrnjug decided to travel to Atlanta, Georgia and ended up meeting up with Chris Mills and his brother Shaka Mills. Shaka Mills was an assitant Coach who specialized in defensive skills. Of Course Mills was offererd a 2 year, $587,000 contract which he accepted gracefully.

The Hornets had only $394,000 left in the budget so they decided to sign another assistant coach by the name of Anan Turner. Anan Turner is a specialist on the offensive end and he accepted the 1 year contract.

The team owner praised Igor Skrnjug's work and was glad he found a full staff.

Training Camp

Training Camp began and Both Anan Turner and Alvin Elwell spent 100% of the time teaching the time Offence and Shaka Mills spent the whole time teaching Defence.

Players that improved include:

J.R. Smith: Improved in 3 point shooting, Dribbling and Offensive Awareness
Chris Paul: Improved his Free Throw and 3 point shooting and his dribbling
Speedy Claxton: Improved his Offensive Awareness
Kirk Snyder: Improved his Free Throw shooting, Inside Scoring, Dribbling and Passing moves and his Awareness in Offence.
Chris Anderson: Improved his Stealing, Blocking, Defensive and Offensive Rebounding, Free Throw shooting, Inside Scoring, Dribbling and Passing and Offensive Awareness.
Brandon Bass: Improved his 3 point and Free Throw shooting, Inside Scoring, Dribbling and Passing skills and his awareness on the offensive end.
Bostjan Nachbar: Improved his stealing and defensive rebounding abilities.
David West: Improved on defensive rebounding, Free Throw shooting, Inside Scoring, Passing and Offensive Awareness
Jackson Vroman: Improved his Passing and Dribbling skills as well as his offensive awareness.
Maciej Lampe: Improved his Stealing and Defensive Awareness.

I'm getting my writing abilites back, yo!.. Jugs

Sorry to hear that your Jazz dynasty is gameover but lets hope your new Hornets dynasty can last longer this time. Chris Paul is an exciting player, turn him into a superstar, and train him well.

Unfortunate that you had to make another dynasty, but you better not screw up on this one :P.

If you give Rasual Butler and J.R. Smith a ton of minutes then I'll be satisfied.

Why do you have your Sim Quarter Length: 12 Minutes and your Playing Quarter Length: 9 Minutes? I think I know why but just makeing sure.

His sliders are probably meant for playing 9 minutes, but he'll probably get realistic scores if he sims it for 12 minutes. Either that or he just doesn't want to go through all the time to play 12 minute quarters.

Yeah, i just dont have the time/patience to do 12 minutes of playing... my scores get to high as well... so yeah 9 mins is the best for me (Y)

Thanks guys for visiting my thread... I'll try and trade Lynch for someone (sh, that was meant to be a secret  )

6 Man Trade with Toronto

GM Babcock and Skrnjug have agreed on a trade that would send Speedy Claxton, George Lynch and Maciej Lampe to Toronto in exchange for Joey Graham, Tierre Brown and Rafael Araujo. GM Babcock was glad to get rid of unproven sophomore Araujo. But this leaves the Hornets without a decent back-up Point Guard so Igor has offered another trade to another team and is waiting for a result.

(i'll post team on first page after the game)

The Hornets travel to Cleveland for their first game of season

The Hornets first game as the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets is against the almighty Cleveland Cavaliers.

Starting Line-Ups

Image

Key Match-Up

J.R. Smith vs. Larry Hughes.

Which one of these scoring machines will score the most?

1st Quarter

Both teams had a nice start to the game but the Hornets made a few silly turnovers which kept them from taking the game early. LeBron James singlehandedly took over the quarter as the Hornets began to play sloppy defence. The Cavs looked like they had this quarter then CP3 scored 5 points in a row to reduce the deficit to 1 point. But sloppy defence gave the Cavs a quarter time lead of 30-23.

2nd Quarter

The Cavs came out strong, putting the lead out to double-digits but Chris Paul continued to play excellent in his NBA debut as he kept his team in the game. Macijauskas came off the bench for his debut and he iced a nice 3 pointer and soon enough the Hornets were within 2 points of the Cavs. But more mistakes gave the Cavs a 9 point lead which forced Byron Scott to call a timeout. The Hornets continued to make mistakes but J.R. Smith scored a buzzer beating dunk over Gooden but that wasn't enough as the Cavs ended the half ahead 59-46.

Key Players at the Half

Chris Paul And LeBron James

3rd Quarter

Both teams started out strongly but the Cavs managed to hold onto their lead but the Hornets began to make better shot selections. The Hornets improved vastly on the defensive and offensive ends but the Cavs still held on to their lead as the Hornets still made mistakes. The Cavs ended the quarter ahead 84-67.

4th Quarter

The Hornets absolutely gave up at the end. They let the Cavs have too many easy baskets and the Hornets weren't taking care of the ball. The Hornets began to play their garbage players as Macijauskas looked like he was in the NBA for years with his nice pure shooting. The Cavs held strong as they took this game 110-90.

Player of the Game

LeBron James
LeBron James continued his form from last year with 28 points and 5 rebounds.

Boxscores

New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets
Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James was difficult to contain

Igor Skrnjug was pleased with the performances of Smith, Macijauskas and Paul and was disappointed with the veterans. The rebounding was horrible but that gives the Hornets something to work on. Igor also announced that a trade involving a PG from another team was declined.

Thanks, Jugs.
