Thanks! He sure is! I thought I was fucked when he started nailing them down in the fourth.

nbalive744 wrote:Nice Win! Next game against Detroit, you better play your best.

Thanks, it's going to be tough, they're the best rebounders in the NBA and in some games I'm still having trouble boxing out the defensive boards. I'll give my best, what happens, we'll see...

Its_asdf wrote:You played really well, and I can't wait for Griffin and Wright to make their debut though.

By the way, where's Andray Blatche? I'd like to see him get some playing time soon.

No problem, You'll see them in action pretty soon. And Andray is still recovering from the shooting, but the assistant coach has been working with him for some weeks and he will probably play at the end of this month. (After the roadtrip.)

Nice win vs. Chicago, are you planning to make a trade in this dynasty or just keep it realistic?

Pistons Hold Off Wizards

Washington falls in the deciding fourth period.

-Washington 97 - - - - - - - - Detroit 103

[ Box Score ]

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Pistons have been one of the top contenders for a few years and are definitely a one in 2005-06. The Wizards, who had a decent playoff run last year, forced Detroit to play at their top throughout the game.

The Pistons were off to a strong start, but the Wizards didn't fall far behind. Although Detroit had 7 steals just in the first quarter, Antawn Jamison (7 points, 3 rebounds) and Brendan Haywood (6 points) kept their team within 10 points. Detroit was led by Billups, who scored 11 in the first quarter.

Although the Wizards fell behind 23-34, Gilbert Arenas was able to get his team back in the game almost all by himself. Arenas scored 17 points in the second period and was supported by Jamison's 4 points and 6 rebounds as the Wizards went ahead 40-39. McDyess was the best Piston in the period with 6 points and 3 boards as Detroit lost their early lead and was trailing 49-48. Point guards Gilbert Arenas (21 points, 2 assists and a steal) and Chauncey Billups (13 points, 2 assists and 2 steals) were the most effective players by then.

The game stayed close after the halftime. Although Arenas scored another 10 points and dished out 4 assists Pistons' Ben Wallace answered with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. Besides the two Washington's Caron Butler scored 5 and Detroit's Chauncey Billups 7 points. The Pistons won the quarter and held a 76-73 lead before the final period.

The beginning of the fourth was something totally different. Detroit stepped up their game and dominated the offensive rebounds. Although none of the Pistons scored over 4 points in the period they managed to get an impressive 98-82 lead just 4-5 minutes before the end. Washington, still led mostly by Arenas did answer with a run of their own but it was too late as the fell 103-97.

Gilbert Arenas was of course the player of the game with 43 points, 9 assists and 3 steals, but his game was haunted by his 12 turnovers that were more than a half of the whole team's. The Pistons leaders were Big Ben with 27 points, 8 boards and 3 blocks, Prince with 19 points and 3 steals and Billups with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

Coach Eddie Jordan was disappointed with the team's game. “The rest of the team couldn't find its shooting-touch and that's why Gilbert stepped up. Although had had a lot of points and assists, 12 turnovers is way too much for a single player in the game. Basically what I want to say is that the score doesn't reflect the game. Detroit dominated the game. I don't care what the stats say. They did!”

GAME NOTES:
  • The Pistons grabbed 8 ofensive rebounds in the fourth.
  • Gilbert Arenas scored 17 points in the second quarter.
  • Detroit was hopless from outside, shooting just 11%.
  • Washington had 13 more TOs than Detroit. (22-9)
  • Detroit had three times more steals thna DC. (15-5)

Warriors Defeat Wizards

Washington in trouble stopping Golden State's backcourt.

-Washington 108 - - - - - -Golden State 112

[ Box Score ]

Oakland, CA – Last year the Warriors were struggling through another rough season until Baron Davis joined the team just before the trade deadline. And if that wasn't enough, Golden State acquired Ike Diogu from this year's draft. Now they are one of the most feared teams this season. Washington experienced that on the court tonight.

Although the Wizards took off 5-0 the Warriors controlled the game from early on. Rookie Ike Diogu showed what he's all about and scored 6 points and grabbed 3 rebounds in the first period. Jason Richardson pumped up the crowd with two awesome dunks as he scored 5 points in the first. Washington soon fell behind 22-11, but Warriors' Baron Davis got into foul trouble. Golden state froze on offense so Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison managed to cut the difference to 5 by the buzzer. They scored 6 each and Jamison grabbed 5 boards as Washington lost the quarter 27-22.

Highflyer Jason Richardson went all out in the second period. He pulled his team ahead 42-30 as he scored 13 of his fist-half 18 points. Thankfully Jamison put up same numbers as in the first and Gilbert Arenas helped him with 7 points as the Wizards succeeded in decreasing the deficit back to 5 points. Jamison and Richardson were the key players as the Warriors won the half 57-52.

Richardson continued his flight in the second half and scored another 10 points. Derek Fisher did a great job backing up Davis. He scored 7 points and dished out 4 assists during the third quarter. Although Butler and Arenas couldn't do much in the period the Wizards managed to keep in touch.
Jamison scored 8 and rebounded 4 as substitute Chucky Atkins ran the offense and scored 5 himself. The teams tied the third quarter on 24 and Golden State kept their slim lead.

Washington made a strong attempt to take the lead in the fourth. Jamison and Atkins kept doing their thing and that worked for the Wizards. If it hadn't been for Baron Davis the Warriors could have lost their grip on the game. B-Diddy who had been on the bench for most of the time due to his fouls game out strong. He scored 12 of his 19 points in the fourth as Golden State defeated their opponent 112-108.

Jason Richardson, who ended up with 33 points, 5 bards and 2 steals was voted the player of the game. Baron Davis supported him with 19 while playing for just 19 minutes. The Wizards' Antawn Jamison had a monster game, he scored 26 points and ended up with 19 rebounds, 8 of them being offensive. Eddie Griffin who played his first game in the Wizards' jersey had a strong performance with 8 points and 9 rebounds in 20 minutes. Another fresh Wizard, Bracey Wright scored a 3-pointer in his 2 minutes on the court.

GAME NOTES:
  • The Wizards once again failed to take care of the ball.
  • Antawn Jamison alone grabbed 19 boards out of the team's 53.
  • Jason Richardson scored 33 on 13/24 shooting.
  • Baron Davis scored 19 points just in 19 minutes.

Nice presentation as usual, Heiks, but it's unfortunate that you've lost two straight. Caron Butler is a pretty good defensive player but got demolished by Jason Richardson. Good to see Eddie Griffin perform well off the bench in his debut, he might turn out to be one of the better bench players one your lineup since you seem thin on big men and your bench doesn't seem very good at scoring points.

Wizards Defeat Champs

Arenas leads Washington past the Spurs.

-Washington 89 - - - - - - - San Antonio 88

[ Box Score ]

San Antonio, TX – The Spurs started their season 1-0 at home but they couldn't keep the clean sheet for long. The Wizards played one of their best games of the season so far as they managed to defeat the defending champions in the lion's cave.

The Wizards weren't off for a good start. Spurs' Manu Ginobili took care of business as he scored 7 to lead San Antonio to an early 13-6 lead. Washington managed to recover, in a five minutes time the game was tied at 22. Washington was led by Hayes' 5 points and 3 rebounds but he got in foul trouble and the Spurs managed to get away with the slim 30-27 lead after one.

Although Antawn Jamison got his game running in the second quarter the Spurs had something else in mind. Tony Parker ran the Spurs offense as they obtained a double-digit lead. The Wizards pulled back thanks to Jamison who had 9 first half points, all of them in the second quarter. Michael Finley crowned the half with an amazing 4-point play 16 seconds before the halftime due to a foul by Butler. Unfortunately those were his only points of the night. San Antonio won the half 57-49.

The third quarter turned out be the most decisive. Gilbert Arenas took hold of the game as he scored 10 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and stole the ball 3 times. Brendan Haywood shined with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks in the third as the Wizards' defense was rock-hard and the Spurs managed to score just 11 points, 6 of them being Robert Horry's. Arenas finished the quarter with an amazing dunk just before the buzzer to give the Wizards a 72-68 lead with one period to play.

The fourth quarter was one of the most dramatic seen this season. The teams traded baskets as Tony Parker scored 6 and Tim Duncan 8 of their final 16 points. Jamison, who scored just 2 points in the third showed some great moves and scored 6 of his final 17 points. But the last word was Arenas'. He found Chucky Atkins open at the perimeter just 39 seconds before the end. Atkins took the Wizards ahead 87-86. The Spurs went for a quick basket, Bruce Bowen took them ahead 88-87. With 29 seconds on the clock the Wizards held the ball as long as they could and Gilbert Arenas ended up with a deciding layup that took the Wizards ahead 89-88 with just 5.7 seconds on the clock. After taking their last timeout the Spurs got the ball to Parker who quickly found Ginobili in the corner. Ginobili faked Jarvis Hayes into the air, took a step towards the hoop and and jacked up the deep two but the ball didn't go in. Washington won it 89-88.

Gilbert Arenas (POTG - 26 points, 7 boards, 9 assists, 5 steals) on the game: “It was a fantastic game! A great way to bring down the champs! These big wins make the whole team a lot more confident, I really fell that we're moving to the right direction.” After being asked what brought them the victory coach Eddie Jordan answered: “Well you know what it's all about. A lot of hard work and even more luck. We worked hard 47 minutes and 55 seconds, but those last seconds we were just lucky. But I'm not saying that this is a bad way to win. Vice versa , it feels great!”

GAME NOTES:
  • The Spurs were awful from the FT line. (18/31)
  • The Wizards fouled almost twice as much as the Spurs.
  • Haywood attempted the most shots (18) for DC.
  • Hayes was the only player to foul out of the game.

Yeah, thanks! Well I really had yrouble stopping Richardson and Davis. It seemed like every time they touched the ball they scored. But I guess I was just lucky against SA, their guards missed a lot. Maybe I have just improved my defense over the time. :hump:
