Well, at least Benji has some good roster updates. Just looking at some of the pictures and reading the recaps I can tell this is a really good dynasty.

Like Cklistie or however his name is spelled, I'm glad to see your motivation for this dynasty has not dropped.

Thanks for your support, that's what keeps me going! But now I must break my earlier promise: no recaps tonight afterall. I just had too much fucking homework, but don't worry, tomorrow is another day.

Thanks for telling me that! I wanted to be sure and I checked it ingame and you were right. So I'll start another dynasty...

Too bad I just played two games and was ready to post them. Damn, the beginning is quite difficult this year.

Hang in there, I too am waiting for a good roster set before I even start messing around. Biggest dynasty killer are those damn crashes. It ruined my Madden one, hopefully it won't ruin our Live dynasties. (Y)

Wizards Keep Jazz Out Of Reach
Washington opens the season with a 24-point victory.

ImageVSImage
Washington 107 - - - - - - - -Jazz 81

[ Box Score ]

Washington, DC - The Wizards opened their 2005/06 season at home against the Utah Jazz. The Jazz who had won their season opener against the Raptors with a 30-point margin had to accept with a same kind of a defeat tonight.

Although the first few minutes were quite shy and the scores stayed close the Jazz lost its confidence early in the game as Carlos Boozer got into foul trouble. Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler were too much for the visitors' defense and they trailed 20-7 after 8 minutes of play. Andrei Kirilenko manage to cut the defeat to 11 at the end of the quarter, finishing it 24-13.

Things weren't better for the Jazz in the second. Jamison who didn't do much in the first period went wild and scored 11 points in the quarter while Arenas had 5 points as well. At some point the difference was over 20 points but Utah managed to get a bit closer by the end of the half, trailing 49-31. Arenas was the best player on the court with 13 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

The Jazz used the halftime to get themselves motivated again. It seemed to help as they opened the third period with a 12-2 run led by Deron Williams. Coach Eddie Jordan had nothing else to do than call a timeout and force to keep the Wizards awake. Butler and Arenas were the men to run his plays. They both collected 3 assists and scored a combined 19 point to grow their lead over 20. The Wizards led with 24 points before the final quarter, 75-51.

This time Utah managed to get back on track and score 30 points in the period, 10 of them from Deron Williams who dished out 3 assists as well. Unfortunately that wasn't enough. Washington, led by Arenas' 11 points and Daniels' 5 scored 30 points as well to ensure the 105-81 victory. Three Wizards had more than 20 points while Deron Williams was the only Jazz player to have decent numbers: 23 points, 5 assists and 3 steals. All players that came on court tonight scored at least 2 points. Kirilenko and Boozer were held to 7 and 10 points.

Arenas who was the Player of the game with 32 points, 10 assists and 3 steals was a bit surprised. “The Jazz had a large amount of second chances but they couldn't utilize it. They missed a lot of shots from the field. That proves that the defense-centered training camp paid off at last. That's going to be the key figure against the Pistons and the Spurs in the upcoming road-trip.”

GAME NOTES:
  • Wizards shot just over 55% in the game.
  • Jazz grabbed 18 offensive boards.
  • Arenas, Butler and Jamison combined 76 points.
  • Every man on the court scored atleast a field goal.
  • Arenas was the only man on court to get a double-double.

Butler had plenty of flashy dunks all night long. He ended up with 21 points and 5 assists.

Deron Williams shot under 30% from the field but still managed to score 23 points.

Antawn Jamison was an extreme force down low, putting up 23 points and 9 rebounds.

Rock solid performance of each of the Big 3. You also held Kirilenko and Boozer off quite well and Deron Williams only scored a lot of points because he jacked up 32 shots.

Good way to start the season, and I'm hoping Caron will be posting similar numbers all season long..... 8-)

Wizards And Timberwolves Trade Players

Washington, DC – The Washington Wizards and the Minnesota Timberwolves announced today that they have agreed to a trade. The two teams have carried out negotiations for a few days and thy finally came to an agreement sending Calvin Booth and Michael Ruffin to Minnesota for Eddie Griffin and rookie Bracey Wright.

The Timber wolves who lacked of big men to support Kevin Garnett decided to send KG's backup to DC in order to get some force down low. The Washington Wizards were packed with centers so they decided to get some reenforcement for the other positions. The teams found their common ground and worked it out between their selves.

Washington's coach Eddie Jordan was very happy with the final solution. “Our front court was already quite solid and I could have not provided all the big men the time they deserved throughout the whole season. I'm certain that Booth and Ruffin will fit to the Timberwolves' organization. On the other hand Eddie Griffin is one of the most talented young power forwards that I know. He has had his personal troubles but those do not matter on the court. It's more than a pleasure to have him here. Wright may need some time to get adjusted to the league, but he's a solid shooter and will help to fill the blank left by Peeler's ceding.”

Griffin is a solid defender in the post who can come up with both blocked shots and rebounds at both ends of the court. He has decent range for a big man and is capable of driving to the hole. But he is still somewhat raw offensively and needs to develop his moves in the post. Also, he is not overly quick, but his size and leaping ability help to make up for that.

Griffin, the seventh overall pick by New Jersey in the 2001 draft, revived his career last season by averaging 7.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 70 games.

Former Indiana University's guard Bracey Wright was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves as the 47th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft on Tuesday night. Wright became the first Hoosier player to be selected in the NBA Draft since Jared Jeffries was selected 11th overall by the Washington Wizards in 2002. Now the two have ended up in the same team.

While at Indiana, Wright amassed 1,498 points during his career, which places him 15th among Indiana's all-time leading scorers. He also ranks in a tie for third in school history with 186 career three pointers, while his six Big Ten Player of the Week honors are among the top seven in league history. Wright was also named to the NABC First Team All-District earlier this season. In 2004-05, Wright led the Big Ten with 18.3 points per game, while also averaging 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He became the first Hoosier to win the league's scoring title since A.J. Guyton captured it in 2000 (19.7 ppg). He also shot .413 (150-of-363) from the floor and .783 from the charity stripe.

Eddie Griffin and Bracey Wright will join the Wizards on November 10th against the Golden State Warriors.

Very NBA-like format on the trade. You got rid of two aging scrubs for a young athletic big man who can hit threes and also a rookie who's fairly athletic and can hit some shots from a distance.

I personally think you commited a robbery.

Thanks for the comments, guys! I really wanted to get Eddie so I sent a quite few offers to Minnesota. I was a bit suprised myself that I got him that easy. I guess the CPU's trading logic needs to be improved. Dunno for Minnesota but I'm ok with it for now.

Wizards Overrun Bulls
Washington learned from the preseason defeat.

ImageVSImage
- -Chicago 93 - - - - - - - Washington 104

[ Box Score ]

Chicago, IL - The Bulls who defeated the Wizards in this same arena a few weeks ago couldn't repeat. The main reason of that has of course been the departure of Eddie Curry and Antonio Davis while Sweetney and Thomas may need some time to get adjusted to the team's offense.

The Windy City was shocked early in the game, Washington played very aggressive defense and got ahead by seven. Newly acquired Michael Sweetney managed to do some damage down low with 5 points and 4 rebounds, but that was pretty much all. Wizards' Antonio Daniels came off the bench to score 7 points in the last minutes of the quarter as Washington won it 22-12. The Bulls were hopeless from the field, shooting just 23% in font of their home crowd.

Although the second period didn't look promising either, the Bulls fought back. Ben “4th Quarter” Gordon was at it in the second. Despite his 0 points in the first he notched up 10 to shake off the double digit defeat. Hinrich helped him out with 6 points while Caron Butler was the high scoring man for the Wizards with 8 points in the quarter. Gilbert Arenas was the Most effective Wizard by the half, he had 9 points, 5 assists and 2 steals. The best Bull was Sweetney with 9 points and 8 rebounds.

The second half wasn't as fortunate for the Bulls. They stayed close but couldn't take the lead. Hinrich was singlehandedly keeping Chicago from sinking. Despite all his efforts he couldn't stand up against the Wizards trio. They had trouble stopping them and the Wizards visited the charity stripe for 15 shots. Arenas, Butler and Jamison scored 23 points together the grow the difference back to 10 (66-56) and finish the quarter 75-62.

The Bulls started a fierce come back in the fourth led by Gordon and Sweetney. Gordon scored 8 of his 20 and Sweetney 9 of his 18 points in the last period as Chicago caught up 95-90. With two minutes on the clock it promised to be an exciting finish to the match. But it wasn't. The Wizards went on a 9-0 run and never looked back. Only Michael Sweetney managed to cut the deficit to 11 with a 3-pointer few seconds before the buzzer. Antawn Jamison scored 10 of his 25 points in the last quarter, while Gilbert Arenas was named the Player Of The game with 23 points, 11 assists and 2 steals. The highest scoring Bull was Kirk Hinrich with 25 points.

GAME NOTES:
  • The Wizards had almost three times more FTs.
  • Washington had twice as much steals as the Bulls.
  • Both of the teams shot 40% or above from the outside.
  • Bulls' bench wasn't as effetive as in the preseason game.
