NBA 2005-06 Preseason | Milwaukee Bucks

Pistons handcuff Bucks in defensive gem

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin, Oct. 19 (Ticker) -- Rasheed Wallace was 7-for-20 from the field but scored 20 points Wednesday night to lead the Detroit Pistons to an 89-70 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Wallace had 14 points in the second half to help the Pistons increase a 5-point lead to as much as 19.

Detroit coach Flip Saunders said he was "happy for Rasheed. He really controlled the tempo with his decision-making, and his shotmaking was the difference in the game. His shots gave us a cushion to pull away, and he was really solid defensively as well.''

Chauncey Billups also scored 20 points for Detroit, and Ben Wallace had 21 rebounds.

Andrew Bogut led Milwaukee with 20 points, and reserve Bobby Simmons added 17.

Play Of The Game >> Bogut was very active in defense, with 19 rebounds and this block

"We played a very, very good basketball team,'' Bucks coach Terry Stotts said. "And we didn't shoot well. I was concerned about our ability to score coming into this game; we had some looks and we couldn't convert. We also had some fastbreak opportunities and we weren't very efficient on the break. When you're not shooting the ball and you're turning the ball over with unforced turnovers, you put too much pressure on your defense to always come up with stops. We tried to defend, but your spirit gets broken after a while when you can't score.''

Billups keyed a 8-0 run in the third quarter that padded the lead to 60-41.

Tayshaun Prince triggered another 8-0 run with a dunk.

Bucks' guard TJ Ford was scoreless with 4 assists and 1 rebound in 27 minutes.

Is because some games of the preseason will be played in other cities... like Green Bay, Wisconsin (for @ Milwaukee game) and Grand Rapids, Michigan (for the other vs. Bucks game)... I used the Euro All-Stars court (with the NBA Live logo in the middle) for this games.

NBA Announces D-League Affiliation

Postby kibaxx7 on Sat Oct 08, 2005 10:53 am

NEW YORK, Oct. 20 – The National Basketball Association announced today its new affiliation and assignment system for the NBA Development League. Under this system, each of the eight current D-League teams will be affiliated with either three or four NBA teams, and the NBA teams may assign players in their first two seasons to play in the D-League.

"This is another step in the right direction to assist in the continuing development of players," said Stu Jackson, NBA Senior Vice President, Basketball Operations. "It has long been our goal to have team affiliations between the NBA and the D-League and this structure should be mutually beneficial to both leagues and the players."

"This is terrific news for basketball fans in D-League markets", said Phil Evans, NBA Development League President. "Now, in addition to seeing the best basketball players in the world not currently in the NBA, they will have the opportunity to see current NBA players as well, some of whom will be future NBA stars. We've now made a quality entertainment product even better."

This affiliation and assignment system will be reviewed by the NBA after the 2005-06 season, and if additional D-League teams are added for the 2006-07 season, affiliations will be adjusted to correspond with the total number of D-League teams.

Assignment Rules

  • An NBA team may assign any player on its Active List or Inactive List to play in the D-League, provided that the player has zero or one Years of Service at the time of Assignment.
  • No players may be given more than three Assignments during any season. There is no minimum or maximum length of a D-League assignment.
  • During the 2005-06 season, no NBA team may have more than two players on assignment at the same time.
  • A player on Assignment will be carried on the Inactive List of his NBA Team.
The D-League offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA’s umbrella. Thirty-four (34) players have been called up from the D-League to the NBA on 50 separate occasions. Eleven (11) former D-League coaches, five athletic trainers, 11 referees and 29 front office executives have also been called up since the start of the league’s inaugural season in November 2001.

Designed to help grow the sport of basketball both domestically and internationally, the league also offers fun, family entertainment at affordable prices. The D-League is a source of on-court talent for the NBA’s 30 teams and is a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions.

Shaq gets double-double in close win

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 22 (Ticker) -- Shaquille O'Neal had 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead Miami over the Detroit Pistons 89-85 Saturday.

Jason Williams, who had 11 points and 5 assists, said: "It was a really close game, but we concentrated in the fourth and we won it.''

After the first half Detroit was up in the scoreboard, with a 57-51 score, but the Heat sealed a 24-17 third quarter.

"Jason gave us a huge lift,'' Heat coach Stan Van Gundy said. "He made a couple of real nice plays.''

Rasheed Wallace led Detroit with 25 points, followed by Richard Hamilton, who had 19 points and shot 7-for-17. Ben Wallace had 13 rebounds.

Detroit is 5-1 in the preseason.

"It hurts to lose to a direct conference rival,'' Hamilton said. "Preseason doesn't mean a lot, but it helps you to heat up for the real challenge.''

After Hamilton gave the Pistons a 68-61 lead in the start of the fourth quarter, Miami outscored Detroit 28-17 to close the game.

"It feels good to be a part of this win,'' Dwyane Wade (with 21 points and 8 assists) said. "As a team we played really well.''

"If we continue to turn the ball over, it's not going to help us,'' Chauncey Billups said. "We got to make passes before we get in jams. We moved the ball. We just didn't make good decisions when it came to taking shots.'' Billups had 16 points and 7 assists.

Antoine Walker posted 23 points and 9 rebounds.

"We had it under control,'' Detroit coach Flip Saunders said. "We became undisciplined and took too many shots.''

Defensive Pistons can't slow down Mavericks

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 27 (Ticker) -- Jason Terry had 18 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 17 as Dallas wrote a 90-81 runaway over the Pistons.

Josh Howard scored 13 points, Keith Van Horn had 11 off the bench and Doug Christie 10 for the Mavericks.

"We set the tone early and got things rolling,'' Christie said. "We didn't give them an opportunity to get back in the game.''

"We did an outstanding job of taking care of the ball,'' said Terry, who also had 4 assists.

Rasheed Wallace's 19 points and Richard Hamilton's 18 paced the Pistons (5-2).

"We played really well tonight,'' Nowitzki said.

Mavericks coach Avery Johnson's emphasis on improving his team's defense has been producing results. The Pistons shot just 43 percent (32-for-74) from the field and 4-for-18 on 3-pointers.

Dallas raced to a 21-12 advantage after the first quarter behind Nowitzki's ten points.

Terry led the way with 11 points as the Mavericks built a 41-29 halftime edge.

"We don't have individual stoppers on defense so we have to do it as a team,'' Johnson said.

"We got outworked and outplayed in every facet of the game,'' Pistons coach Flip Saunders said. "They played great in the first half and we couldn't recover.''
