Wizards Fall To Bulls
DC in big trouble with defensive rebounding

[ Box Score ]

Chicago, IL – The Bulls and the Wizards gave us many exciting match ups last season. Tonight the Bulls, who were knocked out by the Wizards in last year's playoffs, hosted Washington. DC eliminated Chicago in 6 games in 2005 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. The emotional Windy City was looking for a revenge.

The beginning of the game was very tense, the atmosphere was electric. Both of the teams tried to take advantage but couldn't manage to. Washington experienced the same problems as against the Knicks few days ago: The couldn't get their defensive rebounds. As Chicago's Eddy Curry lived on second chance shots (10pts, 5reb) in the first period Washington was led by Caron Butler's 6 points. Brendan Haywood grabbed 5 of Wizards' 7 rebounds in the quarter. Washington lost it 23-20.

While Jamison, Arenas and Peeler were taking care of business in offense the team still struggled in rebounding. Chicagos big men were cleaning the boards while guard Kirk Hinrich was their main scoring option. Wizards pulled back and tied the game to 46 with an three by Anthony Peeler just 3 seconds before halftime. Bulls couldn't score on the next play and we went to the break at 46-46.

While Eddy Curry with 12 points and 8 rebounds led Chicago, Washington's Brendan Haywood had collected 5 points, 6 rebounds, an assist and a steal. The Wizards were hopeless on the glass, the lost rebounding 16-26.

The third quarter brought the 6-time NBA Champions what they had been looking for. Washington choked on offense and shot under 30% from the field. Eric Piatkowski scored 8 as Antawn Jamison led the Wizards with just 2 field goals. They lost the period 25-11 and trailed 71-57 after three quarters of play.

Washington started a furious comeback attempt early in the fourth. They kept nailing them down shot after shot but they couldn't get closer than 6 points. Jamison and Arenas had 9 points each but that wasn't enough. Chicago still dominated on the glass and got away with the 99-91 victory. Eddy Curry was the player of the game with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Haywood who managed to grab 8 offensive boards finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Jamison had 21 points and led his team in scoring.

“A disappointing loss,” said Eddie Jordan. “We didn't have a chance down low. I think the Bulls had as much offensive boards as we had defensive. Maybe I'll have to consult with the GM to get more force to the post. One thing is for sure: we are going to concentrate all of our trainings on rebounding.”

GAME NOTES:
  • DC was outrebounded 55-31.
  • Bulls had 21 offensive rebounds.
  • Wizards were held to just 11 points in the third.
  • Bulls' bench outscored Wizards' 39-19.

A disappointing loss indeed.. Maybe the game's kinda hard to get used to right? Since Sit's Lakers were so sucky... :P

Oh, and I think it's good to upload all your videos there because there's no expiration. And I don't know why I can't see your screens.. :(

Well the most difficult thing for me obviously is rebounding. It is so much harder. As Andrew said somewhere, this year it's important to box out and time the jump better. That must be it, just needs some time to get the hang of it...

I had a similar problem a long time ago with some of the patch previews on dotorg. It turned out that my Zone Alarm was set to block adds and by some reason it handeled those pics just as adds, maybe cause of the host or something.

I wonder if you have a similar problem...

Sonics Destroyed Wizards
Fourth quarter magic by Ray Allen.

-Washington 97 - - - - - - -Seattle 118

[ Box Score ]

Washington, DC
– Ray Allen and the Sonics visited the Washington Wizards for their third pre-season game this October. Both of the teams had a loss and a victory so far. We were about to see one of the best shooting games of the whole year.

Washington started the game strong: Gilbert Arenas was playing at his usual level but furthermore Caron Butler who had struggled in the last two games made a remarkable donation to the team. Both of them scored 6 points to take the host to an early13-4 lead. Remarkably the Wizards had put behind their rebounding problems: they crashed the boards 11-4. Only Ray Allen's three consecutive shots brought the Sonics closer 21-14.

The Sonics managed to start the second quarter with a run and by the middle of the period they had tied the game, mainly thanks to Rashad Lewis and Luke Ridnour who scored 7 each. Butler and Arenas continued to deliver, while Washington's main force in the last two games, Antawn Jamison couldn't score a point during the period. Both of the teams shot over 55% from the field and the Wizards took the half 45-43. Allen led his team with 12 points and 2 steals and Arenas led his with 13 points and 7 assists.

Antawn Jamison took himself together in the second half. Even though Washington fell behind 66-56 Jamison led his team with 11 points and 5 rebounds during a 11-2 run to catch up Seattle. Allen scored another 10 points and led the game in scoring with 22 points already. Sonics eventually won the quarter 29-24 and had an 72-69 lead after three.

The fourth quarter was a one man show led by Ray Allen. Even though Gilbert Arenas scored 7 and dished out 5 assists he couldn't' to enough to stop the Sonics. Seattle shot 18/24 from the field, that's 75%. Mos of those shots were taken by Ray Allen who sinked 17 points out of the teams 46 in the fourth to ensure the Sonics a dramatic118-97 victory. The main reason of Washington's difficulties was once again rebounding. They lost the last quarter rebounding 12-1. Allen finished with 39 points.

Unfortunately we couldn't get much out of Eddie Jordan after the game. He just said: “I have no words, no words at all.”

GAME NOTES:
  • Sonics shot 75% from the field in 4th quarter. (46 points)
  • Ray Allen had 39 points (15/25).
  • Arenas had a fantastic 14 assists.
  • Allen, Radmanovic, Lewis combined 77 points
  • Both of the teams shot above 53% from the field.

Two average performances behind him, Caron Butler ripped the Sonic's defence apart with amazing dunks in the first half.

And he continiued to some of that in the third aswell. - - - - - Radmanovic ended up with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Gilbert Arenas did all he could all game long... - - - - - - - - -...but Ray Allen something else planned for the evening.

Wizards Ice Heat
Washington ends the preseason 2-2.

ImageVSImage
- - Miami 89 - - - - - - - - Washington 93

[ Box Score ]

Miami, FL – After a devastating loss to the Seattle Supersonics the Wizards stepped against one of the strongest team of the upcoming season. The Miami Heat was involved in one of the biggest trades ever in the NBA, replacing 13 players. The was unbeaten in the preseason games until now.

Miami made a very strong start, taking off 9-3. Young superstar Dwyane Wade had a big part in that run, scoring 6 points. The Wizards struggled and only Gilbert Arenas seemed to go all the way to the rim. Jason Williams and Shaquille O'Neal of the Heat put up a strong performance and put Miami ahead 26-16. Although the game seemed almost hopeless, the Washington Wizards, mainly thanks to Caron Butler's 2 steals and 8 points finished the quarter with an amazing 10-2 run and lost it just by two, 28-26.

The Heat didn't let that little comeback shock them and took up another 8-point lead in a few minutes. James Posey was their biggest weapon throughout the quarter. Once again the Wizards weren't ready to give up. Jamison who had been quiet in the first scored 10 points and Arenas making the offense work, he had 6 points and 2 assist in the second quarter, furthermore he grabbed 4 defensive rebounds. The Wizards won the period 22-21 and were trailing just by one at the half, 49-48. Arenas led his team with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Shaq had 8 points and 4 blocks.

Nothing changed after the half, Miami pulled away for the third time, but Washington came back from the 10-point deficit after a few minutes. Posey led the Heat with 6 points while Antonio Daniels and Caron Butler had 6 each as well. Butler also added 2 assists. Miami won the third quarter 23-22 and led 72-70.

The last period was very tense, neither team could go ahead with a large margin. Although J-Dub scored 7 points the Wizards' defense was hards as a rock. They held the Heat to 17 points and thanks to Jamison's and Butler's efforts score 22 themselves. The Wizards won their last game before the beginning of the season 93-89. Jamison had 21 points and Butler had 20 while Arenas was selected the Player Of The Game with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Jason Williams led the Heat with 18 points and 6 assists.

“It was a great game!” said Arenas. “Although I couldn't do much in the second half we managed to survive the third breakaway by the Heat and came out on top. That was our best game so far. We kept attacking the rim and all they could do was foul us. That worked.”

The Wizards will face the Los Angeles Lakers in the season opener on October 28th.

GAME NOTES:
  • The Wizards came back from three double-digit deficits.
  • The Wizards had 36 freetrows, they missed only two.
  • Despite the victory Washington had 27 turnovers.
  • Miami shot above 60% from the field in the first period.
  • DC still struggled from outside and shot once again under 30%.

Great start, the Wizards are a good team. I watched them on NBA TV yesterday as they were having there training camp at my old school (VCU). There one of the three teams I may start a chise with...Excellent presentation! Simple and to the point. Keep it up. Great idea going with the 29 games, and the 3 game playoff route. Might have to do the same. (Y)

I'll be following for sure.

Thanks gyus! I actually played the first game of the season, but the game crashed later in the menu before I could save it. I don't know if it has something to do with the DBF editing I did or it's just a coincidence. I'll look into it tomorrow and see if I'll post the game or start another season.

Ok, I had to start a new season, due to my fuck up, so the staff changed and so did some players, cause I got the latest rosters from Benji. The first game of the season will be against the Mavs and you'll probably see the recap tonight. That's within 5-7 hours.
