Raptors add Harrington to the team

Image

The Toronto Raptors have signed free agent point guard Lorinza Harrington. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not announced.

Lorinza, who also goes by Junior Harrington, has played in two season in the NBA. In 2002 he joined the Denver Nuggets and participated in all 82 games in the 2002-03 season; he averaged 5.1 PPG, 3.4 APG, and 3.00 RPG in 24.4 minutes per game. Harrington also had a brief stint with the New Orleans Hornets in the 2004-05 campaign where he took part in 29 games and averaged 5.6 PPG in 19 minutes of action per contest.

Lorinza Harrington will join the other Raptors point guards that include Rafer Alson, the young Jose Calderon, and the injured Alvin Williams.

Harrington is expected to join the team and be ready to play for the preseason opener in Charlotte.

first things first...welcome to the forums. Great choice picking the Raptors as I'm picked the same team. :D Good signing of Junior Harrington, although not exactly the challenge that would push Rafer Alston. Btw, are u playing on computer or on other consoles?

Another Raptors fan eh? Good luck on this one. I'll tune into any dynasty as long as it's good and as the Raptors in it. The Raptors have been searching for that third point guard, and Harrington looks like a good signing.

Thanks! I dropped by this site to see if I could download any additions to the new Live 06 and saw this section of the forum. Its been nice reading all the Dynasty stories but some of them are just amazing in detail. I don't think I'll ever come close to what some of the people have out there.

I picked up Junior not to challenge for Rafer's spot but to simply provide a backup for Rafer if the rook Jose Calderon doesn't play up to par.

And to answer your last question, I am using PC for NBA Live 06.

They're the future of the team. You forgot Jose Manuel Calderon and Rafael Araujo.

Bobcats outrun the Raptors

Image

The young Bobcat duo of Emeka Okafor, Raymond Felton, and Sean May combined for 58 points to lead the Charlotte Bobcats over the Toronto Raptors in a 71-87 victory. The young UNC point guard, Raymond Felton, showed his value by dropping down 37 points and dishing out 5 assists. Emeka Okafor chipped in with a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds while the other UNC rookie, Sean May, put in 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The game was close throughout but the Bobcats made a run in the third quarter and outscored the Raptors 26-11 to grab a double digit lead.

Toronto came back in the fourth and cut the lead back to 10 but the persistent Charlotte offense continued to chip away at the Raptors and managed to grab their first preseason win.

Rafer Alston was the leading scorer for the Raptors with 13 points and 5 assists, however, the real star was Charlie Villanueva who drained 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Other players in double-digits include Jalen Rose with 11 points and Chris Bosh with 10.

The Raptors will now go back to Toronto and play the Washington Wizards at the Air Canada Centre.

Joey is rated as a 70 and Charlie as 69.

And as for the loss, I don't mind it. Its just a friendly preseason game to prepare for the Dynasty itself. I played a lot of people - all 12 players actually. I plan to play more of the young guys in the next game a lot more and give some of the vets time off.

I don't know about the other people but I am doing my preseason to get used to the game and some of the new young players on the Raps before beginning the Dynasty.

Raps drop 0-2 in preseason action

Image

The Toronto Raptors lost their second preseason game against the Washington Wizards, 75-91.

Head coach Sam Mitchell opted to rest veterans Jalen Rose and Morris Peterson, and start rookies Charlie Villanueva and Joey Graham as well as youngsters Araujo and Bosh. Because of the youth movement compared to the Wizards' veteran lineup, the Raptors were never able to really get close as they trailed the game throughout.

Chris Bosh let all Raptors scorers with 18 and racked down 9 rebounds. Rafer Alson finished with 17 points and Araujo and Villanueva chipped in with 6 each. Jose Caledron impressed with 13 points off the bench.

Washington's Gilbert Arenas finished with 30 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds in the impressive win.

The Raptors will now prepare to host the Los Angeles Lakers at the Air Canada Centre in two days.

Too bad you're 0-2, but it doesn't really matter anyway since it's the preseason. Always good to see Bosh get near the 20 and 10 range although he didn't shoot too well. Graham hasn't played too well lately, but let's hope he can turn things around and maybe even compete for the starting foward spot.

I'm not that upset, like you said its the preseason. Although it was a bad loss, I was trying to give a lot of playing time to the young players in the last game so I can get a feel as to what they are really capable of doing.

Raptors get first win over Lakers

Image

Jalen Rose and Chris Bosh combined for 52 points to give the Raptors their first preseason win against the Lakers, 95-87, and now go to a 1-2 record.

Rose scored 30 points while Chris Bosh just came shy of a double-double with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Rafael Araujo, in his second start of the preseason, contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds.

Joey Graham, the leading scorer off the bench, chipped in with 8 points and 2 rebounds.

The Raptors will now take their 1-2 record and prepare for Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timerwolves who will visit the Air Canada Centre.

Chris Bosh with 22/9/5. I expect that coming from him every night.

Just a little advice though, I think you should add some detail to your recaps. You're just saying who scored how many points, and we can already see that in the boxscore.

One thing, for example is the score. I'm sure other people would want to know what the exact score is after the game, and how many points the other team you faced got as well.

Another thing is to try and remember all of the big moments/highlights during the game. For example, let's just say you were down by 12 points or something and you made a 15-0 run to win the game or something. People would want to know about that, and you should include it in your recap.

Just some advice because your recaps seem a bit vague, and it could help if you present it with a little more detail.

Thanks for the feedback. I will include a lot more detail when the actual season begins, but considering its just the preseason I didn't think as much detail was required as they are just "friendly" games.

Sorry, I forgot to put in the score against the Lakers. Its now been added and bolded to the posting above; it was a 95-87 win for the Raptors.
