What's your poison? aka the Drinking Thread

I can't remember if we've ever done this*, but for those of us who are old enough to drink alcohol (and those who do it regardless)...what's your drink of choice?

I started out with spirits (Vodka to be precise) but gradually moved to beer, specifically Tooheys New.



I'll drink other beers - when I was up in Queensland for my brother's wedding a couple of weeks ago he had some Grolsch and another Dutch beer that I tried, also took advantage of the open bar to try some of the more expensive beers - but most of the time it's a New. I suppose I really should fork out the money for some more expensive beer once in a while.

So, what's your poison? (And remember, some of you owe quite a bit on your NLSC tab)

Well if its beer I'm drinking then it's is carlton draught! Mmmmm.... (if your not familiar with this beer goto http://www.bigad.com.au - this was a recent commercial they did, it's a classic.)

But lately I've been drinking a few more spirits, mainly canadian club whiskey with coke (sometimes vanilla coke). I live on campus at a uni here in Oz so there's a lot of drinking going on all the time so I find I'll drink beer for a while, then bourbon, then something else etc.

As far as beers go I like Stella Artois and XXXX... nothing else really.

99% of the time though I drink JD and Pepsi Max... I used to drink JD straight up when I was 15/16 but now I just prefer to gradually get hammered as opposed to instantaneously.

Btw, if any white people here list hennesey, couvoisier, "malt liquor" or gin and juice as their favourite drinks I will kill them or something less drastic.

I dont drink alcohol but i've tried VB and some other shit... i think i had some whiskey and coke, it was good shit, i think i had that and a beer in like 20 minutes and i was dizzy...

Captain Morgans is my favorite. I like Bacardi sometimes, even though its kind of a pussy drink. Personally, I like hard liquor.

Don't ask me why..i'm not a man that can hold is liquor...but i like this beer. I hate beer that is too strong "Heinikin"...and beer that tastes like water.."coors light"...so this one hits the spot when cold.

me start liking wine, at last. french wine of course... Champain is also excellent... But I also like Martini, Manzana, Banyuls, and pfew, a lot of other things too

And when it's about beer, I like Guinness or a nice Pelforth

Bacardi's are allright, but it's like drinking a soft drink so why drink it.

Mostly just bourbon tho (since there's always a lot of it, and I'm too cheap to buy my own drinks)

I'm a beer-guy. I love it. But I never drink the cheap shit just to get you drunk, I prefer belgian or scottish brews.

Ale is a favorite together with wheat-brews. Innis & Gunn the ultimate brand.

I can't stand beer. They all taste the same and taste like shit to me, which is why I do vodka shots instead. I don't mind any kind of hard liquor such as whiskey and tequila to Bailey's Irish Cream and rum & coke. Oh, and I can't stand wine, either.

That being said, I don't drink very often. Maybe on average once or twice every three months.

Normally i drink what ever my friends can get a hold of.

But Yohance is right ive had Becks before and its not bad. Oh im not a drunk high-school student either...

I'm too young to drink alcohol, but I tried Coors Light...its good.

now i pretty much drink canadian beer (kokanee), maybe some MGD, coronas, honey lager, smirnoff vodka (plain, the flavoured ones are nasty as shit), crown royal and maybe some bacardi.

I usually just throw some random liquors in some pepsi or cherry kool-aid. Last time it was kahula (sp?) in kool-aid. Tasty.

at present im on the spirits and shit, like andrew said, but i suppose ill move on to beer as i age, cos it tastes like shit at the moment.

let's see....I'm a spirits drinker more than a beer drinker, but like a cold one in summer....

spirits - Scotch Whiskey; Bourbon Whiskey (like JD, Maker's Mark, Chivas Regal, etc); Vodka (doesn't matter what it is, it goes with everything, king of cocktails, if it's a RTD, then it's probably a Smirnoff Double Black); Tequilia (just for shotting); Bacardi 151 (with Tabasco Sauce and Chartreau, although I don't really do this anymore, it's lethal). With my spirits, I usually mix it up, last night a couple of Scotches and a couple of Vodkas, not too many though....quiet night....

beers - I got a carton of Crownies in the fridge, but I don't really rate them that much, they were on special....if I'm at a pub and want something cheap off the tap then I'll usually go a Tooheys New....I like premium beers like Toohey's Extra Dry's and stuff like that....if we're talking Kiwi beers then Flame is definitely the way to go....I also have a love for Irish beers, namely Kilkenny and Guiness (and Caffrey's if they have it on tap, which they usually don't)....

I use to drink at least 3 times a week during my uni years....I've calmed down these days as I have matured ( ) so I'm back to 1 time a week max, and usually that is only a couple or a 6 pack....really big drinking sessions are only every 3 months now....

my poor liver, I have put it through a lot....quite a few shot contests, I only ever lost once (my mate downed 35 shots of Smirnoff which dwarfed my 25 shots of Jim Beam, what can I say, I wasn't in the zone that day )....

anyways, that's enough....drinking excessive alcohol is bad....just drink enough to take the edge off, that's it

Beer - Tooheys Extra Dry for sure... and if i have money Coronas

Spirits - Bourbon...mmmmm...Wild Turkey, Jim Beam, Woodstocks ..

I just bought a bottle of Glenlivet single malt scotch. When I go out then it's usually jack and coke or shots of bacardi. If i want to get other people messed up, I get them a "gorilla fart", it's 1 shot of wild turkey 101 proof whiskey + bacardi 151, which is 151 proof. that mixure usually get people pretty messed up. latley my poison has been sipping liqour, like scotch and cognac intead of downing shots of liqour.



as for beer, I just drink BUD or corona. Japanese beer is really good too- asahi, sapporo, kirin. cold sake is also good and korean liquor also good.
