Hello all!

Finally, with the release of NBA Live 06, I can start my new Lakers dynasty. (Y) For those who don't know, I won the championship in season two of my 05 Lakers Dynasty where I had Kobe, Ron Artest, Carlos Boozer and Kwame Brown on my team. I don't intend to make many big trades in my new dynasty, so Lamar and Kobe will be sticking around.

Anyways, I will just tell you how my dynasty will be formatted:

Sim Length: 12 min
Play Length: 12 min
Games: 29
Difficulty: All-star
Sliders: Still tweaking
Sim Type: Intervention
Rules: NBA Rules
Rosters: The next most updated ones
Sim Injuries: On

I am currently playing 'preseason games' in order to tweak the sliders settings and once they are fine and Andrew or someone has released the latest rosters, I shall start playing the actual dynasty!

I hope you all enjoy the ride!

Hollywood Makeover

Image
ABOVE: Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson
have a lot to prove this coming NBA season
to the League and to themselves

30 Sep, Australia – The Los Angeles Lakers missed the NBA playoffs last season for the first time since 1994. This called for a major change to the team staff which saw the rehiring of Head Coach Phil Jackson and the appointment of a new General Manager.

Phil Jackson, 60 replaces coaches Rudy Tomjanovic and Frank Hamblem whom both had short stints as head coach during the disappointing season. Tomjanovic stood down as Head Coach due to health issues and Hamblem took his place for the remaining part of the season, which turned out to be a white wash.

Jackson, known as the Zen Master, won three championship rings with the LA Lakers but returns after a messy ending with star player Kobe Bryant. It will take more than amending ties with Bryant to reverse the team’s fortunes as they lost 19 of their last 21 games late last season. “I’m ready for the challenge of getting the Lakers back as title contenders by my final contract year here,” the steady Lakers boss stated.

When questioned about Bryant he replied, “The both of us know that it all comes down to business. We won’t get into each other’s way with personal problems.”

Kobe Bryant appeared pleased with the signing of Jackson although he only answered one question about it saying, “Phil (Jackson) is a proven winner. He’s a smart coach and I’m pleased that he ahs chosen the Lakers as the team he wants to coach for the upcoming season.” Jackson chose LA over other options such as the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks.

The Lakers also dumped GM Mitch Kupchak from his position and installed Kobe Bryant fan William Sit, 17 from Brisbane, Australia to fill his shoes. The teenager was excited at the opportunity and says his call up to the NBA as a surprise. “I wrote into Dr Jerry Buss to complain that the tacos at STAPLES Center sucked and that Kobe needed to be given someone who can control him. And then I got a reply offering me the job.”

As strange as the story seems, Jerry Buss confirmed that it was true but didn’t extrapolate on why Sit was chosen except for stating, “We believe he’s the right guy for the job.”

Other personnel changes were the signings of Brian Shaw, Kurt Rambis and Michael Cooper as assistant coaches to Phil Jackson. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was hired as a big man coach for rookie Andrew Bynum.

Kings Toy With Lakers
Kobe, Odom combine for 60 of Lakers’ 99 points

Image
ABOVE: Lamar Odom (7) scores the turnaround jumpshot

10 Oct, Sacramento – After the NBA charity game for Hurricane Katrina, most of the League knew one thing; that Kobe Bryant had been working out. Kobe picked up where he left off that evening and against the Kings he was magnificent with 36 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Lamar Odom played a significant sidekick role as he chipped in a Pippen-esque 24 point, 10 rebound and 5 assist performance. However, the rest of the Lakers squad couldn’t play on the same level as the team was blown away by Pacific rivals Sacramento.

The Kings were led by Brad Miller’s 18 point, 17 rebound double-double and Shareef Abdur-Rhaim’s 19 points and 11 rebounds. Five Kings players scored in double figures as Peja Stojakovic added 18 and Mike Bibby and Bonzi Wells scored 16 apiece. “The team really has m eshed well considering how little time we’ve had to practice,” Miller stated, “I’m looking forward to a very successful season.”

The Lakers’ defense was suspect throughout the entire match as Sacramento players entered into the paint a\t will with little resistance form the opposition. “Defence is disgraceful,” Jackson spat at the players during a timeout in the second quarter, “You’ve got to hold it together and play smart basketball.”

The return of Phil Jackson to the Lakers bench saw the return of the famed triangle offence. With Bryant as the focus of the offence and Odom the main ball handler, the Lakers tried to take fans back to the Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Chiago Bulls era of basketball. However, it was short lived as their defensive blunders cost them the game in the third quarter that was dominated by the Kings’ fast break offence.

“Once we got the running game on,” Abdur-Rahim said, “We were able to break the Lakers down on their defensive end.”

The game was filled with dunks and fast breaks. Kobe Bryant had three alley-oops to Lamar Odom, the one that stood out was in the third period. Bryant stole the ball at half way looked as if he were going for the dunk over traffic but instead lobbed the ball up for Odom to jam with authority.

Notes

C Kwame Brown who was traded for Caron Butler by Washington had a game high 5 blocked shots… C Andrew Bynum and G Von Wafer, both rookies received garbage time but the pair are expected to be sent to the D League during the season to play for Fort Worth… Sacramento dominated the glass as they outrebounded the Lakers 62-34… Preseason Record: 0-1 (0-0, 0-1)…

I always find it ironic that you had Kwame as a centrepiece in your dynasty last season and the real-life Lakers followed suit....are you gonna be adding Sprewell to your roster once he signs?!? seems you always struggle with Kings, always your bogey team :o

looking forward to seeing what you can do with the Lala's....hopefully at the very least, that you can improve the quality of the tacos on offer

Raptors Hold Onto Win
Bryant’s 18 second half points not enough to lead Lakers

Image
ABOVE: Kobe Bryant (8) does what he does best

12 Oct, Los Angeles – Los Angeles let their first home game slip away in a night of controversy against the Toronto Raptors. Kobe Bryant led four players in double figures but Toronto was two better, led by six double figure scorers.

The Lakers were leading by 2 points with just 7:45 left in the final period before Kobe Bryant was forced to sit out a few minutes due to his fifth foul and a heated dispute with the referee. Bryant was given a technical foul after what officials called a ‘forced delay of play.’ Bryant who had completed a three point play backpedaled down court, while taunting Raptors’ Jalen Rose and Morris Peterson. His actions fuelled the STAPLES center crowd to boo the Raptors and the away side refused to continue play.

“I don’t think we (Lakers) deserved that technical. We’re not the ones who stopped play,” Devean George said of the strange ruling, “Sure, Kobe started it but in all pro sports, the crowd is going to act up and you just got to play with it.”

Bryant was then taken off court by coach Phil Jackson and rested for 3 minutes. The momentum LA seemed to hold before hand was lost in the following time where Bryant was off court with Toronto embarking on an 11-0 scoring run and subsequently bagging the victory.

“When Bryant was taken off, it was our chance to strike,” former Connecticut Husky Charlie Villanueva stated, “It was even more foolish of the Lakers to give (Lamar) Odom a break at the same time.” Villanueva scored 15 and 17 in his NBA debut. Morris Peterson led all Raptors with 25 points. Rafer Alston scored 23 but had 7 turnovers while captain Jalen Rose chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. “This is a big win for us (Toronto),” The Raptors vocal leader Jalen Rose said, “Let’s see what ‘Bad Cock’ thinks about this.”

“We just got to play hard defense all game,” Kobe Bryant analyzed his team, “We played great D in the second and third quarters but we just couldn’t maintain in the fourth when it counted most.” Phil Jackson, back at the coaching helm and enjoying his first night back in STAPLES was so-so on his squad’s performance, “Kobe, Lamar and Kwame (Brown) were good. We still ened a lot of work before we’re up and running.”

Bryant led LA with 29 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. His high flying antics saw him dunk four times in the game and a few nifty fadeaway jumpshots. Odom was once again second best with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Brown had a steady STAPLES center debut with 19 points and 14 rebounds while Jumaine Jones repeatedly scored in the open court to rack up 14 on 7 for 10 shooting.

Notes

The Lakers have plenty of problems, starting at the PG position, they claim to have found a solution in Sasha Vujavic…The Lakers homecrowd was the loudest since April… Rose refers to Toronto’s GM as ‘Bad Cock’ and the NBA is fining him $ 2000 every time he uses the name in the media… Preseason Record: 0-2 (0-1, 0-1)…

- I guess so... depends on how you play. But I can tell you one thing. Kobe and Lamar are both quite good and Kwame Brown is... easy to score with in the game.

I also need a suggestion on what kind of gamepad I can get... Anurak has suggested to me to get a USB adaptor for my PS2 controller... any suggestions fellas?

I'm also open to slider discussion by looking at my boxscores...
