Custom Team Nightmare

Postby cairo09 on Tue Aug 30, 2005 10:46 pm

I created 11 custom players (with all the needed fsh and ebo files), released all of NY's players and signed the said 11 players. road games are OK, but whenever i play at home, the game crashes. curiously, this happens mostly when a player on any team makes free throws...i wonder what's wrong...please help. thanks!

i guess you're right panco. cos i tried it just now and my first home game was a success. the next time i tried it crashed again. but before it did i noticed that the background for player portraits is missing (the one that appears whenever there's a foul, subsitution, or dead ball situation)...and then IT happened...man, this is so frustrating...

the background for player portraits is missing

I think that's your problem, I may be wrong, though. The file for the portrait background is located in the logos.viv in the NBA Live 2005/fe folder. It's the one called 'port'. Check it out, maybe you can see the problem. Did you change this file?

It can crash if you don't have a player portrait
I had this problem before

i haven't edited the logos.viv yet, cable guy. but i do have plans of doing so...like panco said, maybe it's the missing player portraits...i don't have any for most of my players yet...i'll work on 'em tonight and i hope it works. thanks guys!...i'll keep you posted about the result...thanks again.

Panco's right, you need to have portraits for your players if you've given them cyberfaces (you have, right? you said they have .fsh and .ebo files). Although usually if there's no portrait, the game runs fine, except that player has a pink head, the game doesn't crash as far as I know. This is a wierd problem, try posting in NBA Live 2005 tech problems as well, you might get an answer there.

got it!!!! :) i made all portraits tonight and the game worked out just fine. yes i have made cyberfaces for them, cable guy. thanks for all the help! :D ... anyway, do you know how to make the headbands appear with my custom players? because i only use the hair.ebo, not the headshapes. cos the changes headshapes make are too drastic, and don't turn out the way i really like...so i hope you could help me with this. thanks!

I think there's also an .ebo file for headbands. Look around to see if you can find it. Great that you solved your problem. (Y)

couldn't have done it without your help, guys :) .... yes there are ebo files for headbands but, what i'm trying to find out is how to get the right one, since i'm not using any original player's headshape. i'm just using the headshape of a "CREATE PLAYER". i tried putting headbands on my players in the game, but they don't appear. that's cos there's no such thing as "mijordaB_headband.ebo", e.g. now, i can't just provide any ebo cos my players don't use a specific ebo from any of the default players of nba live 2005. they're using ebo files, probably, from CREATED PLAYERS. i don't know how am i going to get the right ebo....

You said you used hair.ebo files, right? My first thought is that you should use the headband.ebo that matches the hair.ebo.

i used the headband.ebo of "plyr01" located at the playergrb.viv, and they turned out ok...well almost...anyway, i have another problem...i'm using custom players right - the exhibition games work out ok, and the season games too, but i haven't even started playing in dynasty mode (training camp already crashing back to windows), and it all falls apart...i wonder..is it the dbf? do i need to put all the values like their salaries and all that?...help, anybody. this is another custom team nightmare... :?

I would PM Andrew and ask him. That seems to be a common problem when creating rosters like that, he may know what to do. (Y)
