I was surprised to see you beat Houston that bad. Very good win against a tough team.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone. Right now I'm not sure whether to go for an outside shooter, because I probably won't get many points with him anyway because there are other scorers in the team. Defence might be much more important.

Johnson is pretty much the perfect player, but I'm not really into keeping a great player who scores 3 points a game. I could go for a defensive stopper and a bench player who can shoot the three. It would be fun to have a new player anyway

In my honest opinion, I think defensive ratings are overrated and I don't really feel that there is that much of a difference between someone like Ron Artest or Glen Robinson. The only rating that would probably make a difference on defense is stealing. But I still like to keep a few defensive-minded players just to make my team look a little more balanced. :P

By the way, you gave Houston a thrashing. Another good win.

I think it's important for a starter, because that's most likely the player going head-to-head against a good scorer. Off the bench it's not that big a deal for me, then again DerMarr Johnson would always pick up the wrong guy and cause a mismatch.

I also got rid of Lenard after every shooting guard he played against got 25-30 points.

Anyway, after a lot of ratings browsing I've decided to keep Johnson for now.

Maybe you should try shooting a mid-range jumper or two to make the stats a little more realistic

I don't think anyone wants to screw himself over just for the sake of making stats more realistic. If the CPU gives you the paint, take it. Better to make sliders harder instead.

Stromile Swift? He's playing for a weakened Memphis team, who have lost Gasol, Wells, Warrick.

Yeah. As much as I like shooting jumpers I will not take one unless I think it's the best option.

Another game coming up...

NUGGETS HAVE YET TO LOSE AFTER WINNING IN CLEVELAND

Denver 93
Cleveland 84

Denver Nuggets have a 5-0 record after winning another game, this time against the Cavaliers in Cleveland. After a rather slow start, the Nuggets really took off when Wesley Person came in midway through the first quarter and caused problems for the Cavs' zone defence with his outside shooting. It was a close game like last week in Houston, but eventually the Nuggets pulled away with a better second half performance. The points were shared between the team, as Person got 21, Anthony had 20 and Johnson added 14. Kenyon Martin was as solid as ever with 19 points and nine rebounds, despite having some tough defence played on him by Drew Gooden. Zydrunas Ilgauskas shone most for the Cavs with 20 points and six boards, while high-flying LeBron James, who was double-teamed throughout the game, had 16 points and an impressive four blocks.

"It's a different ball game with the zone defence", said Nuggets point guard Earl Boykins, who impressed with nine assists. "Me and Jason [Williams] had to look for the open man and I'm glad we both did that well and we won the game."

Nuggets have another game on the road coming up against the Washington Wizards.

I didn't mean it that way, I just thought that someone like Carmelo or Joe Johnson who usually floats around the mid-range area should shoot it there more often, even though they'll miss from time to time, it does create a little more realistic feel.

Anthony outplayed LeBron by the way. Good job.

Yep. Whenever there's an uncontested shot, I take it. James was actually playing SG and wasn't matched up against Anthony. That would have been some matchup though.

Nope, Superstar it is. I might put up CPU on-ball physical defence up again, from 48 to 50.

NUGGETS WIN CLOSE ENCOUNTER IN D.C.

Denver 91
Washington 87

Denver Nuggets added another win to their regular season record with a close win over Washington Wizards at the MCI Center in Washington D.C. A solid first half performance saw the Nuggets take a commanding lead, but it was cut down in the third quarter by an inspiring 9-0 run by three Wizards outside shots. The fourth quarter was played neck and neck, but the Nuggets made good decisions playing the ball to the open player during the final minutes. The Wizards fouled in the end, and opted for quick inside jumpers instead of three-pointers and were unable to cut into the lead. The Denver team shared their points with Kenyon Martin, Carmelo Anthony, Nene and Marcus Camby all reaching double figures. Denver were definitely stronger on the inside during the first half, but as Washington stepped up their defence, the Nuggets were helped by occasional outside shots by Joe Johnson and Jason Williams. Washington's outstanding player was Gilbert Arenas, playing shooting guard after the departure of Larry Hughes, who now leads an impressive Bobcats offence. Arenas had 22 points, while point guard Juan Dixon added 11 points and 8 assists. Antawn Jamison's quickness got him 18 points against Kenyon Martin and Nene.

"It wasn't exactly the perfect game by us", said Nuggets center Marcus Camby. "We got the win with our high-percentage shooting but could have had taken a lot more shots without all the turnovers."

Starters:
Denver (5-0 before game)
C M. Camby
F K. Martin
F C. Anthony
G J. Johnson
G J. Williams

Washington (3-5 before game)
C B. Haywood
F A. Jamison
F J. Hayes
G G. Arenas
G J. Dixon

Player of the game:
Martin DEN 22/6

Team leaders:
DEN: Anthony 14, Nene 13/4, Camby 12/3, Johnson 9/5, Williams 7/4 ast
WAS: Arenas 22/3, Jamison 18/5, Haywood 10/5/3 blk/3 stl, Dixon 11/8 ast

Box scores:
Nuggets
Wizards

On-ball physical defence is now 50 but Washington's interior defence was again a bit too weak.

Probably wouldn't be if I had a bad team I was playing with. But this is my dynasty, this is my team and I'll try to win the championship.

I had time to make a bit of a recap so here goes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

O'Neal, Odom named November players of the month

Shaquille O'Neal continued where he left off at the end of the regular season by winning the player of the month award for the Eastern Conference. Shaq averaged 17.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists for the Heat.

Lamar Odom picked up the award for the Western conference with 16.3 points, 7.5 boards and 4.7 assists.

Exciting rookie Germain James picks up award

New Jersey Nets' power forward Germain James picked up the award for Rookie of the month in the East with 8.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists. Houston Rockets' Zan Ouakili got the Western rookie award.

STANDINGS

WEST
Denver 6-0
Phoenix 8-1
San Antonio 6-2
Seattle 7-1
Golden State 7-4
Houston 4-3
LA Clippers 6-5
LA Lakers 7-6
Minnesota 4-4
Sacramento 5-6
New Orleans 4-6
Dallas 3-7
Portland 2-6
Utah 1-8
Memphis 0-11

The surprise package of the Western Conference so far are Seattle, playing with an unchanged team and a record of 7-1. Last year's conference winners Sacramento are only at 5-6, while a weakened Memphis team is struggling without Gasol, Wells and Warrick.

EAST
Miami 8-4
Detroit 7-5
Philadelphia 7-5
Charlotte 6-3
Boston 4-3
Chicago 4-3
New York 4-3
Toronto 6-5
Milwaukee 6-5
Atlanta 6-6
Cleveland 3-3
Indiana 3-3
Washington 5-8
New Jersey 4-11
Orlando 1-7

The East looks much stronger this year. O'Neal and Wade are leading Miami, Charlotte are better with Larry Hughes and Atlanta have been boosted by Pau Gasol's arrival. The Nets still have some way to go and Orlando are much weaker despite having an unchanged team.

LEAGUE LEADERS

Some perhaps unrealistic stats here, sim length is 10 min. K-Mart's 50+ points against Dallas make him the leader.

POINTS
Kenyon Martin DEN 29.8
Tim Duncan SA 23.9
Kirk Hinrich CHI 20.1
Elton Brand LAC 20.1
Jamal Crawford NY 19.9

REBOUNDS
Antoine Walker BOS 10.9
Yao Ming HOU 9.9
Tyson Chandler CHI 9.6
Ben Wallace DET 9.5
Elton Brand LAC 9.5

ASSISTS
Tony Parker SA 6.9
Stephon Marbury NY 6.9
Allen Iverson PHI 6.7
Steve Nash PHO 6.4
Jason Kidd NJ 6.2

Starters for Nuggets @ Kings:

Umm.. seriously, I don't get this. Drew Gooden gives me a hard time in Cleveland, I go close to losing in Washington, I increase on-ball physical defence for the CPU and now THIS!!??!!

Sac-1 you have my sympathy. I had one of the closest games of last season against the Kings, but this time...

Needless to say I'll be making my settings harder again, although it might mean losing to a team that actually plays defence.

NUGGETS IN INCREDIBLE BLOWOUT WIN OVER KINGS

Denver 106
Sacramento 65

Denver Nuggets took an amazing win over last year's regular season winners Sacramento at the Arco Arena last night. In the most incredible of victories, the Nuggets had everything going for them, every shot rattled in instead of out and every rebound seemed to fall in their hands. Kenyon Martin simply could not miss. The Kings had been struggling so far this season, but nobody expected to see a game like this. The Nuggets went on a 21-2 run during the first and second quarter and could not be stopped. However amazing the Nuggets' team was, the game also showed what the Kings are lacking - defence. Last season's team effort has completely disappeared, and their lazy defence could prove to be the reason for them not reaching the playoffs this year. Last season's coach of the year Rick Adelman must come up with a quick solution to the problem.

"You can only dream of playing a basketball game like this", said Kenyon Martin. "I didn't know something like this could happen. We made a great effort, but it was like the ball was cursed against our opponents. We're taking it with us for the next game", he joked.

The Nuggets continue playing with the ball against the Philadelphia 76ers at home.

Starters:
Denver (6-0 before game)
C M. Camby
F K. Martin
F C. Anthony
G J. Johnson
G J. Williams

Sacramento (5-6 before game)

SAC: Mobley 17/4 ast, Stojakovic 13/4, Thomas 14/8
