I think the Spree sig is the best of your NBA ones... I don't really like the Bogut one, mainly because he looks like he's got a reverse Hitler moustache but the text is kinda plain too. Definitely a fan of the Spree one though (Y)

ta.. the spree sig is probably the first sig that I've approached with a solid design understanding and utilises most of the skills I've been perfecting over the past months. I think it has some issues with the right hand corners. might lower the basketball just a tad. what are peoples thoughts on the animation?

I'll also have another stab at the sheef sig..

Some more NBA stuff would be tight (kind of what your doing now). Maybe a nice NBA-related wallpaper showcasing the skills? :)

The slight grunge on the text, is nice, I really like that, along with the slight texture in the background. I think you might want to erase one pixel from the bottom right corner (around the ball, not covered by the large stroke), and then add a one pixel stroke there, I think it looks a little awkward right now.

been developing a technique using cs2 smart objects to create a grayscale image with it's own image applied to it's alpha mask which I then use as a clipping mask for other layers.. basically its a work around that fills in for the absence of advanced multilayer alpha masking..

conventionally an alpha mask has limited editing power.. sure u can copy an image into it and apply filters to it, but you can't apply adjustment layers and easily switch between effects.. every change you make, you can only make once.. meaning that to get something right you constantly have test, undo, and retest until you can get it right.. no layer editing, blending, layer styles, additional nested masking, or adjustment layers.. this technique brings all of that functionality to masking..

All that said I'm not entirely convinced that it's been used appropritately here, so I'd like some feedback.. bear in mind that the masking hasn't been fine tuned at the moment it's just a concept that attempts to grapple with the red border in a needlessly complex (but really cool) way, can easily be toggled..

I'm going to have a stab at animating.. and tweak the color balance a little on spree and the jersey

Tue Aug 23, 2005 12:18 am

I love it! The effects are great, the jersey switch is great and I love the Logo coming up behind him.

Tue Aug 23, 2005 2:44 pm

kk.. fixed the jersey further and the color balancing on spree.. just about good to go

Image

should I animate it or add additional text (or neither)?

going to start on an andre miller, k-mart, camby, melo sig entitled "Denver Nuggets: Talent Goldmine"

Tue Aug 23, 2005 2:56 pm

I don't see a difference. And I think you should animate it.

Tue Aug 23, 2005 11:33 pm

I don't really like the faded logo, but it's not terrible looking. Personally I'd rather see it still full, with the same sort of "texture" effect that's in the background and text. I also liked it better animated. I never would have thought of "vessels" like that, but they look out of place without being animated.

going to go into a little bit of a hiatus in terms of nlsc art.. atm I'm juggling my time between uni, putting together a folio by the 2nd week of october for admission to the vca, running the fantasy draft, and leading a normal healthy life..

Tue Aug 30, 2005 9:27 pm

put this together quickly.. going to animate it aswell

Image

not really my A-grade stuff.. always find it a challenge to introduce multiple players per sig.. dre's arm being cut off bothers me a bit.. needs tinkering .. imageready fked up the layer style on the yellow bg

Tue Aug 30, 2005 9:32 pm

just read your career goals. that's pretty much the same as mine. chances are slim though. the video game industry here kinda sucks

added trophy lust

Image

still wip.. mebe

Sun Sep 11, 2005 8:51 pm

Not really feeling the granulated "lust". Or the grey "love".
The bg seems to be lacking some kind of ooomph. Just make the highlights a bit more ...lighted.

The rockets logo is also to granulated/noicy. But that could just be my personal preference.

Sun Sep 11, 2005 11:36 pm

I like the Lust effect, but it doesn't mix with the cursive. I don't like the white square overlapping Tmac.

very nice avatar (Y)
